Well, anyone should be free
by BK (not verified) on Fri Jan 04, 2008 05:56 PM PSTWell, anyone should be free to believe in whatever they want as long as they don't force their beliefs on others and interfere with the rights of others to their own beliefs. Problem is, religious zealots in Iran (and many other countries for that matter) do not have much tolerance for the rights of others.
As for the young guy in the pic, I guess what he does is his own business, even if it involves being stupid enough to physically abuse himself with a metal chain in order to commemorate a mindless religious ritual. I wonder if he is even remotely aware of the irony of looking a like a "bacheh gherti" with his long swept back hair, the trendy "bum fluff" (circa 1991) on his chin and his mobile phone ear piece (a Western invention) while engaging in this act of idiocy.

They don't know
by Kouroush Sassanian (not verified) on Fri Jan 04, 2008 11:11 AM PSTany better. This kid is sousoul and given an opportunity he would turn the chains on the mullahs and flee. He does not fit Antarnejad's image of muslim yuts[youth]. What's a yut?
Anyway, if this kid knew how Persian woman were raped, sold into salvery he would turn the chains on the mullah, but what alternative is there for a kid like him to fill the void created once he leaves his faith. We all seek an answer.
I have spend time with recently imported Persian yuts and they process of leaving Islam as a religion starts pretty early in Iran, but it is Islam as their culture that takes much longer to shed.

RE: salar
by Daryush on Fri Jan 04, 2008 07:11 AM PSTYou have a good point there. They are a lot of people inside Iran who share your thoughts. I believe that's a good thing. See, just like the west, we needed to experiment with the religion and bring the reality of the Islam into our daily business. Now we know. We would've never known. That's why Iran will be much more prograssive in a long run than the nations that copy and paste their ideology from the west.

Re: Lostidentity
by jamshid on Fri Jan 04, 2008 02:09 AM PSTIt is shameful to praise Hossein because Hossein was involved in the killing of Iranians. I don't care about Yazid.
ANY historical fact that is not to your liking is with an agenda haan?
Answer these questions:
1. Do you believe in Tabari as a good "movarekh"? Yes or no?
2. If yes, do you know what Tabari has written about Ali and Hossein?
3. If no, do you know WHO has the highest regards towards Tabari's work among religious scholars, Shia and Sunni, and even among none religious people too?
4. Do you think god, if there is one, will one day praise you for so blindly believing in falsehood? Or even in the truth when it is blindly?
I had Ali's picture, you know that very popular picture used in Iran, hanged in a "khatam" frame in my room long ago befoe the revolution. But I am out of that terrible darkness today. Unlike you, my belief is no longer based on what was "fed" to me in my childhood. It is based on facts. The truth may hurt and disrupt one's comfort zone. But hanging on to that comfort at the cost of accepting any lie and shame is not my way.
If god exists, I doubt it is god's way either.
Title of the picture is wrong
by salar (not verified) on Fri Jan 04, 2008 02:08 AM PSTThe title of this picture should say “New generation of NON-believers”. I totally love this photo as it captures the true nature of how mullah’s have fucked Islam inside out especially in the eyes of the younger, new generation. If Rezah shah would rule for 300 years trying to rid of Islam spending billions of dollars he couldn’t have done it more beautifully than mullah’s done in less than 30 yrs. Hossien party and sham e ghariboon in Iran has turned into a huge rave party with cars blasting their stereo’s with taziyeh-techno music all over the cities and people partying looking much much extraordinary than this guy. If you think this guy looks out of place on this photo then spend a night of sham e ghareboon in Tehran and experience hossein party first hand, it feels like Halloween on acid.
Re: Jamshid...It is a shameful for an Iranian to praise Hossein
by LostIdenty (not verified) on Thu Jan 03, 2008 10:32 PM PSTIranians don't love a person. They love the Icon like Imam Hossein because of how he stood against corruption, bigotry, and injustice of Yazid. How could a person like that be what you say. FOrget about interpreting some history books. They are written with some agenda.
This really annoys some
by Ye Irani (not verified) on Thu Jan 03, 2008 10:25 PM PSTThis really annoys some people because they think "Imam Hossein" lovers are all out of this world and reality of 21st century. You guys got to wake up and understand that this is the reality wether you like and accept it or not. By the time you do, the society in vatan will actually be more progressed than you are;
Believe me know and trust me later!!!!!

It is wonderful to see young
by Rangarang (not verified) on Thu Jan 03, 2008 12:45 PM PSTIt is wonderful to see young faithful people, regardless of their
religions. Many thousand young people gathered recently
in Geneva to celebrate Jesus with music and prayer.
Divine religions last forever. Man made Ideologies have
a date of use and disappear sooner or later.
Remember: Marx and Lenin ..
Well, all is needed and everyone is just attracted to the way
he/she deserves. Nothing wrong with being an Atheist as long
as they somehow benefit the society.
