Not a big fan of "new versions" of old folks song.
by Roozbeh_Gilani on Wed May 11, 2011 04:06 PM PDTI know some old Gilaki folks music which take me back all the way to those innocent childhood days, scaping Tehran's summer heat for cool mountains of ancestral home in Gilan. I recently heard one of them being rehashed and played by a LA outfit on youtube, and no offence to the artists, as I know they are just being creative, but it simply made me cringe.
I think folk songs are part of our heritage linking us to our past and our ancestors daily life, experience and struggles, and as such need to be protected and preserved.
