Cock Fighters

"The ranks that you wear on your uniforms represent the chain of command. The soldiers with the higher ranks will give you orders. You must obey orders. This system is a hierarchy. The tradition and history of the ranks is as follows: each mark on your rank represents a penis! A private has one penis, a corporal has two, and a sergeant has three." One of my Basic Military Qualifications instructors mentioned these words with a grin on his face. I was becoming a young soldier in the Canadian Forces and I did not at the time appreciate what these words represented. In the instructor's example, the symbolism of domination and patriarchy were clear. In fact, these words in a way defined the five years of my experience as a soldier.>>>

بازنده جنگ غزه كیست؟

جنگ خونین و فاجعه‌‌بار غزه پس از سه هفته و در آستانه تحلیف رییس جمهوری جدید آمریكا آقای ‌اوباما به پایان رسید. مردم غزه این مدت را در زیر حملات سنگین شبانه روزی اسراییل با ترس و وحشت به سر بردند. جنگ بیش از 1300 كشته از مردم غزه، و از جمله سدها كودك و زن بی دفاع، بر جای‌ گذاشت. علاوه بر آن، چندین هزار نفر دیگر زخمی و مجروح شدند. تلفات اسراییلیان در جریان این جنگ از 14 نفر تجاوز نكرد. سرانجام نیز جنگ با اعلام یك طرفه آتش بس از سوی اسراییل، و سپس اعلام مشابهی از سوی‌ حماس پایان گرفت. در این جنگ، هر دو طرف متخاصم ادعای پیروزی كردند. این ادعاها هر دو تا حدی درست است. هر دو طرف این جنگ می‌توانند بر روی ویرانی‌های غزه و تلفات سنگینی كه بر مردم غیر نظامی غزه وارد شد خود را پیروز بنامند. ولی آیا این جنگ بازنده‌ای نداشت؟ برای پیدا كردن بازنده جنگ باید از صحنه جنگ بیرون رفت و آن را هزاران كیلومتر دورتر از غزه جستجو كرد.>>>

انتخابات آزاد

اندیشه آزاد زمانی کارساز است که ساختار و کاربرد مشخص و معینی داشته باشد و اندیشه آزادی برای یک فرد، مفهوم خود را تنها در روابط اجتماعی مجموعهای از شهروندان پیدا میکند وگرنه تجریدی و تخیلی است. آزادی اجتماعی، چارچوب دارد و در رعایت اصول و قواعدی متضمن است. اما تعین و تبیین حد وحدود این اصول و قواعد و چارچوبها، وابسته به تحرکات و تبادلات اندیشه شهروندان و نمایندگان رسمی و غیررسمی آنان است که خود را در انجمنها و سازمانها و گروههای فکری و حرفهای و اقتصادی و فرهنگی و هنری معرفی کرده و بروز میدهد تا در حق تعیین سرنوشت خود مشارکت کند. برآیند این تحرکات و تبادلات، اصل تغییر است که خود ثابت بوده و هرآنچه پیرامون اوست، در تبادل است.>>>
