Yes and No
by babak jon (not verified) on Wed Nov 14, 2007 08:35 PM PSTI agree that this segment is quite shallow and shows Southern Californian Iranians as superficial. The problem with Bebin TV is that they are are a fledgling group and have yet to find their place. Therefore, they try many different things in order to see what works. Not to dismiss the ability of the people working at Bebin, they also appear to not have very good writers or creative thinkers. Give them time. I'm sure their programming will improve. But what is with the attacks on Melissa? She's not that bad! The vehemence of the words used to describe her show how much she pushes your buttons. That's a good thing.

Common Misconceptions About Persian Style
by Fashion Nazi (not verified) on Mon Oct 01, 2007 11:02 AM PDTWhere do Persians get their reputations as fashionistas? What I saw in this clip was an aesthetic of conformity, a celebration of the virtues of playing it safe and expensive--this is the fashion recipe for disaster, or at the very least, boring.
There was not enough cojones on display at the 13 Bedar in Irvine, because everyone knows how to dress not to be ridiculed, and no one seems to know how to be fashionable, or individual. Being fashionable is as much about a person's confidence as it is about their exterior. Dressing in packs (boys with the hair and girls with the white tops, hair styles, highlights) screams loudly of "Help! There isn't enough of me to be an individual!"
So disappointing, so educational.
Suggestion for Bebin.tv
by Anonymous1 (not verified) on Sun Sep 30, 2007 06:28 PM PDTBebin TV,
There were many who complained about this video clip. I have a suggestion for you to make them happy too. Why don't you make a video of the "khaahar zeynabs" who live in Orange county, and there are a lot of them, trust me. You know, the "Sakinehs and Soghraas". Ask questions about their "chador" fashion and how many times per week they shower and so on.
.
I promise to you that all who complained about the 13bedar video clip are going to come back to you and thank you and even eat their words...
they should go around
by Anonymous_Flowers (not verified) on Sun Sep 30, 2007 06:03 PM PDTthey should go around asking ppl their poltix
Okay Come on....
by mmmmmm (not verified) on Sun Sep 30, 2007 01:16 PM PDTEveryone is a little over dramatic here! Bebin.tv does a lot of programs that vary from comedy, fashion, music, and other subjects that their target audience is interested in. All Melissa did here was show the viewers out there what "irvines" 13 bedar is like. Frankly it IS a fashion show at that event and everyone does dress up every year for it. Trust me I live in So Cal and am use to seeing this all the time. But again bebin.tv is just showing that to you... no one has tied you down and put a computer in front of you and forced you to watch these programs...so before you go judging bebin.tv as a whole maybe you should visit their website and watch some of their other programs!!!
have a nice day!!!
CHILL OUT!!
by MAHTAB (not verified) on Sun Sep 30, 2007 08:22 AM PDTi grew up and live on the east coast, have never been to irvine or sizde bedar.. before i saw this video, i read all the comments and expected it to be horrible and shallow...but instead i just found young people being young! in fact i think this generation is trying their best to adapt their iranian roots to their american surroundings, give them a break!! it was not meant to be a new scientific discovery, it was just a lighthearted commentary on fashion and style..and green is never a pretty color on anyone!!...go back to your lives, be productive and stop over analyzing this video as anything more than entertaining banter..i am 35 by the way, got a ways to go before becoming an old fart....:)
TACKY CHEAP BIMBOS
by Anonymisses (not verified) on Sun Sep 30, 2007 04:13 AM PDTOh my god, im embarassed that THIS is the stereotype that represents Southern Californian girls... And "Ir-veen" girls no doubt. Some of us think 'Less is more'. The hair, the make up, the nose-jobs, how embarassing. I know plenty of normal girls in Cali that dont feel the need to dress up to the nines just for a picnic in a park. How sad.
THIS IS EMBARASSING and for those who read this, dont bother writing back stupid things in their defense. PS - Whoever thought any of these women is hot, is just plain desperate. They arent naturally attraction and what the hell is up with Melissas nose please??? Too much "Deviated Septum" surgery girl... Leave that nose alone!

