Fed Up is right on the money.

by Z = X Mod Y (not verified) on

The 2-legged inhabitants living in Iran do NOT desire anything better than the current establishment. In fact, if anything, they would need to turn the clock back about 1300 years right about the time when Ommar used to practice LAVAT on Muhammad!

Stop wasting your energy and resources on converting Iranians into democratic-minded and civilized citizens!

Khalayegh har cheh layegh

by Fed Up (not verified) on

I agree with the last note. Time and again, the people of Iran have proven that they are not interested in freedom and progress--revolution case in point. I don't buy this bull shit of people wanted a democratic republic. Let's be honest, the revolution was achieved by the millions who wanted a cleric as their leader--the "enlightened" foreign graduates who, after a few years abroad thought themselves to be Toqueville's of Iran, were just a few showing off their political hipness of 70s. So, people should realize that the people of Iran (and this is not the very small minority who lives in north of Tehran) are not interested in equal rights, or freedom of expression or a progressive democratic republic. They are perfectly happy with their tranditions and supersititions and rozehs and sofrehs etc. So, please stop ruining your lives. You need to struggle for a cause that has a public support. I know it's sad, but it's true.

Why Demostrate?

by Mehdi on

I don't think she should have demonstrated, knowing what would happen. Why not build a bigger support group first? As far as I know, even if it was totally free, probably at least 65% of women in Iran would not want equal rights or know what it meant. The culture needs to change and forcing it is not the best way - at least it is unnecessary. I went through Pakistan when I left Iran and to my amazement I found that Pakistani women wear hejab out of their own free will - it was not forced on them. I don't think they knew what equal rights and/or freedom meant. Forget Tehran, most of Iran is the same - even probably a large part of Tehran.

In our shrinking global village there is harly left anything that has escaped from the magnatic force and the crippling gravity of money... with the exception of perhaps polluted air to breathe...even there after a couple of free rides you need to buy an expensive inhaler to overcome the suffocation-- Abol Danesh--October 2007

Iranian women

by An Iranian not proud of being "Persian" (not verified) on

It is about the time for Iranian women to stop discrimination against them and have control over their rights, specially in a country where the rate of females graduating from university is more than males.

The brightest and bravest

This is an epitome of what this Islamist regime thinks of Iranian citizens. All are considered potential threat let alone the brightest and bravest who routinely are done away with or at best put away.
