English subtitles for "Marriage Iranian Style" can be found at:
//www.iraniantorrents.com/
The subtitles would not play simultaneous to the Farsi DVD I have, but they did play with the website's uploaded AVI file through a DIVX player: //www.divx.com/.
Is this movie available on
by skatermom (not verified) on Wed Sep 03, 2008 04:33 PM PDTIs this movie available on dvd? And is it subtitled for my American husband? It looks like a hoot. As for bandendazoon. I did it in modern America. Not as a cultural ritual but out of pure necessity. Sorry folks nair just doesn't do the trick. My American bridesmaids thought it was great. As a result they've sworn off fancy waxing and will only go to someone who can thread.
Majority of Iranian movies and TV shows are not that good
by Anonypishi (not verified) on Tue Sep 02, 2008 11:46 PM PDTThere are few exceptions like; Turtles Can Fly, Time For Drunken Horses, Offside; movies that do well in international film festivals not this garbage.
If these people didn’t know about My Big Fat Greek Wedding, I don't know what else they were going to do.
The most ridiculous part is the bandendazoon e aroos. I mean who does that in modern Iran? In dar of dahat maybe, even dahatis have changed so much, but believe me no dahati is willing to see his daughter is married to a foreigner.
This is too funny

by Les Lyshkov (not verified) on Tue Sep 02, 2008 07:12 PM PDTDear Party Girl,
If you or another Iranian.com reader have English subtitles for "ezdevaj be sabke irani" (Marriage Iranian Style), might you please be kind enough to upload these subtitles to //www.opensubtitles.org.
I would like to write a review of "Marriage Iranian Style" for a small Los Angeles film periodical. I saw the subtitled theatrical release in LA, but ought to see a DVD again before I do.
This film had intrigued me because it adapted the liberal social conventions of a quintessential American genre - the romantic comedy - to fit Iran's conservative culture.
This too funny yet...
by Khar on Tue Sep 02, 2008 06:30 PM PDTSo real, we were invited to a such wedding here in states couple of month ago the groom was American and bride was Iranian born. Perhaps you should put a disclaimer on this video: any similarities to your wedding are purely coincidental :-) Thanks PG.
