We should be proud, but...

I am proud of the achievements of the experts of our country who have done this, because I know they did it with nothing.

HOWEVER, this is NOT like an F-18, it is an F-5 with 2 tails. For a country like Iran, this is not an achievement. This is a modification of an obsolete aircraft, the F-5, which flew first in 1959, and stopped being built in 1987. In its time, Iran was one of the first and most competent adopters (since 1965), and sold some of its old versions to Greece, Ethiopia, and Vietnam in the early 70's. It now has repurchased old airframes from Ethiopia and Vietnam, refurbished them, and modified them to get what we have in these pictures. (We had much experience restoring damaged aircraft during the war)
Iran should currently be building F-16 class aircraft. In fact, the industry that was planned for Iran after 1979 was taken over by Turkey, who now does major construction of the F-16.

You can see "We Coulde" in two different pictures from different angles. So, apparently it's real! Let's not forget Dan Quail and his 'potato' spelling with an 'e' at the end!

COULDE , CANE?

This plane is reversed engineer from F-5 plane. The problem is the plane is too out dated and behind the times. F-5 was a plane of 1960’s and early 1970’s, not 2007.in a battle it will go down as soon as it gets engaged with any modern aircraft out there.

Now as for spelling error, well in a country where you have “olagh” named khameni as a supreme leader and a “Guv” called ahmadi nejad as his president and low life’s masquerading as leaders and people’s representative, you can’t be expecting much else…

To the ordinary man..

Well, some of the commentaries written by people is disgusting to read and even sometimes hard to believe that an Iranian would have this level of "Bifarhangi".
However, I think this is a good practice. Unfortunately, in our culture we are not very tolerable to opposing ideas and I think maybe this site would be a good place for us to learn that. We see numerous comments we disagree with, yet we can't do anything about them. So, we learn to deal with them. (Hopefully not by use of their own disgusting methods.)

Also, it seems like this has turned to a place to get rid of some of the deep angers in some souls. This would help with later coming up with a solution to the badbakhti's people face in Iran.

The pictures also show the presence of a large number of spectators and military personnel, obviously oblivious of any important feat happening at their presence!
Unfortunately, carelessness is present in many aspects of today's life in Iran, and the misspelling is just a simple depiction.

I remember ....

In 1983,"sepaah-e paasdaaraan",s aviation unit displayed a helicopter made by "baraadaraan-e paasdaar" in Thehran,s international expo,the bulettin board in front of the chopper claimed that " this helicopter  did reach an alltitude of 1830 ft. above sea level.

The helicopter was originally stolen from "ashraf",s vacation palace in Chaloos road, they tried to fly it, at about 40 ft. off the ground ,they lost control and had a hard landing,which pretty much ruined the chopper,cosmetically they fixed it and brought it to the expo for "show"!

the site used for that flight was at 1700 ft about sea level itself! and another  130 ft. "which was another lie " made that number of 1830 ft. flight ceiling!

You can see misspelling even

You can see misspelling even in English speaking societies. Don’t you see Jay Leno show? I see this problem not as incompetence but carelessness and I understand it. They could not care less about English since all the textbooks, reference manuals and research papers in Iran are in Farsi. Who in Iran cares if it is coulde our can. Who cares?

The whole thing looks phoney!

Anyone who has ever worked in military or commercial test flight projects couldE tell you this is a phoney situation. Any test flight would have scores of scientists, technicians and test equipment in the immediate or surrounding area, with people taking notes and measurements, etc.  All you see is a bunch of khomar, near retirement pilots, "sitting" around to punch out and go home!

As for the planes...These Saegheh and Azaraksh fighters (as they call them) are nothing but the results of a 20-year project to gut and re-use the parts from old American and Russian planes and building 2-3 planes, barely airworthy!

The form of the planes are clearly an exact copy of American F-5's. And they have attached Sokhoy tails to the F-5 front body parts. It is surely possible to put something like this together and it will even fly. But to claim that you have produced a Jet Fighter that could even dare to fly and engage an American F-15 or a Harrier Jump Jet or a French Mirage, is something that Westerners are laughing about! 

This bullshit is only for internal consumption within Iran. It's for those people who look up at the TV set from between their reaches into the dizi for the next loghmeh of goosht koobideh!

Why always...?

I am not Jewish, but why is it EVERY time someone criticizes the Islamic Republic, there are few who bring up the Arabs, Palestinians, Israelis into the equations?

There is a spelling mistake on the billboard. This only shows incompetence. No excuse. Either they shouldn't write in English or go on google and do a spell check. A 10 year old know how do that. Nothing to do with Israel, Arabs, Bush, Blair, Brown...

As far as I know we have never been invaded by any a Jewish state/armies. But we have had many wars with the Arabs... I just don't understand?

It Appears to be Doctored Up!!!

If you look at it closely, it appears that someone added "WE COULDE" on top of the picture. It's not even a good Photoshop job. The angle of inclination for the English writing is different than the Farsi writing. While the banner is slanted toward the camera (foreshortened), "WE COULDE" is written perfectly straight, and flat.

We should ask ourselves, why? Why would someone write propaganda on top of propaganda!