JOOOOOOOOOOON MEMERAM BARAT KHOSHGELA HA.
so sad and pathetic!!!!!!!!
by Anonymous12221 (not verified) on Sat Sep 29, 2007 08:52 PM PDTare u kidding me? bebin tv is a waste of time and the most pathetic online show i have ever seen. These girls are sad sad examples of the "persian" not iranian mentality in southern california.
read a book or do something productive. all any of these little boys or little girls care about is what kind of car they drive, and their appearances.
im ashamed to be known as an iranian b/c of them.
bebin tv......try to do a program on something that actually f-ing matters!
pathetic.....
are u kidding me?
by Anonymous12221 (not verified) on Sat Sep 29, 2007 08:47 PM PDTthis is pathetic...people actually watch this shit ass program?? Wow......so sad and pathetic!

by behrooz (not verified) on Sat Sep 29, 2007 06:55 PM PDTI love looking at so many young Iranian
girls and guys at sizdahbedar in the park,
Iranian girls style or no style they are the most beautiful in the world.
I love Hypocrites
by Young Hearted (not verified) on Sat Sep 29, 2007 06:40 PM PDTSo wait... southern california girls are "gross, barbie dolls, all with perian blonde highlights, botched nose jobs, knock-off designer clothes and accessorie and Frend manicures & pedicures"
hmmm... lets see... have you seen pictures of some of the youth in Iran...and yes...even the ones in Europe...
lets see... I think Iranian.com not too long ago carried pictures of a party in Iran...
but really that's besides the point...
I think the bebin crew is catering to an audience that is young and bilingual...and i think its about time... at least they are trying to reach an audience that no one else wants to reach... young, multi-national Iranians....
really... if you just want to see persian spoken programs.... you've got 20some odd iranian satellite channels to watch (with superb programs I might add... I love the carpet bazaris and 45 minute ads they run... oh... and the bickering between themselves)
so spare us your own superficialness...go watch satellite tv...and let these young bucks do what they are enjoying...
Oh by the way... picking on southern california Iranians is superficial in itself...everyone picks on them... until they move here... then they realize that they really aren't much different then the superficials in europe and iran....
Lets see them then...
by Anonymous827 (not verified) on Sat Sep 29, 2007 02:37 PM PDTI guess here is a challenge for those who think Iranian girls in Southern California are "superficial" and "have no style"...
Take a camera and show us what your preferred Iranian girls should look like, please enlighten us!
Can't wait!
yes
by BN (not verified) on Sat Sep 29, 2007 01:40 PM PDTyes, if an american or italian wears "designer" sunglasses that cost over $100 because of the lame supersized logo on the side....he/she is also superficial. I'm not fussing about it...it's just my opinion.
Not Good...
by Shoobie (not verified) on Sat Sep 29, 2007 12:26 PM PDTI'm young and i have to say that Melissa chick annoys the hell out of me. And either you DO or your DONT speak Farsi. Dont speak a mix of both. If you are presenting a Persian programme you should be able to converse in your Mother tongue. Khejaalat bekesh dokhtar. As for Souther Californian girls... All i can say is BARF. They are gross, Barbie dolls, all with Perian Blonde Highlights, Botched nose jobs, Knock-Off designer clothes and accessories and French manicures & pedicures. There IS no style in Southern California. Europe is where its at or at least New York and the East Coast.
U Go Guys!

