Good Change from the usual Persian music Scene
by mrramin on Fri Apr 08, 2011 05:28 AM PDTJust because of the different Artistic expression, I loved it. I think any out of the NORM Artistic expression (which we don't have alot of these days) is a welcome change. Thanks ASA for having the courage to do something different. I hope more of our kids start thinking outside the box and explore / exercise their artistic emotions.
Good grief...
by Sanaz Raji on Fri Apr 08, 2011 03:48 AM PDTWhy all the hate on Asa? I came across on her stuff back in 2009 and have loved everything she has produced. Sure, her music isn't for everything, but goodness, shouldn't we be giving her two thumbs up for challenging the music scene a little? She isn't making strictly "Persian" or "Modern" music, but falling somewhere in the middle, exploring a new sound that I gather pays homage to her personal history.
My favorite song of Asa's, "Merci Sexy" has many negative comments on YouTube like the ones that I'll share with you:
1) "i hope this is a joke... for her own good.
dokhtar, boro darseto bekhun, haha"

2) "shame on you...go study"

3) "shameful"

Are these negative comments because she doesn't conform to gender norms that Iranians girls must adhere to and that she isn't ashamed of her body? Is this why the majority on YouTube called her videos a "shameful"? It is okay for us to laud all other non-Iranian performers who do similar things, but when an Iranian does it, we can't accept it.
Asa, don't listen the haters! Keeping doin' your thang :)
Nothing wrong with "modern music"...
by Roozbeh_Gilani on Thu Apr 07, 2011 11:52 PM PDTBut this one was perhaps a bit too modern for me and some others it seems.
Below a modern take on an old Gilak folk song, more to my taste.

Take Red Wine's advice for God's sake to stay in LA but do not bother with professional music trainings. No talent Girl!
