Well,
by Rosie. on Sun Aug 01, 2010 03:10 PM PDTit's very important to be well educated so it's good that you're going to college. When you are there it should be easy to meet musicians and find venues to perform in.
You're the kind of musician who's sat in their room playing music alone. There are a lot of those and not infrequently they are some of the best. But at a certain point you have to go out there.
Apparently youtube has given you an outlet where you can both go out there and stay in there at the same time, That has pluses and minuses. It gives you an audience but it also means you could stay singing in your living room forever.. But you have a real talent. When I said your voice was one in a million I meant in the purity of the resonance and tone for a pop singer. Obviousy you're not Janis Japlin...that's a whole different story. A million-okay, that's an expression, but it's truly outstanding, especially for someone with almost no training.
When you accompany yourself on an instrument (especially one you haven't really mastered), the instrument accompanies you. But when you work with other musicians your voice has to accompany the instruments and this is what will give you more nuance and variety of style.s
As for university music programs I can understand that you couldn't find one that suits you. But you might consider another teacher (coach). It would be interesting to see how much of an upper register you really have, for instance.
Maybe you'll want to be a professional and maybe you won't but you really should give it a try. Whether you do or not you can always do music as a sideline. But please not just in your living room. Or in a pharmacy.
I think it would be a waste if you didn't pursue a professional career in music. and for sure there are many, many people who agree with me. Why deprive the world of your voice? Like Yolanda said, it's 'god-given'. That's a gift, but it's a gift meant to be shared.
Yep, it sure is...
by Rosie. on Sun Aug 01, 2010 06:16 AM PDTwhich I find personally very irksome. Not in terms of what it says about the young lady's talents, of course. It only makes them greater.
Just personally irksome to me. Couldn't make head or tail of the damn puzzle and now this...
______________
I'll be back later with more for you, Ayda.

Keep it up.
And no, i don't read music,
by Aydalicious on Sun Aug 01, 2010 05:55 AM PDTAnd no, i don't read music, everything i've learned is by my self, like playing the guitar
I just kept singing
by Aydalicious on Sun Aug 01, 2010 05:46 AM PDTI was very shy in my younger years, I didn't usually perform that often. Maybe here and there, at a restaurant or family event. A few performances in high school, but it wasn't anything more than that. Most performances were improvised...

by yolanda on Sat Jul 31, 2010 09:40 PM PDTWow! The artist showed up! Yeah!
Actually, you can record your songs on

and distribute your music CD on www.Amazon.com
Good luck!
Great Job
by shahabshahab on Sat Jul 31, 2010 09:14 PM PDTKeep up the good work Ayda!
...
by Red Wine on Sat Jul 31, 2010 05:19 PM PDTwe should to work together one day... playing piano and you sing... !
So what did you do in Sweden to perfect your voice?
by Rosie. on Sat Jul 31, 2010 05:15 PM PDTSchool performances, community theater? Where did you sing? Not just in the shower???
You don't read music either?
Hello,
by Aydalicious on Sat Jul 31, 2010 05:07 PM PDTMy dads from Teheran, so I'm half persian yes :)
My mom's from Turkey! No I don't have any training, and I have never had it either... Only training I had was with a song coach when I was 12/13 for a few months but otherwise thats it.
I moved to England initially to study, yes. I was studying pharmacy but decided to drop off after one year and started working. I applied for Psychology last year and recently got notified that I was accepted for the next term!
I really wanted to study music but I just could'nt find any program that was beneficial for me... So yeah.
Hi, Ayda!
by Rosie. on Sat Jul 31, 2010 03:38 PM PDTWell, yes, I do have a few questions (and maybe other people do too...).
I would like to know if your family is Iranian. I would also like to know about your training. Do you have training in jazz and classical (operatic) voice? Did you ever sing in a choir?
I would also like to know if you moved to England to study, and if so, are you studying just music or are you in a university studying academic subjects as well?
Thanks,
Rosie
MAY I SAY THANK YOU?
by Aydalicious on Sat Jul 31, 2010 03:00 PM PDTI have just finished reading through all the comments on here and would just want to give a big THANK YOU to everyone who has listening to my song, I'm glad you enjoyed it, and thank you for your beautiful comments, it really warms my heart.. Truly... Even though it feels a bit funny reading about people where they're analyzing you.
I wanted to write earlier but it wasnt until I read your comment Rosie that I decided to join just to reply to you!
I think there seems to be a bit of a confusion because I havn't said that I started singing at 16, I have been singing all my life. But at 16 I did start learning the guitar and along with that I began writing songs as well.
I'm not from america unfortunately, I have never even been there. I did apply for the Swedish Idol, and I did come through as one of the 101 appliants who made it through to the capital but was then cut off during the last auditions. I dont really like idol, its too commercial.
Speaking of commercial I would also like to add that I have more videos for you to take a look at so you can get an idea of my sound.
I am really proud of this song, it was written during a time I was finding it hard to cope with my life so I'm really glad you liked it...
Wow this was a long comment -.-
Is there anything else you want to know? :)
Love
Ayda

Oh, Ben, they do have much in common!
by Rosie. on Sat Jul 31, 2010 02:11 PM PDTI have a feeling Ayda is reading the thread and I wonder if she would come and tell us a little bit about her background and her plans. We are more fun than youtube!
All you have to do is register, Ayda. But if you do come on this thread, never come back here again or you'll be sorry...this place is like quicksand.

Beautiful and fresh voice, similar to Astrud Gilberto's in the Girl from Ipanema, or Ali Nazari's voice in Bot Parast
Her style and her voice is
by benross on Sat Jul 31, 2010 01:41 PM PDTHer style and her voice is not quite comparable to Sarah Mclachlan. Her material, maybe, somewhat. I don't know -as I said- what reminded me of her. But as you see I was not alone. Just a wild guess: the elegance in her natural femininity.
Her voice is more resonant than Sarah Maclachlan's
by Rosie. on Sat Jul 31, 2010 02:04 PM PDTfuller, richer, no nasality, what is called 'pure tone'...there are many similarities but this is a truly extraordinary voice. It hits you the way Barbra Streisand (in a very diferent way of course) just stunned people when she first came on the scene. You just knew this was a one in a million pop voice. (Well anyway that's how it hit me when I heard it).
What is almost identical to Sarah Machlachlan is the way she 'attacks' the 'head voice' (goes into the high notes) and how they sound. Then there is the type of material, and something about her herself--the earnestness, the purity. I keep saying 'pure'.. It's like seeing an ordinary young person (I say this in the best sense of the word) embody a choir of angels. Very earthly and very ethereal at the same time.
.....
by yolanda on Sat Jul 31, 2010 01:02 PM PDTShe has a God-given voice and she is better than the singers on "American Idol"..........I used to watch "American Idol" religiously, but not anymore due to the fact that they have mediocre singers with lacklustrous performance plus some of the judges is not professional enough. I wish she could try out for American Idol and let the world see her talent.
Good luck with her career!
She is outstanding. ps
by Rosie. on Sat Jul 31, 2010 12:31 PM PDTI'm almost positive there is a mistake in her bio here. It says she has been doing music all her life and then it says she started at 16. She is 20. I'm pretty sure it should say she started at 6. She is no doubt jazz and probably classically trained. You don't get to where she is in four years, even if you're a 'natural'. Well, never say never but I doubt it.
__________
ps ?????????? I'm almost positive she changed her bio. Now it says she is '19, not 21', and I'm pretty sure the rest of it has changes too. But it still says she started music at 16. ????????!!!!!!!!!!!!
