Dear All, The news from Iran
by Dr Pourandokht Rostamian (not verified) on Fri Mar 14, 2008 12:05 AM PDTDear All,
The news from Iran in recent days is that Tehran police cheif some joker named Zarei was caught having a ball with six naked women. When confronted the fellow said that he was holding the Jamat prayer with the women in line with the fashion of the holy prophet Mohammed, doggy style to be more precise. This man was known for being a very strict enforcer of the Islamic dress code, but has now resigned from the police job. And we all should know that Tehran police is the most corrupt and inhumane anywhere in the world.

Anyway, what's the big deal? Police brutality exists every where. In the USA, it's mixed with a hint of racism, just to make it more spicy. Prisoner abuse exists every where too, USA is the main expert.
The music was completely horrible. IMHO, it should have not sounded like NOWHEH. Instead, it should have been rap.

The blinding dogmatism
by Fred on Mon Mar 10, 2008 03:02 AM PDTWhen the Islamists are confronted with incontrovertible evidence, they almost always question its authenticity. When the Nazi death camps were liberated and the local German residence were marched to the camps to view their Third Reich’s glory on display some like these latter day ones questioned the authenticity of facts before their eyes. C'est la vie
Sibil, I agree, it's FAKE
by Q on Mon Mar 10, 2008 01:19 AM PDTNo, I'm not saying abuse does not happen, but that's not a reason to fake a propaganda video and play with people's emotions. This has been done before with fake stoning and abuse videos. Here's why I'm sure it's fake:
1. The kid is not being hit very hard. A couple of "chak zadan" by people willing to burn his hair?
2. The officer uniforms don't seem right. it's just one name tag and one badly sewn "sergeant" insignia on the right arm. There is usually also some insignia over their shoulder which there is not. Also, it seems to be two different shades of blue for each of the officers. Where's their weapons?
3. There must be a camera right over the shoulder of one of the "officers". It's not a static surveilance or secret cam, but someone obviously in on the activity. This person must have the trust of the officers if they are so comfortable around him. The camera turns and moves with the people. But among all this laughing of the officers and the kid being humiliated, NOT ONCE DOES ANYONE LOOK AT THE CAMERA. It must be 10" from the kid's face, right in front, but he never looks at it. That's a sign that this is staged or from another production or something. (This the MEK has done before, showing cuts from cinematic movies and pretending they were real life).
4. There is a CUT in the middle of the video where the scene jumps, and music over the piece. Furthermore, at a couple of points you can hear a sembolance of the original audio, now drawned out. Why would someone interested in just exposing the brutality add "music" or do editing in the video? Why not leave the audio as proof?
5. Even if there is good explanation for (4), why isn't it mentioned? Why didn't the person who posted it name the prison, name of the kid (whom he feels OK about exposing his face to the world), the time, location, or any other corroborating information?
6. There is a well established tradition both by MEK and Saltanat Talabs (Which the original Youtube poster seems to be) in faking tapes. There were mutliple fake videos on stoning which were from a Dutch movie. There was the video of the Iraqi yazidis kicking a girl that they tried to pass off as Iranian. The video of the Tehran obash leaders (criminal gangs) that shows police carrying out a COURT ORDER designed to humiliate them in public in front of the people they usually abuse was also passed off as "routine" Police "brutality." These are always designed to get people overwhelmed with emotion and suspend thinking. I'm not falling for it.
If the original poster would care to present come corroborating information, I'll listen. But I doubt that's coming.
Could the people who claim
by Guynextdoor (not verified) on Mon Mar 10, 2008 12:16 AM PDTCould the people who claim this video is a fake and those who almost swear to its authenticity (despite not having filmed it themselves) each produce solid evidence to back up their claim?
I guess the answer is no.

