BBC: "A Nasa spacecraft has sent back historic first pictures of an unexplored region of Mars. The Mars Phoenix lander touched down in the far north of the Red Planet, after a 680 million-km (423 million-mile) journey from Earth." To celebrate this occasion let's revisit a funny clip from brilliant minds at The Onion.

What's even more funny...
by Siamack on Tue May 27, 2008 04:05 AM PDTMy wife was listening in the background and thought these were the unedited NASA exchanges. Made me laugh harder than the clip.

There is no way they landed a spaceship on the moon and had people walk and bounce around there. Especially after seeing the computer graphics of Phoenix landing which showed the ship bouncing (100s of feet at a time) and falling apart upon touchdown. Are we to believe that 40 years ago they had a way to hit the moon slowly and safely?!
Also it occured to me: after all these years of aeral photography, we know how far you'd have to be to see the curving of the surface in the horizon. The moon is smaller than earth but there is no way that you would see the bent horizon when touching down. Were they looking at the moon from the spaceship's windows?!!
another point this video proves: the gravity on the moon is one sixth of the earth, which means these prancings of the astronauts would have to be a lot lighter and higher than seen in the video. Imagine how you'd walk if you were 1/6th of your current weight!
Thanks for providing proof!
