Nothing or no one should be absolute
by Abarmard on Mon Nov 03, 2008 08:35 AM PSTShe had done a great job to promote free and equal social base in Iran for the realities that exist in Iran. Yet no one should be taken as a package and not be questioned.
The important issue is to understand the valid case that she makes and has fought for, and challenge the ideas that you don't see fit. That will require thinking and investigating, analyzing thought process, which then evolves you to a higher point that you currently are. This way you will have the best of the both world.
Waste of time
by MRX1 (not verified) on Mon Nov 03, 2008 07:58 AM PSTshe says war is not the answer and that's fine, nobody disputes that. Then she points to negotiatoon. Negotiation with whom? and about what? who is in charge over there? how can you even have a dialogue with some one whose
brain is frozen in 12th century and counting days for fictional imam zaman to come back! How can you have dialogue with people who will hang teen agers from the crain on broad day light, stone women to death and chop limbs and eyes?
Honestly would any of you fine people even consider inviting these people to your home for one hour much less have a dialogue with them?
Obama has lived in Pakistan. Do you realize how valuable that is
by I Have a Crush on Alex Trebek on Mon Nov 03, 2008 07:40 AM PSTSee the world and other cultures, no matter how backward you might think them to be, helps in making decisions.... like say..... war. Bush didn't know where anything was on a map, he didn't know the differences in Islam, he didn't know ANYTHING.
Obama supports an attack on Pakistan, or anywhere in the world, where Osama Bin Laden, the enemy of the state is being protected and harbored without the proper action by the state OBL is staying in. That makes a hell of a lot of sense if you want to exact justice forwhat was done in the USA on 9-11

CNN interview with Ebadi
by IranWrites on Sun Nov 02, 2008 11:58 AM PSTWith all due respect to Ms. Ebadi, I wish she would appear a little more informed in conferences and interviews. It seems she is not aware of Sara Palin's positions on women's issues such as abortion. Sara Palin would not permit abortion even for cases of incest and rape. How would a person like her with such a reactionary view help towards a better life and better world?
Honestly,Ebadi is too conservative for my taste. It is true, she is not a politician, it is true she is a human rights activist, however she should learn to answer the questions rather than, like Ahmadinijad (forgive the comparison!) twisting the question and repeating it in an affirmative form. She should remember there are some people who listen and there are some people who can make a distinction between an answer and an evasion.

Live from New York, It's CNN!
by ghalam-doon on Sun Nov 02, 2008 04:41 AM PSTEverything must have entertainment value on American TV. I
don’t agree with Ebadi on many issues, but I respect her as a person. This lady was reporting on Ebadi as she is a movie star or a Hollywood celebrity. The way she was waving her hands around and saying let's forget about everything and be friends again reminded me of those skits on S.N.L.
Ebadi is very smart & Diplomatic

Concerened Iranian
by Noble Prize Winner (not verified) on Sat Nov 01, 2008 09:35 PM PDTConsider this if she has done what you wanted her to do to say: "Islamic Republic is the root of all these problems" (which is true) she would be as irrelevant and useless as rest of us. As Mr. K**r said, what have we done lately!
She is not a leader!
by Concerned Iranian (not verified) on Sat Nov 01, 2008 06:16 PM PDTAnyone who thinks she is a "hero" a "leader" or a "pinoeer" needs to consider this: She has not even ONCE in her life said that the Islamic Republic is the root of all these problems. She does not even criticize Islam. In fact, when she complains about the government she says they should act "more Islamic." She received a Nobel Prize and she should be very happy. But in light of the heinous crimes that this government has committed upon its people, she is very quiet and she simply says that there are "some problems" with the system. What a waste of a rare Nobel prize! She will continue to support the government and she will ensure that they will be there for a long time. Not even once has she said that this sysyem should be overthrown. Not once!

by Immortal Guard! (not verified) on Sat Nov 01, 2008 02:55 PM PDTWhy is it that after the revolution Iran and Iranian is being pronounced differently???
For example now they pronounce it Iraaanian while previously it was pronounced Irainian.
Great idea!
by another Shirin (not verified) on Sat Nov 01, 2008 02:49 PM PDTShe is so right in saying to both Iran and the US to put the dark past behind them and head for a fresh beginning in diplomatic relations. It's a very wise suggestion.

by Amir Nasiri (not verified) on Sat Nov 01, 2008 02:04 PM PDTI believe Iranian women will change Iran.
Iranian men are cowards and can't even defend their honor and pride.
This is not the first time Iranian women have taken charge.
I am very optimistic they will do it again. I hope the men will follow suit and support them.

women make better leaders?
by Q on Sat Nov 01, 2008 12:33 PM PDTSad to see Iranian feminism is stills stuck in first wave rhetoric. But I appreciate the antiwar message which should be yet-another reminder to forced 'regime-change' Tehrangelesi's that they speak for no one in Iran.
Obama favors attack on Pakistan
by Anonymous on Sat Nov 01, 2008 12:16 PM PDTIf he favors attach on Pakistan, don't be surprised that he will take the same action on Iran. He will be tested and he would not want to look weak. Don't forget the moment he gets elected, he will govern so he can get re-elected.
All you Iranians, don't get fooled by Obama's !! Just read his first book before voting.
I am surprised McCain campaign has not used Obama's own words to attach...there is so much hate in his book!!1
...and then we'll have democracy.
by Anonymous Lesbian (not verified) on Sat Nov 01, 2008 12:13 PM PDTI think the chaos in Iran should continue until Imam Zaman appears, and then someone should assassinate him in broad daylight in front of cameras so everyone would see that he is clearly dead, and then his body should be examined by the Coroner’s Office and documented that he is indeed dead, and then buried and guarded around the clock and six months later his grave opened up and his bones examined to be sure he is dead, and then we'll have democracy.

I think she's right
by Mehdi-Palang on Sat Nov 01, 2008 10:57 AM PDTI think she's right about women making better leaders. I would love to see women occupy 50% or more of Iranian seats of governance.
optimistic and hopeful
by IRANdokht on Sat Nov 01, 2008 10:33 AM PDTDear PartyGirl
Thanks for posting this video clip. I have a lot of admiration and respect for Dr Ebadi and I have to admit that I am glad she was not specific about US or Iran's elections. She is making a stand for women again and I agree that in general women have a more peaceful nature and aren't considered equal anywhere in the world.
I do not believe that Palin's views and political ambitions nor Hillary's are of typical women, unfortunately due to this inequality, only the more "masculin-minded" women have the opportunity to achieve higher positions.
Her optimistic and hopeful predictions gave me hope :0)
