Queen's pyramid discovered
BBC World Service
French archaeologists have discovered the 4,000-year-old remains of
an ancient queen's pyramid near Cairo.
The pyramid of Queen Ankh-sn-Pepi, wife of King Pepi I, lies in Sakkara,
an ancient royal cemetery just 32 kilometres (20 miles) south of Cairo.
Archaeologists, led by Jean Leclant, found a stone in the queen's burial
chamber bearing special prayers to protect the dead and ensure sustenance
in the afterlife. Until this discovery, such texts had only been found
in pyramids of kings. Why they were placed in the Queen's chamber remains
a mystery. >>>

The centerpiece of the initiative is ending 1981 import restrictions
on U.S. products such as peanuts, peanut butter, portabello mushrooms,

* 10-minute laugh
Abbas Abbaspur Tamijani
writes: Excellent ["Albright
in Tehran"]! It was really amazing, especially pictures of Maedeh
wearing that scarf was very funny. I had really believed it in the beginning
and could not understand how I had been so behind the news!! I had a lot
of fun and was laughing at that story for 10 minuets.
* Disgusting
A. Leissner writes: Your April Fools day article is extremely
silly and stupid ["Albright
in Tehran"]! Although Americans are naive and confused enough
to resume relations with the oppressive regime of Iran, anticipating such
foolishness and elaborating it is the most disgusting thought one could
have!

A captivating vocalist, Sima Bina is one of the leading exponents of
the traditional music of Khorasan in Eastern Iran. For two decades she
has done extensive research on Persian folk songs, collecting, recording,
writing and re-interpreting popular regional music. By traveling to many
remote areas, she has been able to gather and revive a collection of almost
forgotten songs and melodies. In 1994, she became the first female Iranian
vocalist to tour the West since the revolution.
