Not a big fan of "new versions" of old folks song.

by Roozbeh_Gilani on

I know some old Gilaki folks music which take me back all the way to those innocent childhood days, scaping Tehran's summer heat for cool mountains of ancestral home in Gilan. I recently heard one of  them being rehashed and played by a LA outfit on youtube, and no offence to the artists, as I know they are just being creative, but it simply made me cringe.

I  think folk songs are part of our heritage linking us to our past and our ancestors daily life, experience and struggles, and as such need to be protected and preserved.
