Surprise!
by Saman on Sun Dec 28, 2008 03:32 PM PSTThe level of professionalism was so great in this production that the entire time I was waiting for Ashton Kutcher to jump out say "Hey, you Eye-Rainians are all being punk'd".
Good first try!
by farrad02 on Sun Dec 28, 2008 01:29 PM PSTThis is a good first try; considering the fact that such productions need big time budget which foreign based TV networks lack at the moment.
Dear KouroshS
by IRANdokht on Sun Dec 28, 2008 12:12 PM PSTThis old "know-it-all" woman gave the advice to the 35+ lady who was whining in a high pitched voice about how her boyfriend was tired of her nagging.
Your comment puzzled me: you're glad she didn't listen to my advice because her tone of voice is not attractive?
IRANdokht
Know it all...
by HonestHassan (not verified) on Sun Dec 28, 2008 10:58 AM PSTOld Iranian women have an answer to every question and a cure for everything...
They told me once I'll never get laid as long as I am bald!!
Well, finally coughed up the $2000, and got me some hair planted on my head. I was starting to see some peachy hair up there, when the sh*t hit the fan!!
My name was picked in Mecca-trip (Haj) trip!
Talk about zedeh-haal!!!
Why would she?
by kouroshS (not verified) on Sun Dec 28, 2008 09:56 AM PSTIrandokht
Why would you give such an advice to any young girl, and "in confidence"? They probably think you have some personal issues with them. It really crazy to think that men may prefer that tone of voice!!
I am glad she was wise enough not to change anything.
Ahdieh
by ebi amirhosseini on Sun Dec 28, 2008 08:44 AM PSTI believe if they stress on their "sh" pronunciation like Ahdieh, they might have a better chance!!.

Iranian Reader
by IRANdokht on Sat Dec 27, 2008 11:55 PM PSTI just introduced her in case you had not recognized her :0) I know about the high pitch voice... she did read one of her poems in an album and I am sorry to admit that I always skip it. I have only known one other young lady who spoke that way and I told her in confidence once, that as long as she's speaking with that voice, nobody would take her seriously, I don't think she cared, maybe she knew you gentlemen prefer that tone...
IRANdokht.
Oops, sorry ID, didn't mean any disrespect!
by Iranian Reader on Sat Dec 27, 2008 11:41 PM PSTIf I could record my voice here I would show you what I mean! It is a genre of feminine affectation peculiar to Iranian ladies -- maybe not in the case of the lady here but I've heard it a lot!
Dear Iranian Reader
by IRANdokht on Sat Dec 27, 2008 11:26 PM PSTDidn't you recognize Maryam Heydarzadeh? she's the blind poet who's been writing a lot of song lyrics for years and she's always talked like that. I didn't even know she had left Iran... I like her poems, she's very young (as far as I know) and writes romantic songs.
btw: why are the judges called jury
IRANdokht
Khanom jury...
by Iranian Reader on Sat Dec 27, 2008 11:12 PM PSTNemidoonam chera there are so many Iranian women who are afflicted by a peculiar speech impediment that makes them pronounce their "sh" as "s" -- like the lady on the jury panel here: bistar baseh, kamtar baseh...
Tell me honestly now guys, does this drive you wild with desire...??
(Heyf ke az sendosal-e man gozashteh!)

by gol-dust on Sat Dec 27, 2008 05:41 PM PSTSie sind huebsch und wunderbar! Too bad my old neighbor in Iran cannot participate! He is as close to Iraj as one can get! Good idea and a good help in lowering the unemployment in entertainment! Best of luck!

by Ali P. on Sat Dec 27, 2008 12:47 PM PSTLOL...I think "FOR ALI" is pulling his/her own style of satire on us.
And, if not, oh well...you can't save them all :-)

Ali jan,
by Princess on Sat Dec 27, 2008 10:56 AM PSTSorry to butt in, but I think you might want to consider working on your skills to convey your sense of humour. ;) Obviously, your cues are too subtle for some Iranians on this site. LOL...
FOR ALI P, what part of "I am of course kidding" did you not get?
THIS IS FOR ALI P
by FOR ALI P (not verified) on Sat Dec 27, 2008 09:20 AM PSTAli P, relax nobody is being SEXIST! There is a PART 2, maybe if you noticed you could have seen her sing and not reached your hasty conclusion haha. jeez iranians are so quick to jump to conclusions.

Iranian Sexism!
by Ali P. on Sat Dec 27, 2008 08:27 AM PSTThe male singer , took his time, and sang.
The tape ran out as soon as the female singer started to sing.
What is up with that??
* * *
I am , of course , kidding.
Nice, novel idea.
Enjoyed it.

Great Initiative from Fellow German Iranians ...
by Darius Kadivar on Sat Dec 27, 2008 04:24 AM PSTI used to be little enthusiast about such programs because if the Reality Show aspect of things but I have to admit that some shows like Pop Idol which have been also produced in France do detect interesting talents at times. Sometimes you get to see those who have absolutely no talent and it is sad to see their spirits crushed by a harsh jury. On the otherhand we live in a multimedia world and I think that such "concours" or "test examinations " for potentioal singers or even actors is a good thing.
But candidates should know by now that it is a tough competition and in a sense like a school.
I am glad that the Iranian community in Europe is getting involved in generating interest in the young Iranian generation on their oral culture and art.
I know that the Iranian community in Germany are very active in the cultural area particularly music. I hope that in France and other European countries we can see such initiative develope in parrallel.
It is inspiring and I particularly like the Persian courtiousness you don't find always amongst their European or American counterparts.
Keep Up the Good Work and Good Luck to the Candidates.
