Dear Flying Solo, after

by Anahid Hojjati on

Dear Flying Solo, after your comment about comparing prose and poetry, I got curious about your writings.  I just finished "A Saturday in May".  No wonder you prefer prose.  Your writing in this story is excellent.  I really liked it.  I am in my forties also and it is nice to read your work since it rings more true.  I look forward to reading more of your prose.

Thanks again Flying Solo and

Thanks again Flying Solo and Jahanshah for your comments. JJ you are right to zero on that section.  Personally I like that section and last section the best.  Maybe it is because the other ones; first 3 sections, deal with situations that in examples of real life that I used for, had a reasonably good ending.  However,  the last two are just very tragic to the bitter end and therefore these sections ended up more touching.  By the way, it is hard to dedicate this poem to any one person since sections of it deal with issues so universal to many Iranians.  But if I had to dedicate it to one person that would be to Q who both in life and death touched so many.  To everyone who is touched by this poem, please donate to Amnesty International.

Thanks JJ for the picture

Thanks JJ for the picture you added to the poem and for your comment.  By the way, this poem is Farsi translation of the poem "Lullaby for everyone" that you published on your site some days ago. It is not a 100% translation.  I took some liberties which I think is fine since I wrote both ones.  As far as turning it into a song, I don't know.  You definitely would not want me to sing it! Interestingly, my daughter already sings the English version and she does a good job especially the way she sings the phrase "sweet loving lady."

Sing it

I have tears running down my face... This could be turned into a song.
