Not that funny...

by Parthian on

To be honest, they are really not that funny, although, they do make some good points. Again, they are also wrong on many accounts, so if these people don't know what they are talking about, why are you guys so hard on average Americans? Why do you expect the ordinary westerner to know what is going on in middle east, when most of our own people don't know? Don't look at yourselves! Ironically most of you were educated in the west. Most Iranians in Iran don't have a clue about Iran's place in history, or Iran's accomplishments throughout its history.

Middle Easterns invented coffee, paper, and Calendar? That is ridiculous!

I don't blame them for not knowing about the middle east. They don't learn about other people's cultures at school and the media has a very short memory and feeds them propaganda. Most Americans I have come across in my life, are curious and intrigued about older cultures. There was a time they didn't even care about "the rest of the world", but that's changing and the world has gotten much smaller.

This one was a good video!

You rock :0)

Good Video

Hi Party Girl,

Thanks for the clip. I believe stereotyping is part of the American cultural fabric and it's not just towards people from the Middle East. I have yet to find one of my international friends who has not been subject to stereotyping. As you may already know, a lot of it is caused by the distribution of highly subjective news from corporate media but the root cause of it, really, is people not taking the time to decipher facts from fiction. I don't know about other Iranian-Americans but even I, at times, find myself doing the same thing: regorgitating what I've heard on CNN or ABC and not what I found out by doing my own research.

I believe one effective way to reverse/alter people's stereotypical frame of mind is through making interesting video clips like the one you've posted here. Thanks.

This video is weird coming from

by Iva (not verified) on

the same people who WASHED their hands or mouth when they shook hands or kissed someone who was not a moslem. You know, everyone is NAJES except for us!

Unfortunately, hypocrisy is embedded in fabric of moslems, yes the middleastern guys who invented sails and ink, etc.

What is inside the bag?
You don't have anything around your belt?
Does is rain in Iran?
Do you guys have snow in Iran?
Do you guys have camels?
Are you Islamic?
Are you sunni, kurd or Shiiite?
Does your wife wear a burqa?
Do you know since you are Islamic you will not go to heave?
As a Islamic person you are a minority here?
Why are the gas prices so high?
back home you probably don't pay any money for gas?

These are some of the comments I have heard from my manager at Toyota.
