Darius Kadivar

Sargord Khan thanks for the feedback but ...

by Darius Kadivar on

I am refering to  officially acknowledged religious institutions in WESTERN Democracies not some third world african or thirdworld African or Asian country where democracy exists only by name and not in practice very much like in Iran which Your Joon Joony Foreign Minister Mottaki claims is a democratic society by excellence.

Why WESTERN ? Precisely because You People are trying to use it as a scapegoat in every single argument you make in order to claim that Iranian society is democratic under the current theocracy. That is a failed argument and the reason you people use it is not a secret. We perfectly know that your goal is to undermine Western Confidence in their institutions on the same obsolete and well known and tested Third World Rhetoric that wishes to reduce everything in the West to Colonial Arrogance.

The entire Debate over the Burqua in France today is symptomatic of how Islam is trying to distort the real debate on grounds of Freedom when it is first and foremost about secularism which guarantess the Free choice of individuals at large and not merely in regard to Women's Rights.

You think you can destablize Western democracies when in reality you are a laughing stock at best.

If you want to compare Iran's strength or weaknesses with the Western Model as Mottaki does in his interview with Zakaria here:

//iranian.com/main/2010/jan/manouchehr-mottaki

Then you need to make a more accurate comparison and offer clear examples to sustain your argument and not another ambiguous reference.

The Knights of Malta or the Swiss Guards in the Vatican never go around preaching violence. Unlike Your Religious Bassijees or Revolutionary guards who have no UN representation, The Malta Knights are actually cooperating with NGO's in the United Nations and are OFFICIALLY acknowledged as Humanitarian organizations. The Swiss Guards are at the Vatican for display and personal security of the Pope and religious authorities but they cannot threaten or attack people in the streets and no religious authority in the Vatican can go around and openly call for the death of anyone who offends the Pope or Jesus. For instance When Ron Howard's Da Vinci Code was released the Worst the Vatican could do was demand that the movie not to be projected in Italy ( which was naturally ignored) and same thing for Martin Scorsese's "The Passion of the Christ" movie that fundamentalist christians wanted to burn cinemas and call for the death of the actor and director in the same way Khomeiny did for Salman Rushdie. Yet the Pope had to condemn such violence publically.

Do You understand the difference ? In a Truly democratic society Democracy is guaranteed by the separation between the Church and the State. That is true whether you live in a Constitutional Monarchy like Britian or Spain or any other European nation or in a Secular Republic like in France, Germany or Italy.

How do you explain that the head of Your Judiciary Larijani ( who is a religious man in addition to being the brother of the head of the IRI parliment ) can so easily make racial comments like towards President Obama by calling him a Nigger ( Berlusconi in Italy called him Tanned but he was vehemently gunned down in the Italian press and parliment for his clumsy comment) and get away with it ?

Or when you see Ayatollah Jannati openly call for the execution of more protestors and justifies the death, the same for that other Ayatollah Khatami ( not to be confused with the former reformist President) also calls for more hangings of opponents to the Islamic Republic ...

In most of your comments you display the typical "langue de bois" aka  "formated response" to serious questions by wanting to draw absurd parrallels between a Non Democratic State like Iran today with the shortcomings existing in Western Democracies. Forgetting that the shortcomings or violence that can appear in a Democratic society like let's say  when the Police disperses protestors during the Copenhaguen protests never lead to death's and if they do it is due to police blunder that can happen like in any unpredictable situation. But you guys will go and use this as a pretext to justify the unjustifiable by falsly drawing parrallels between the verified democratic institutions in Western Democracies with those that exist in the Islamic Republic. For instance currently Ahmadinejad and the Iranian government claims that the IRI's judiciary is independant and that the case of French teacher Clotilde Reiss is in the hands of Iranian justice and that the government will abide to the Judiciary's ultimate decision, but then Ahmadinejad draws a condition that if France makes a gesture and Sets Free Vakili Rad an Assassin, It may help solve the case of Clotild Reiss ... doesn't that contradict the so called independance of the IRI's Judiciary ?

You guys use Double Talk and twisted comparisons in order to justify a system of government which by definition is anything but democratic and which is entirely defined on obsolete superstitious mindsets which European and North American democracies have overcome since the Middle Ages ...

