My Amoo, Masude Karim (aka Vincent Masude), was a good person, a very accomplished artist and a gentle soul who lived a full life both in Iran and the United States. He passed away on January 1, 2008 due to failing health accelerated by a heart condition. I and many other family and friends shall miss his presence.

My condolences for the
by Anonymous4now (not verified) on Sun Jan 06, 2008 07:25 PM PSTMy condolences for the passing of your uncle. I am sure you don’t want this posting to turn into a political circus, but, in all fairness, I have to respond to Babakoohi.
Babakoohi:
I think you missed the last paragraph in Critic's response, entirely.
"We all know of Persis's politics: cautiously worded statements and interviews on the abuse of human rights in Iran under the IRI is one topic that has been discussed on this site to some length. But what about her uncle's or indeed her father's?"
It was venomous and insensitive. What does her politics or her father's for the matter, have to do with this occasion? There is a time and a place for everything.
Freedom of speech has the burden of responsibility associated with it. One cannot be irresponsible in the use of that right.
Would you share with us . . .
by Kouroush Sassanian on Sun Jan 06, 2008 03:32 PM PSTa few of your memorable events with your uncle? I hope you have him live on by telling his tales chest-to-chest!
Sorry for your loss
by Niki on Sun Jan 06, 2008 09:33 AM PSTPersis Jan- Sorry to hear of your uncle's passing. I see now that artistic sensibilities run in your family, and I'm happy to hear that he lived a full and accomplished life. Take care.
My condolence for your loss.
by Babakoohi (not verified) on Sun Jan 06, 2008 04:18 AM PSTMy condolence for your loss. I know how you feel since I lost a dear uncle myself and I always think about him. Just a note, and please be calm. Read the comment by Critic again. In what part of that post was he trying to attack you? He just asked a simple question to be clarified. Did I miss something here?
next time you, critic, want
by persis (not verified) on Sat Jan 05, 2008 09:56 PM PSTnext time you, critic, want to be pick a fight and be nasty, have enough integrity to leave your name and say something that is less insensitive. when a person wishes to share their grief, and identify someone as "the iranian of the day" perhaps you should list what you think are noteworthy attributes. for god's sake, next time you want to be hostile, why dont' you just send me a note directly instead of trying to slander me on a note of grief to someone my love. in case you missed it, that is what we call "inappropriate." i can only say this, may you be kinder to others.
To Critic:
by Nazy Kaviani on Sat Jan 05, 2008 04:50 PM PSTCritic: It is clear you wish to be hostile to Persis. I think you have picked the wrong time and venue to critique and criticize. Please be respectful of the event and the deceased's memory and pick your bones with her at another time and in another forum, where it is more appropriate to do so.
Tell us more
by Critic (not verified) on Sat Jan 05, 2008 02:06 AM PSTSorry to hear of Mr Karim's passing but it would have been more tributory if Persis could give us further information about her umcles's works and achievments. After all if he has lived a full life both in Iran and abroad, he must have done something noteworthy. What were his notable contributions to art, literature, or perhaps to politics. We all know of Persis's politics: cautiously worded statements and interviews on the abuse of human rights in Iran under the IRI is one topic that has been discussed on this site to some length. But what about her uncle's or indeed her father's?

In Artists' Corner
by Nazy Kaviani on Fri Jan 04, 2008 06:01 PM PSTPersis Jan:
Sorry to hear this sad news happened for you and your family on the first day of the New Year. I would like to think artists go to a special section of heaven, where they are allowed to create things and do their arts, free of occasional human sadness and sensitivities which usually follow artists on earth. There, their simultaneous job and hobby is to make heaven even more beautiful. I would like to believe that your uncle has joined your father in that corner of heaven right about now. My best regards and sympathy to members of your family.
