Fronline, PBS: As the United States and Iran are locked in a battle for power and influence across the Middle East—with the fear of an Iranian nuclear weapon looming in the background—FRONTLINE gains unprecedented access to Iranian hard-liners shaping government policy, including parliament leader Hamid Reza Hajibabaei, National Security Council member Mohammad Jafari and state newspaper editor Hossein Shariatmadari. In this report, FRONTLINE examines how U.S. efforts to install democracy in Iraq have served to strengthen Iran's position as an emerging power in the Middle East. (more »)>>>

by Shahram (not verified) on Thu Oct 25, 2007 06:05 PM PDTI agree it is the battle of Dad and Mom. But, I should add that Daddy is drunk and and wants to have Mommy to be his servant!!!

I still think Iran does not want war
by Alborzi (not verified) on Thu Oct 25, 2007 08:22 AM PDTFrom the tone of the voice of Iranian officials, it seemed you got the sense that they realize the odds and they were hoping for the cooler heads to prevail. On the other hand they were not in a panic either.
Iran my MOTHER and America my FATHER

Not so fast
by Anonymous^2 (not verified) on Wed Oct 24, 2007 05:46 PM PDTThe attack on the Islamic Republic will bring the entire infrastructure to halt. No cash, no fuel, no transportation, no communication, no electricity, no running water, no nothing...!/
Then, the mullahs will collapse!?
If IRI stays in power after the attack, it wins regardless
by farrad02 on Wed Oct 24, 2007 02:33 PM PDTRegardless of the outcome and the conceived benefits and results for the attacker(s), if the ruling hardline faction stays in power in Tehran after the attack, they will be the winners and beneficiaries of such an attack! Period! The attack will kill off the fledgling democracy and freedom movement. It will drive the nuclear programme under ground and will give the Mullas ammunition and excuse for another generation or two of tyranny in Iran!
U.S. and its allies, in any kind of attack on Iran, must include a regime change (read: hitting the leadership and quickly replacing them) or they will be better off NOT to do it!
salaam and peace to all
by Tafreshi (not verified) on Wed Oct 24, 2007 01:19 PM PDTIran is playing its cards really well. As an Iranian American I do think that Iran is my mother and America is my father and hope these two think about their children(us) and not fight as this fight if ever happens will be very very expensive for all. My dad should let my mom use its nuclear technology in a hostile free environment. My mom should also listen to dad not bring up the history of misbehavior and put down. This way my dad will be propsperous with intelligent Iran. In the mean time our cousins and family members must shot up and cooperate including my auntie Israel as we like to see our auntie get along with our first cousins Felestinians.
God bless Iranians
God bless Americans
God bless the planet Earth against war
Peace be with all
Did I see Iranian government? No, I saw bunch of murderers.
by ---> (not verified) on Wed Oct 24, 2007 01:07 PM PDTDid I see "Iranian" government? Did I see bunch of murderer Islamists with beards? Yes, I did. I had close encounter with murderers (Hamid Reza Hajibabaei, National Security Council member Mohammad Jafari and state newspaper editor Hossein Shariatmadari) repressing Iran and Iranians.
This clip clearly shows Iran is running by bunch of charlatans and backward Islamists who are not afraid to have Iran destructed and care less of massive Iranian causalities.
They care less for freedom and democracy. This war can stop by having this thugs coming down and by us.
Its not that bad
by Alborzi (not verified) on Wed Oct 24, 2007 12:45 PM PDTI watched it and I got the sense that Iran will do as much as it can (she knows its not going to be good), but US also has really good reasons to avoid it. But just like Vietnam, Cambodia was bombed as a last gasp, before cooler heads prevailed. War will not be good for anyone.