There is a difference between claiming that a regime has shortcomings (as is the case for all political establishments and states whether they are democratic or not) and claiming that regime's are identical. You cannot put on the same level on the balance a democratic system of government and a dictatorship.

On the other hand When it comes to war, even if it is perfectly legitimate to criticize a country's stance and foreign policy even if the country waging war is a democracy.  It is absurd to claim that because George Bush invaded Afghanistan and Iraq that the American State and institutions turned into dictatorships regardless of whether or not individual liberties may have been mishandled or limited on exceptional occasions in what that country's government believes is necessary for maintaining it's citizens security.

Despite the Guantanamo prison ( which has not been shut down by Obama yet despite his promises) holding suspected "terrorists" or affiliated "terrorists" they still all have lawyers and the American Press is not suppressed or shut down nor are journalists imprisoned for denouncing it. Neither under Bush were Journalists killed or arrested for merely expressing an opinion. The climate of Paranoia in the context of a War on Terror following the Sept 11Th attacks was certainly encouraged by the Bush administration and less by Obama today through their respective speeches or political actions on the international scale but to counter their policies the nation's press, parody programs and so forth were never reduced. Quite the contrary Bush became an easy target for the liberal press on MSNBC or on the Daily Show and NEVER were Bill Maher, or Jon Stewart arrested and tortured for expressing their opinions were they ?

Why is it that the same is not possible in IRan where only the official press can speak for the government but not the people ?

Press TV Cuts OFF Question about Baha'is ...

Merely Copying the US or British Press with trained journalists in propaganda and distorting their western colleagues stance on grounds of intellectual discourse won't hide the true nature of a regime nor it's intentions which behaves as anything but a democracy.

The entire Iranian press is under the tight control of the government and any other press including the reformists has been either shut down or had it's journalists threatened physically in order to maintain the population and pulbic opinion in the country under a firm grip.

YOU AND YOUR FRIENDS KNOW THAT PERFECTLY but try to feign that it is not true.

This was also the case prior to Ahmadinejad but to a lesser extent because of the Reformists attempt under Khatami and Co to bring fresh air and more freedom in society. For instance with news channels like on SAHAR TV :

HOLOCAUST A MYTH: Michelle Renouf on Iranian SAHAR TV

where State Journalist create by all accounts Un Ethical debates under the cloak of Open Mindedness or Free Speach only to revise history and turn it into a political tool for the Regime or the government's foreign and domestic policies.

How come No religious authority in Iran came up to criticize outrageous comments made by well know neo nazis knowing that they were insulting a community within the Iranian society that of Iranian Jews and the well documented martydom of their community in pages of world history ?

THOU SHALL NOT KILL is the FIRST Command in ALL THREE GREAT RELIGIONS: Judaism, Chistianity and Islam !

Yet None of those eminent members of our Religious islamic establishment  apart from a minor few ( but probably growing number ever since the protests last june) like Karoubi truly denounced the UN RELIGIOUS nature of the reported crimes commited in Iran in the name of Islam.

You cannot dismiss my arguments by drawing disproportional and absurd parrallels  where there are none as you have quite predictably done in your response below.

So for the sake of coherance either come up with an imaginative and accurate response to these questions or stick to what you know best: explaining Technical Manuals Arms but don't bother claiming any knowledge about democratic institutions or rights from which you seem to benefit widely in the West where you are living but hypocritically deny that right to our fellow compatriots back home ...

Unlike in Iran, Civil Society here cannot be treated as scum by the government without being held accountable by a truly independant judiciary and questioned by a public opinion expressed in a Free Press!

Best,

DK

Sargerd, you're too funny

sargerd, baazam oomadi zer zer kardi...!! lol  You're unFbelievable! Give it up, man. Stop pretending. Don't be such a loser...

--" You think it's a FN-FAL? I've never seen one with a foregrip of that shape".    First of all, you, the poseur, have NEVER seen one in your life. PERIOD. Second, I don't "think", I'm 200% sure what it is, and it's NOT a M-14(!!). It's like sooooo obvious. Even a boy scout would know it's not a M-14. Khaasti yeh zeri bezani digeh,,, but hey, we're all getting use to your wannabe attitude.

--"There are actually different origins and subtypes for what's popularly referred to as "Kelaash" ".     Hey, it's like you just learned something new. lol ;-)  Well, good for you. Keep reading my comments & you'll learn more...  And btw, in Iran it's called a kelaash-e chehel o haft-e S (taasho). Just so you know.

