Peykar!
by pedro on Thu May 12, 2011 06:07 PM PDTI have no hard feeling with JJ or IC for deleting my post. I said what I felt was right without offending anyone, and you heard it. I wish
to thank you one more time for standing up for our Iranian Artists, actors and singers and doing it with elegance too.
I am Persia. I pray to Ahoura Mazda.
Get to know Parissa.
by Paykar on Wed May 11, 2011 09:34 PM PDTThat is how she spells her name on facebook.

Answer to Pedro's deleted post.
by Paykar on Wed May 11, 2011 12:12 PM PDTPedro had posted regarding my exchange with cc. The very condensed version of what he said is that he thanked me for doing what I did.
His post vanished as I was responding to his observation. The post was entirely devoid of any offensive language; I do not understant why it was deleted.
Here is my response to Pedro.
What we write here is the only criterion others have to help them make a judgement about our character. If you have read some of my stuff, I have an edgy, frequently impolite approach. Usually I attack institutionalized Ideas/beliefs and one other group, whom I would even get nastier with are professional/zealot supporters of the Islamic Republic.
There is a tiny minority that seems their primary reason for being around here is to get attention by any means.
Thank you for understanding my motivation for doing what I did.
P.S. I am totally Ok with anyone attacking or even insulting me, as long as they afford me the same right.
So beautiful!
by Shepesh on Wed May 11, 2011 09:46 AM PDTI have forwarded this to friends. Beautiful!
Thank
by Paykar on Tue May 10, 2011 07:53 PM PDTyou for doing me a favor. There must be a reason that you are subjected to these kinds of posts.
If I had any respect for you, I would have asked you to elaborate on the string of adjective you used.
At the very least, you have learned not to shout.
Paykar boro peye karet
by ComraidsConcubine on Tue May 10, 2011 07:36 PM PDTthat is just about the dumbest, illiterate, anal analysis around and I've been subjected to quite a few around here.
You ought to seek help for your very evident psychosis.
P.S. that's the last post of yours I've read.
Anyone know more about "navaa"?
by Ari Siletz on Tue May 10, 2011 03:12 PM PDTParissa (born Fatemeh Vaaezi 1950, Shahsavaar, Iran) is singing in dastgah e navaa. It is "said" that this dastgaah goes back to the Saasaanian era and that Ibn Sina has made mention of it. Does anyone know where Ibn Sina mentions this dastgaah by name?
Masterful singing and flawless accompaniment by the Dastan ensemble.
2003 Album Parissa with Dastan ensemble. "Extraordinary in every sense" (Le Monde). "A miraculous voice (Jazzthetic).
Take a deep breath , Hold....Exhale. do it six to ten times.
by Paykar on Tue May 10, 2011 03:01 PM PDTAre you calm now?
'reduced to the desperation of a performance."
Desperation, does it not entail financial desperation? She is performing strongly and happily, so I think we cannot allow a very wide range of desperation in this case.
What about later years. Does it not imply old?
Telling you, you have a thin skin, is a personal attack? You prove it all the time. So it's not an attack. It's just description of an slice of your real self.
You have thin skin but a big mouth to match the vast emptiness of your gigantic persona. Now this is an attack, albeit a correct assertion
Your shouting, further reveals the anxiety of a poor soul that is eating you up(or causing you to over-eat). Admit it, you are an angry person. Fight the urge to start shouting at this point. Take a deep breath...
I am not a Psychic, but I can be a good judge of your character when you frequently provide us with clues. Frankly dear, you are the one who is projecting.
Repeat the above exercise before you respond. It might help you not to shout.
Paykar. Oh here we go
by ComraidsConcubine on Tue May 10, 2011 02:10 PM PDTREAD! READ! READ my actual comment below. Did I type ANYTHING about money?
PLEASE, PLEASE, LEARN TO READ!
STOP PROJECTING!
And your attempt at a personal attack is just pure rubbish.
Are you psychic too? There seem to be so many psychics on this website, who know what I think, not only that, they pre-empt my next thought!
THE AUDACITY , EGO-CENTRIC AUDACITY AND ARROGANCE.
Don't mean to beat a dead horse, so speak
by Bavafa on Tue May 10, 2011 01:43 PM PDTBut even if she was doing this for money, what is wrong with that? In many cultures and circles, earning a living in an honest way is an honorable thing regardless of the age, type of work or place.
And she is having fun doing it, all the while bringing so many of us so much joy. So with that I say