Quality Programming
by Pedram (not verified) on Sat Sep 29, 2007 08:59 AM PDTFor those of you who are "less" familiar with video production, you should be told that the quality of bebin.tv's clips are TOP NOTCH! They have a fantastic production team and you can tell they spend time producing each clip. As for the content, I love their youthful approach to issues relating to the iranian community here in Southern Cali.
With no official sponsors, the only thing driving these kids to produce these shows is their love for their people and culture... how many of us can claim we've done something positive for our community lately?
Khaste nabashid bebin.tv gang... I enjoy the majority of your clips and would love to see you succeed.
Nabin.tv!! Na Baba Bebin.tv
by Farzad (not verified) on Sat Sep 29, 2007 08:12 AM PDTI think your programs on bebin.tv rock. They are refreshing, interesting and majority of them are very funny. Tiam and Bobby are the best and most talented I love them. But that girl Mellisa annoys the heck out of me. In my opinion she serves no purpose in the programs, she isn't funny, she isn't real, she isn't cute and she is highly replacable. Mellisa, sorry for the harsh words but this isn't for you. You might be very talented in other areas but being on Bebin.tv programs is not one of them.
Hmmm ...
by Red Wine on Sat Sep 29, 2007 03:09 AM PDTHmmm...Hot girls... :D .
Well, I'm not an old
by Anonymouzz (not verified) on Sat Sep 29, 2007 02:22 AM PDTWell, I'm not an old fart...and i think they still soooooookk.
Tiam is cool, I like his little cooking episodes, but give me a break. We know already that certain groups of "persians" are superficial and stupid, but you don't need to make a video about it, especially making a video trying to mimic something like excess hollywood's fashion do's and dont's.
There's a lot of people who think 13bedar is a meat market and to a certain extent its reality.
I don't know, I just thought bebin.tv would try to create something that would relate to "relating" Iranian-Americans back to their roots and getting to know more about their culture through the eyes of an "eye-iranian-american", but I suppose instead they just play into the superficiality that gives South Park creators ideas to make more fun of "persians".
Do you guys remember that episode of South Park, it was funny but true...

besides...if you actually visited their site and viewed their other programs, you'd notice they have enough programs to keep you farts happy
All this hatred… Why all
by Anonymous989 (not verified) on Fri Sep 28, 2007 11:55 PM PDTAll this hatred…
Why all this hatred? What makes Iranians so special and different from other nationalities? If an American or Italian wears sunglass and tries to keep up with the fashion, she or he is superficial?
What’s the big fuss?
Relax man… maybe one day you can look as good and live in one of the best places in the world – Southern California.
Let them have fun
by Jeesh Daram on Fri Sep 28, 2007 11:10 PM PDTThey are young and energetic, let them enjoy their party. Every human has a beauty in his or her soul, it is up to us to discover it.
But no blog should be without a complaint:
In one of these October Fest that happened in Irvine, CA the organizers charged $20 or was it $10 for parking in a parking lot that can hold thousands more cars but remains empty. Anyway no problem, we pay. But when you go inside, you will see total chaos. For example here is a tent or pavilion or canopy of an artist, a painter that does oil paintings and sells them for between $500 to $8,000 and you enjoy looking at his work. The problem is that right next to his tent and say about 4 feet away is another vendor selling "sheelangeh toilet" which is a metal hose that you instal in your bathroom to wipe your ass with (golab beh rootoon)! I mean what is the corrolation between a painter's exhibit and a aftabeh foroosh? Then very next tent sells rug cleaning-contracts! Total chaos.
Do I make sense?
Bunch of old farts
by tableau (not verified) on Fri Sep 28, 2007 10:44 PM PDTAre you a bunch of Old Farts??
This is for young people; although I agree that some parts could improve, yet do you remember when the Beatles were popular in the 60s? All the old fogies of back then would Ask: " BEETEL shodi?" when you grew your hair even a little. And the Afro in the 70s, how many of you had an Afro and thought it was cool since you had wild curly hair??
You all more or less did the same thing.
When Mini Skirts came to Iran did you just say " Oh no never, not me". No, you joined the crowd too, SO...lighten up a little.
I do agree that many CA residents are extremely superficial and Tehrangelesi, but I can't judge them all that way....
By the way I AM an old Fart, I'm 51 and from NY.
Excuse me while I throw up
by Superficiality Reigns Supreme (not verified) on Fri Sep 28, 2007 09:25 PM PDTA bunch of sheep in ridiculous sunglasses. Haalam beham khord... should be changed from bebin.tv to nabin.tv
Lessons learned: don't click on any more bebin.tv crap, and be happy you don't live in Southern Cali.