--This is the most stupid thing you have ever said,,, it just shows how dumb and FAKE you are: "shape doesn't conform to that of a Tokarev. It could actually be a Norinco"!!!!!!!!!!!     Are you actually saying that the clone version (Norinco) and the original (Tokarev) have different shapes!!!!!!  LOL  haha ;-)))  - You really are an idiot.

Anyway, sargerd jaan, thx for the early morning laugh. khoob bood.
Now, I gotta whole day a head of me and can't waist my time with retards like you, sorry,,, But just so you don't change the subject at hand:

Darius, sorry to keep you

by Sargord Pirouz on

Darius, sorry to keep you waiting:

Believe it or not, there are cases (however uncommon) of armed chaplains operating in Western armies, as late as the mid 20th century.

There are Christian orders that continue to wear swords.

There are Buddhist monks that continue to practice with traditional forms of weaponry.

There are uncommon cases of armed missionaries in Africa and South America. (Sorry, don't have sources at hand.)

Great video, by the way, of IRIAA airmen during the Imposed War.

FWIW: I don't think Khalkhali was much of a military asset during the war. :)

Sargord Pirouz

And you weren't... (pope)

by Sargord Pirouz on

You think it's a FN-FAL? I've never seen one with a foregrip of that shape. Are you saying those are vents on the top? If so, I've not seen that before, either. I'm not saying you're necessarily wrong, but I need more detail to make that determination. If you have further details to contribute, by all means, provide them.

On the automatic pistol, look at the shape of the slide. Again, it's hard to tell, but the detailing and shape doesn't conform to that of a Tokarev. It could actually be a Norinco. But it does look like one of the examples retrieved from the US embassy, for which a vintage photo was recently reproduced at FARS for 13 Aban. (Unfortunately, I've lost the link.)

There are actually different origins and subtypes for what's popularly referred to as "Kelaash". As I've stated, this appears to be a KLF.

Pope, you certainly have a whole lot of attitude for someone that hasn't provided a whole lot of detail for what you think you're looking at.

Sargord Khan since Your so knowledgable about Guns and Stuff ...

by Darius Kadivar on

Do You know many Christian Clerics with Hand Guns promoting Violence ?

I'm not speaking about Tele Evangalist or Sectarian Clerics but members of respectable clerical institutions like the Vatican or any other respected religious institution in a truly democratic society!

You know since it's become a common habit amongst IRI apologists to draw the regular parrallels between truly democratic societies and the Islamic Republic's pseudo democracy to justify every single un acceptable violence against it's peace loving citizens as your Joon Joony Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki has done recently in his interview with Fareed Zakaria at Davos ...

Even for the Sake of Hypocrisy I very much doubt that christian clerics would go on Roof Tops in London, Paris or Rome shouting Death to this or Death to that Fellow ... Even if they may be tempted inside such a behavior would be immediately criticized in a democratic state and discredit the clerical establishment amongst it's most ardent supporters particularly given the fact that Democracy cannot be achieved without the clear Separation of State and Religion which YOUR Democrat minded Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki seems to ignore in his absurd comparisons ...

So Why is it that our clerics are so Trigger Happy ? ...

The same could be said of some Orthodox Jewish clerics by the way in some occupied Palestinian territory if it comforts you. But that does not justify a man of God to Preach violence when his duty is according the the teachings of the prophet meant to be the contrary.

"Thou Shall Not Kill ..." so say's the holy texts or are we complete morons not to have understood God's Message to Mankind ? ...

Maybe you can clarify me on this subject as much as your knowledgeable feedbacks on military arsenals which quite frankly is not the reason this blog was posted in the first place ...

Best,

DK

If I'm not mistaken, the

by Sargord Pirouz on

If I'm not mistaken, the automatic pistol on the shelf looks very much like one of the pistols found and captured during the storming of the "nest of spies" in 1979. The rifle at left may also be recovered from that national event. (It's hard to tell but it appears to be a US made M-14.)

Can't identify the possible significance of the KLS (AK-47) slung on a wall hook.

It may surprise many IC readers to know that it is not unknown for certain US legislators (such as war veterans) to adorn their offices with mementos of foreign wars, including firearms. The practice is also not uncommon for certain mid to high ranking American civil servants.
