Sharpest black man that ever lived!

by sima on

Thank you JJ, thank you. Some of us feel the pang of the loss of Richard Pryor very strongly these days. This guy was brilliant. Bold. Supremely talented. Nobody's fool. Whom can we say that of these days?

The first black President was White!

by hooshie on

The first time that Hollywood dared to depict a black man as the US President was in a 1972 movie named The Man. In the film, the able black actor James Earl Jones played Douglass Dilman, who in the absence of a white successor after the accidental death of the President (in an air crash) becomes the President of the USA.

The film was so controvertial that was banned from being shown in some southern states.

But it was Toni Morrison, the Noble Laureate (1993) and Pulitzer Prize (1988) who coind the phrase "Our First Black President" in reference to Bill Clinton:

That was hilarious! I've always been a fan of Richard Pryor.

I think this was from his short-lived variety show.

Thanks for posting.
