Capers

What are capers called in Persian? No one gave the correct answer. But the funniest was "Kay-perz" from Behnam Company. 100 Afarin :o)

In the outskirts of Mount Alvand in Hamadan, many different varieties of herbs, vegetables, and fruits grow.  Reaching those wild plants is a treacherous job at times and some locals specialize in locating and harvesting them.  Shepeleh is one such fruit, native and grown wild on Alvand Mountain.  In Hamadan, Shepeleh is made into a "toroshi," which tastes exactly as capers are pickled and sold everwhere else in the world, tasting only slightly more acidic, because of the vinegar used in the process.

I emailed you with the correct answer Shepeleh about 10 days ago. So, don't say "No one gave the correct answer!"

I am from a small city called Golpayegan and as a child I used to go to pick Capers. It is called KAVAR in our city and we make the best Torshi out of it. So i think it depends on what part of Iran you are from.

seriously, could nobody come up with the right answer? the answer is kAbar (as bikar already mentioned)...

that said, why wasn't the right answer officially posted? does the person who makes up the question not know the answer him/herself????

I respectfully disagree with you, even if as you have explained, shepelah, or sheep’s droppings is called around alvand, Hamadan.
how ever around the esfehan(golpiegun) it is called kavar,or kabar, it is also used as torshi, it is a shrub with large prickles that grows wild about 6-8 feet.
