by Latina on Mon Jan 09, 2012 05:25 PM PSTActually, yolanda individuals being blocked from the web site is more common than you realize.
I have been on this web site since the beginning of blogging on it. I have actually, lost track of how many have been blocked. Yep! They were too many blocked.
You will be shocked to find out that I probably came close to being blocked myself long ago. Let us just say that I and another individual could not see eye to eye.
It is one of the reasons, I stopped debating on the political blogs and articles. :o)
Besides the doctor insists that I minimize my stress level. We all know the political blogs can become extremely stressful and at times toxic.
...............
by Latina on Sun Jan 08, 2012 08:20 PM PSTI would like to be added to the Independent.
Yes, I know I don't get involved much in political debates on this web site.

by hamsade ghadimi on Thu Sep 01, 2011 07:36 AM PDTmk, i just noticed this blog (i don't frequent this site as i used to!). thanks for the mention. if your categorization means that independents are not for democracy, then i beg to differ. if the pro-democracy category means those who strictly adhere to the policies and philosophies of past leaders, then right on. i think even if mosadegh was alive today, given his intelligence and political savvy, he would've tweaked his beliefs to adapt to the times in which we live now. at any rate, i take your blog as a humouros jab at categorization of people in such crude manner. shifteh and niloofar khanoom in the same category!? i don't think shifteh participated in hamayesh bozorg as ... and are the niac category and vf category two exclusive sets? are the reformist category and vf category two separate and exclusive sets?
vpk, regarding your last post: i think you answered yourself. you're a funny guy and at least mk nailed one category. :)
great yolanda. I just saw your comment

JJ Himself Has Been a Victim of This Stuff
by JahanKhalili on Mon Aug 29, 2011 08:06 PM PDTI saw Iranians posting in some discussion forum that the guy is a special agent sent by the IRI to spy on the very "important" Iranians abroad who are supposedly a great big threat to the IRI.
Its stupid.
The only thing missing in a gathering of Iranians talking about who is what, is a psychiatrist.
Its Not Just About Politics
by JahanKhalili on Mon Aug 29, 2011 08:00 PM PDTIranians do this stuff in general.
Everyone knows all kinds of BS "facts" about you without even having a single damned conversation with you or meeting you - all through the Iranian "grapevine".
They shouldn't be too surprised if people who find this unnacceptable, don't like them in return.
Maybe they should improve themselves, instead of crying "foul" when someone calls them on it, and hiding behind other Iranians so they can keep doing the same stuff - i.e. blabbering about who is what with other Iranians.
RE Iranian.com JahanKhalili
by BoosBoos on Mon Aug 29, 2011 07:54 PM PDTIranian.com is one of the most anti- Iranian sites I've ever come across. If ever the KKK wanted an anti Iranian site, JJ could just sell them this one without making changes to it. Unfortunately, (and seriously) I think that this will have a terrible impact on kids growing up in the diaspora. In many ways JJ is NOT doing the Iranian community any favors. For every music video -- there are 20 negative portrayals of Iranians. The site tips in favor of showing the worst side of Iranians.
Peace.
by JahanKhalili on Mon Aug 29, 2011 07:44 PM PDT
People "know" about you from others - not through directly talking to you, or from having even a single conversation withyou.

JahanKhalili .... 1/2 Iranian?
by BoosBoos on Mon Aug 29, 2011 07:49 PM PDTI've written about people accusing others of being "IRI spies" etc.
Please read it:
//iranian.com/main/blog/boosboos/iranian-...
Regrettably, it seems that a lot of non-Iranians use this site without the best of intentions towards Iranians. Read the blog.
Peace.

When Dealing With Iranians, Your Reputation Precedes You

I'm with ayatoilet on the pigeonholing BS
by JahanKhalili on Mon Aug 29, 2011 07:41 PM PDTI'm just so sick of Iranians and their sh-tty suspicions about who is pro-IRI, who is anti, who is this, who is that.
All this crap makes me very glad that I'm only half Iranian.
Oh boy
by JahanKhalili on Mon Aug 29, 2011 07:37 PM PDTI couldn't care less who is supposedly affiliated with what group.
Why are Iranians so obsessed with this stuff? Why can't they just be normal?
Mossadegh wanted to rule by decree

How does that make his followers "democratic"?
Can we stop the abuse of history?
They also seem impervious to reason and logic, seems we need to classify them as a personality cult.

Dear Statira
by Masoud Kazemzadeh on Sun Aug 28, 2011 01:41 PM PDTDear Statira,
INF stands for Iran National Front.
Among the pro-democracy I mentioned Fariba Amini, Mehrban, and Vildemose. I have no idea anout the gender of G. Rahmanian.
Among the monarchists, I do not know the gender of Anonymous Observer, Simorgh5555, Anglophile, Oon Yaroo, Shushtari, Aria, Iran Paidar 1st. Usually Aria is a male name, but he/she might be using it as a term for heritage.
Among the reformists, I included Shifteh Ansari and Soosan Khanoom.
I had written: Posters may wish to add their own corrections, additions, modifications. My apologies if I missed anyone.
In other words, posters could add their corrections. In fact, several did.
This is my opinion, which might be right or wrong. It was part humor and part teasing. It was part getting back at those who had been insulting me.
Best,
Masoud

by statira on Sun Aug 28, 2011 01:10 PM PDTThis is the most rediculus blog on I.C. First of all he omitted almost all the women participating on I.C from his list( sort of Sex discrimination), then he categorizes people in a group that they might not belong to.
Btw, what is INF?

If you're against any regime in Iran for 3,000 years you're anti-Iranian. Not that I'm surprised. It's one of the reasons this site will never represent the true views of Iranians in Iran or Iranians in the diaspora. I pretty much noticed that when I put a site against panturkism on Facebook (protecting the Iranian identity of Rumi), which quickly got 130,000 subscribers and only about 3 or 4 people acknowledged it here. Have a look: //www.causes.com/causes/241707

You missed one category
by alimostofi on Thu Aug 25, 2011 10:25 PM PDTYou missed one category which we all belong to, namely Cultural. As Lenin said: "Politics begin where the masses are, not where there are thousands, but where there are millions, that is where serious politics begin." The common thread amongst all of us is what keeps us connected in the most sacred way. Thanks for the guide.

John Stuart Mill, On Liberty
by Masoud Kazemzadeh on Thu Aug 25, 2011 05:20 PM PDTJohn Stuart Mill's On Liberty is the second most influential work on my thinking. It is a classic. I highly recommend reading it for all those interested on the meaing of freedom.
It is available for free here:

Shazde jaan
by Masoud Kazemzadeh on Thu Aug 25, 2011 05:24 PM PDTShazde jaan,
According to (or attributed to) Thomas Jefferson: "dissent is the highest form of patriotism."
In my opinion, dissent is what make a society think, reconsider its taboos and prejudices. Those who thoughtfully dissent are the true gems of a society who need to be protected, nourished, and celebrated.
Keep dissenting from any and all that you find suffocating and oppressive. Whether I or others agree with the substance or your methods of expression is not germane. What is germane is that we respect the right of all to dissent.
As an admirer of John Stuart Mill, I found his great work On Liberty, one of the most wonderful philosophical works ever written. I particularly like and have quoted his saying I rather be a dissatisfied Socrates than a satisfied pig.
This is the actual quote:
"it is better to be a human being dissatisfied than a pig satisfied; better to be Socrates dissatisfied than a fool satisfied. And if the fool, or the pig, are of a different opinion, it is because they only know their own side of the question."
Best regards,
Masoud