by Paykar on Tue May 10, 2011 01:29 PM PDT"Horribly saddening to see a lady, a true lady, of such stature and
dignity, reduced to the desperation of a performance at such a late age,
bereft of the timbre and exaltations of her instrument."
Calm down and read your own words.
She does not need money to do this. It's for the love of it and she does astonishingly well even at her age. The measure is one's ability to deliver, not chronological age.
Knowing you have very thin skin, I spare you from my biting words.
Below is her performance of nearly forty years ago. Comparing now and then, she is doing a great job.

My all time favorite
by Souri on Tue May 10, 2011 12:09 PM PDTParisa is and always has been my favorite! And now that she got older, she is still more adorable and respected. Few lady singers have preserved their talent and popularity in the unique way as Parisa did.
What a great voice, what a great music....
by Roozbeh_Gilani on Tue May 10, 2011 11:44 AM PDTI thoroughly enjoyed it, Thank you
But hey, I also listened to the advice on not taking prozac!
"Personal business must yield to collective interest."
Why oh why?
by ComraidsConcubine on Tue May 10, 2011 12:01 PM PDTWhy oh why can't people actually read, you know, like read, what I've typed without their own knee-jerk, ego-centric, ridiculously projected reactions? Sheer rubbish gibberish against something I haven't even typed!
she still sounds as heavenly as ever
by Mash Ghasem on Tue May 10, 2011 11:21 AM PDTAnd as mentioned the quality of this recording is not really good.
Thanks Ramin for the clip.
Pay no mind to CC, she seems to have a 'competitive' thing about almost all female artists! Wonder if she could sing only a minute of this poem? NOT.
Beautiful!
by Farnoosh on Tue May 10, 2011 11:02 AM PDTIt is a beautiful performance by a true master.
ComraidsConcubine: You write the nastiest comments of anyone on this website. You consistently appear on all artists posts and degrade and insult them and their work. At least use your real artist name when you attack other artists' work so that you take responsibility for your vicious and jealous comments. It is truly disheartening to see you have such free reign on this website to create nothing but negative feelings.
There are many things that can change you, this was one of them
by ramintork on Tue May 10, 2011 10:59 AM PDTI remember we had just left Kermanshah and come to Shiraz. My father was working on a new project in the Shiraz Petrochemical plant which was why we were there. Then I saw this on TV. I was mesmerised. Prior to that we used to switch off the radio if the music was not pop! I listened to Parisa and she was this young beautiful woman with an amazing graceful voice.
We visited the Hafiz and Saadi moselums later and I couldn't help thinking about the same day. That festival must have had a lot of impact on people, I named my daughter after her!
Years later I heard from a friend she had come to London and she had lost the sharpness of her voice, she still sounds wonderful. Today even pleasures such as listening to this has an air of sadness and pleasure for me. Pleasure because of the love and familiarity, but sadness because having a glimpse of what we once had seems like finding lost treasure. Parisa sounded wonderful whatever the Dastgah she sang be it Nava, Bayat Tork, Mahur, Dashti, Chahargah.
To make a comparision here is the original:

Of course the other great lady of Song is Henghame Akhavan and her work in "Morghe sahar".
horrible!

by Paykar on Tue May 10, 2011 08:03 AM PDTGreat work. Have been listening to it forever. I agree with you on her technical ability, and lack there of in the new singers.