Abuse by police,
by Hasan (not verified) on Sun Mar 09, 2008 06:10 PM PDTDear Mehran
It saddens me to see you having so much faith in the west and non in your own people. I am not saying the your people are perfect, but they have a much more sophisticated, humane and practical culture. And I never compared them with the police in Switzerland or even UK, as I know how they are.
Here is my offer, and please do not challenge me if you can not take it.
We both identify ourselves to the owner of this website ( J.J).And we each put US$20k as deposit with J.J.
We then both travel to Iran, and I take you to the station where the incident happened. I will also try and locate the 3 policemen involved. Once my story is verified and you see this for yourself, the $20k is then divided in half, one to J.J as donation to his website, and the other half to a registered charity organization in Iran, such as “ Kahrizak” or the old people’s house of Rasht which was formed by the Late Dr Minasian, an Iranian of Armenian origin.
Are you happy to do this? If not, please do not challenge me in future.
Hasan

by Mehran (not verified) on Sun Mar 09, 2008 12:51 AM PSTI don't believe a single sentence about your story. People get killed in Iran for taking pictures and you want us to believe the police in Iran is as civil as the police in Sweden. Take your story elsewhere.
Police abuse
by Hasan (not verified) on Sat Mar 08, 2008 08:43 PM PSTI sincerely hope this to be fake, as this behavior is illegal and barbaric to say the least. It reminds me of the US police treatments of the Blacks, or more so, the Australian police general behaviors towards the Aboriginals. The question is who took the video? and can the young man involved , confirm this by posting on U-Tub his identity and information on location, date, station, etc.?. And if he has reported the matter to the authorities, being in possession of such strong evidence.
But let me tell you of my experience in Iran with the Police, in summer 2005.
I lightly insulted a police driver, when I was crossing a road from Zebra crossing, and the police failed to stop for me.
There were 3 policemen is a 4WD Toyota. The driver gave me an angry look, but apologized. I was so upset and kept shouting at him and continued my inappropriate language. The driver repeated his apology and when the officer (sat next to him) noticed my behavior, he ordered his driver to pull-off on the side of the road and told me that he was arresting me for inappropriate behavior and disturbing the peace. I was taken (in their car) to the police station not far from where the incident happened. The officer then explained to the person in charge (AFSAR NEGAHBAN) his complaint. We all were asked to wait in a room awaiting a senior officer to deal with the matter. In about 30 minutes or less, we both were requested to enter a room to be listened to our version of the event, and the complaint, which by now was wriiten by the officer. I was surprised that the officer did not get preferential treatment for being a member of the police force.
In the room the senior officer was a Lady police officer, which added to my surprise. This completely changed both sides hostile behavior. I was pleasantly surprised of the way this lady officer dealt with the matter. Which resulted telling the junior officer to be more tolerant of the public's seldom unkind behavior. By this time, I was really shocked and felt embarrassed and did not know what to say. She made it very clear to the junior officer that although I may have been in the wrong, but this was as a result of the Police not respecting the zebra crossing rule (which by the way, is impossible to do this in Iran, as you all know well).
The senior officer in a very polite manner asked me to leave the station and wished me a good day. I was so embarrassed that next day I went to the local sweet shop and bought a box of freshly made cake and presented it with an apology card to the station gate. I was told no one was allowed to enter the station without having a case. But I requested that the box was to be delivered to room # …
I must add that with the exception of my name and my address (in Iran, which I said was my place of residence) I was not asked for any other information, and I was very modestly dressed.
Since then, I have always praised the Iranian Police for the way they deal with public, and have been a lot more tolerant each time I visit Iran. I hate to be embarrassed again.

The comments here, show the brutality of the new culture
by Concerned Iranian (not verified) on Sat Mar 08, 2008 08:21 PM PSTIt is not some much that some of the posts think this is fake. The problem is that usually people who know something heinous exists but do not want anyone else to know of its existence quickly try to disredit it. These are very brutal and cold-hearted people who are capable of doing much worse acts than those shown in the video. I am not so concerned about the validity of the clip. I know of and have seen much worse acts by the government. Instead of disrediting this soft torture, we should strive to condemn it and expose it to the world. Even for those in denial, however, it is not healthy to have a system that abuses its powers the way they have right now. Remember, if you are in Iran, someday you could be arrested and have a much worse fate than this young man. So, stop being so heartless and brutal and simply condemn it! This sort of stuff does happen in Iran.
