by IRANdokht on Mon May 26, 2008 01:23 PM PDTI really wish I knew who you're arguing with.
Also which western artist had done an album with Iranian artists before? Maybe my memory is not that good about the pre-1979 music world, please help me out if you do remember.
Granted having mixed gender bands should not be considered an accomplishment these days, but I can't recall any older ones except Shohreh o Shahram (Solati) Googoosh and Martik were not a band.
In the early years of IRI, music was banned in any shape or form except for rozeh and noheh khooni. Even this band (Arian) had to fight for years to be able to have the voice of the ladies in the band aired and they still have to sing in chorus. They keep pushing the envelope and for the circumstances they live in, they have achieved great accomplishment. This is the result of their popularity and perseverance. These young men and women were not responsible for the reign of IRI, they are resisting the pressures and they have accomplished a lot more than people sitting on the outside and complaining.
Lets give credit where the credit is due.

What a Power is Love !
by Mona 19 on Mon May 26, 2008 01:34 PM PDT"It is The Most Wonderful, The Greatest of all living powers.
Love gives life to the lifeless.
Love lights a flame in the heart that is cold. Love brings hope to the hopeless and gladdens the hearts of the sorrowful.
In the world of existence there is indeed no greater power than the power of love."
Many Thanks IRANdokht Jan...It's Delightful.
Regards,Mona :)

" First Iranian mixed gender singing group ?" Well, perhaps it makes some people feel accomplished. However false, or unrealistic, the false sense of accomplishement with damage them more in the long term, then to just face the truth. This duality in our daily lives in Iran, has screwed us all mentally.
Lying has become like eating.
Best,
Donya

First Iranian mixed gender singing group ?
Come On Guys ...
Bravo to these young people and Chris De Burg BUT this is NOT what I call representative of Iranian Identity.
Even the VHS bad copies of RangaRang before the Revolution did a better job in Bridging East and West.
But maybe some of you have alzheimers so I excuse you ... ;0)
LOL
Gentlemen of Arian...
by faryarm on Mon May 26, 2008 10:23 AM PDTIts heartening to see such east-west collaboration..DuBurg's voice is beautiful and touches the soul...i reserve comment for the vocals that follow it; not to be over critical; the music is pleasant ....however the Gentlemen of the Band must realise that the plucked eyebrows are a definite visual defect...even the ladies in their soft pastel hejab, look slightly overly done and super-plucked...and that's just on the blury youtube screen...
what is going on in Iranian fashion? ...is it PluckMania?
still more power to them in that vacuum that is Iran..
Nice
by Anonymous-Persis (not verified) on Mon May 26, 2008 09:39 AM PDTGreat performance. Arians have a great talent in Music.

by IRANdokht on Mon May 26, 2008 09:24 AM PDTAccording to Chris' fan blog the first CD has been released. Usually Arian's CDs can be purchased at the music and book stores on Westwood: some even ship them to you.
