If you search "Our Death is our wedding" online, you will find a lot of sites......but they are all in English:
//www.obit-mag.com/articles/funeral-songs/poems/our-death-is-our-wedding
They said the poem is from Mystic ode 833...I believe Mystic ode is Mathnavi or Masnavi. This poem seems to be a very famous & popular poem, that is great!
I searched Shahriari's site, but he does not post any Farsi poems, only the English translations:
//www.rumionfire.com/mathnavi/index.htm
P.S. I hit a jackpot! I found Shahriar Shahriari's site with Hafiz' poems in Farsi and English. This guy is super talented. He should publish all the translated poems!

Here is Shahriar's bio....he used to be a mechanical engineer...he lives in LA! OMG!

by yolanda on Fri Jun 25, 2010 06:58 PM PDTHi RD,
I copied and saved "Berimid, Berimid" in English......that poem is definitely a keeper. I found another poem of Rumi that matches the spirit of "Berimid". Here is the poem:
******************************
Our death is our wedding with eternity.
What is the secret? "God is One."
The sunlight splits when entering the windows of the house.
This multiplicity exists in the cluster of grapes;
It is not in the juice made from the grapes.
For he who is living in the Light of God,
The death of the carnal soul is a blessing.
Regarding him, say neither bad nor good,
For he is gone beyond the good and the bad.
Fix your eyes on God and do not talk about what is invisible,
So that he may place another look in your eyes.
It is in the vision of the physical eyes
That no invisible or secret thing exists.
But when the eye is turned toward the Light of God
What thing could remain hidden under such a Light?
Although all lights emanate from the Divine Light
Don't call all these lights "the Light of God";
It is the eternal light which is the Light of God,
The ephemeral light is an attribute of the body and the flesh.
...Oh God who gives the grace of vision!
The bird of vision is flying towards You with the wings of desire.
*************************
Rumi must have a lot of faith to write a poem like this. It is just awesome!

*****************************************
When sorrows upon seekers' hearts settle, will not rattle
When beauty with comfort starts battle, will unsettle.
When to fate they submit their mind, themselves will bind
Finally, when Beloved's beautiful curls find, put egos behind.
If they come to us a moment, and sit near, disappear
Yet when joy in their hearts will appear, becomes clear.
When laughter like red rubies to my eyes cling, my tears bring
From my face, when hidden secretes spring, joyously they sing.
understand that a lonely tear is but a gem that is dear
With a love so sincere, face early-risers they fear.
The healing balm of the pain of love is not easy for sure, and is pure
Those who use their mind to find such a cure, many failure will endure
Those who climbed fortune's ladder wrung after wrung, were strung and hung
And the ones who in praise sing Hafiz's song, are thought wrong.
Those favored by this spirit, noble and pure, tempt and allure
For love's pain if a cure they must secure, then failure will endure.

by R2-D2 on Fri Jun 25, 2010 03:29 PM PDTThese are beautiful videos - Remember, in one of the previous blogs, you had mentioned that you had watched the Power of Myth videos by Joseph Campbell :) - The duality that it talks about, is exactly what is being explained by Rumi here ....
In this World that we live in, which is restricted by Time and Space, everything comes in pairs: Good and Bad; Pretty and Ugly; Man and Woman; etc., etc.
To experience a moment of Eternity, one can transcend these dualities - even in this Physical World

by yolanda on Thu Jun 24, 2010 10:08 PM PDTHi! RD,
I found another version of the English translation for the poem in your blog. This version seems to be an abridged version of Rumi's original poem.
Shajarian's voice is heavenly......his son's voice is great, too. I guess it is genetic, LOL!
Apparently Afghans and Tajiks read Rumi's poems, too!
A very pretty song with beautiful pictures!
Very beautiful and elegant Farsi calligraphy!
This Sufi poem of Rumi is absolutely beauitiful. It is one of my favorite Rumi poems! It talks about duality....."every part of the world is paired with its mate"..."Heaven is the man, Earth is the woman"......"day and night are perfecting each other's mutual work"....wow! It makes perfect sense. I found the book which has this poem: The Art of Loving.
Thank you for the Hafez link.....I will listen to it later!

by yolanda on Thu Jun 24, 2010 12:26 AM PDTHi! RD,
This poem literally blows me away...it is absolutely beautiful and thought-provoking ...I have to say this poem got my attention by accident....I listened to all the tracks...I don't understand a word of what Shamlou was reciting......but "Berimid" stands out because it rhymes perfectly in Farsi...it is so poetic!
Shahriar Shahriari is amazing that he was able to make "Berimid" rhymes so beautifully in English.....this guy is definitely my favorite translator....he is way better than Coleman Barks! It is disappointing that Shahriar is not selling any of his translated Rumi's poems....my 2nd favorite translator is Franak Moshiri who translated "The Alley" by Fereydoon Moshiri.
Thank you for finding and posting the English version of "Berimid". This poem has made my day!

Bemirid Bemirid, By Rumi - English Translation
by R2-D2 on Wed Jun 23, 2010 11:53 PM PDTThis is by Shahriar Shahriari also - The same gentleman that you posted his translation for the poem in this blog:
Go and die, go and die,
For this love go and die,
When in this love you die
You will let spirits fly.
Go and die, go and die,
Fear no death, don’t be shy
When in this dust you lie
Your spirit will soar up high.
Go and die, go and die,
Let this existence pass by
This existence is your tie
And prisoners you and I.
With an axe cut the tie
And this, your prison, defy
When your chains you untie
With Kings, identify.
Go and die, go and die,
The handsome King satisfy
For the Lord when you die
Your glories multiply.
Go and die, go and die,
Like the tearful clouds, cry
When the cloud has run dry
You are the light of the eye.
Silence try, silence try
As close as you get to die
All your life, you apply
Your sigh and silence deny.
