Ahmadinejad Arrives in Beirut

Set to tour villages on Lebanon's tense border with Israel

BBC: Crowds of cheering Lebanese have welcomed Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to Beirut, on a visit likely to prove divisive in the region. Mr Ahmadinejad's motorcade was showered with rice and flowers on its way from the airport to the presidential palace. But many people are alarmed at the visit, as Iran backs the Hezbollah group, an avowed enemy of Israel. In a move likely to outrage critics, Mr Ahmadinejad is set to tour villages on Lebanon's tense border with Israel. The region was devastated during a 2006 war between Hezbollah and Israel, and rebuilt partly with Iranian money. "Ahmadinejad has done a lot for Lebanon, we are here to thank him," 18-year-old engineering student Fatima Mazeh told the Associated Press. "He's not controlling Lebanon. Everyone has a mind and can think for himself. We are here to stand with him during the hardest times >>>

Tavana,

Kaafer hame ra be keeshe khod pendarad...Dont' try to project your upbrining into mine. You have no clue about mine! What you see in me is the picture of yourself.

I did write back to you because you directly questioned my credibility otherwise I wouldn't go out of my way to answer your personal question on a public domain under a public debate for a public topic of the day totally unrelated to what you started.

Won't hear me to discuss this topic with you again.

You are 100% right. Concetrate on the message & not the messanger my dear. If we all were not from a "Troubled Culture/Upbringing" we did not have to use any "aliases" at all. Did we? That is exactly what I was trying to convey. Is any fake title, a cappy avatar, or any alias in the world can change the "pesty" DNA/Character of anybody in the midst of Ahmadinejad visit to Heaven???

Iran's money for everything from roads and bridges to furniture for Lebanese citizens:

"What he's done for this country is amazing, the bridges, the roads, the financial aid. My house burnt down, they paid me an amount for my furniture, they made up for my loss," said Mohamad Baydoun, a Bint Jbeil resident.

Iran was quick to infuse Hezbollahs coffers with cash, then handed out to residents who had lost their homes and otherwise been effected by the war.

It is also Iran that paved roads and built bridges. The mayor of Bint Jbeil emphasized just how crucial Iranian aid to his country has been.

"If it weren't for that money people may have not returned to their homes until now," Afif Bazzi explained. "The aid that Iran provided is considered one of the largest in helping rebuild after the July war, this money helped people a lot and that is why we saw people immediately returning."

Hell, I would have cheered for the guy who paid for my living room furniture too!

A couple of other noteworthy observations:

First, did everyone notice that the spectators were waiving Iranian flags without the IR's crab looking symbol in the middle? :-))

Second, are those American made armored SUV's that Mahmoud was riding in?  Ahhhh...Mahmoudak needs American technology to keep him safe in Lebanon?  How ironic...

The most Anti Iran person

by fidelio5 on

I have ever encountered is Sargord Pirouz.

Repeadetdly claiming how everyone here is anti Iran over and over and over only exposes the weakness and emptiness of your position. Your posts are boring and predictable.

You are a boring and silly man. Very silly indeed.

If you had credibility you didn't have to ride the carousel of different aliases all the time. See who's talking about credibility!

Sargord Pirouz

What do you know about being

by Sargord Pirouz on

What do you know about being an American, Amir? How far does your American experience extend toward the past?

Personally, I'm critical of elements of American foreign policy, particularly in the Middle East. But I participate in the system- I vote. So that can't be construed as anti-American.

And I believe a change in foreign policy direction toward Iran is in the interests of the United States. So that can't be construed as anti-American.

You? All you do is bitch and moan about Iran. You don't vote in Iranian elections. You're totally anti-Iran.

And you're such a weakling, when it comes to your very shaky American identity, you can't even tell the difference. Being anti-Iran means everything to you, to the detriment of both ordinary Americans and ordinary Iranians.

But hey, I can't make a real American out of you, nor can I change you out of being anti-Iran. You're beyond anyone's help, son.

I'm glad that you clarified on that.

There are people here who would otherwise assume that you are writing from Lebanon, or even God forbid, one of those Lebanese guys who are in the pay of the IR to do whatever i.e beating and knifing Iranian demonstrators, taking part in demonstrations inside and outside Iran and defending the IR for all their dirty work.

I'm glad that you clarified!

Troubled Minds

by Tavana on

Only & only "Troubled Minds" with "Troubled Background" & from a "Troubled Regime" enjoy these kinds of "Showy" welcoming & parade. Should not we remind ourselves of the same kinds of salute IRI presented the US puppets regimes of Iraq & Afghanistan in its own neighborhoods??? What did such tell us???

PS: It is all about "creditability." When you do not have it you can not buy that for any price whether you call yourself Sargold, Mid-nowhere, an angle, or a "GOD helper." Period.

The necons don't speak on behalf of Americans. So please don't try to equate the failed policy of Israeli lobby to what of the goodwill of ordinary Americans. Here is not Israel that you can put your gun into our heads to accept your failed policies.

West-residing Groupies of an Anti-American terrorist regime

by AMIR1973 on

You have to admit, it's a nice arrangement to have Groupies of an anti-American, anti-Iranian terrorist regime live in America, enjoy democratic rights that Iranians living in the IRI are denied, and then use those democratic rights in America to propagandize of behalf of that same anti-American terrorist regime. How nice.

Maybe Kesafat-Nejad is looking for land to buy, and move to, once the IR is tossed into the trash bin of history.

by Sargord Pirouz on

Mahmoud travels by open-topped vehicle. He did so here in Lebanon and even in Iraq. This level of bravery and self-assuredness is quite rare these days for world leaders.

By comparison, American leaders in US cities won't do this kind of thing anymore.

I think

by Midwesty on

I read it some where that the UN just recently condemned Israelie soldiers for hiding behind human shields. Nevertheless this is about Mahmood announcing his visit months ahead of time for traveling the most troubled regions in the world even to the places where the leader of the liberators travel unannounced under the cover of the night flights.

Roozbeh_Gilani

What BBC failed to mention...

by Roozbeh_Gilani on

Is that Mahmood bi-mokh after being rejected once more by US in his latest attempt of "making friends with Obama at any price to save the islamist regime's ass" during his latest trip to NY, is now in beirut trying to somehow threat US. I guess despatrate times call for desparate actions!

US knows better that this cowardly gang of terrorists Hezbullah with their fat leader hiding in his north Tehran palace, who proved his cowardly credentials in 2006 war with Israel by hiding behind women and children is just a little paper pussy!

Otherwise BBC is right. Good report and thanks for posting.

look at the report...

"as Iran backs the Hezbollah group, an avowed enemy of Israel".

not a group that defends the sovereignty of their own country but "Hezbollah group, an avowed enemy of Israel".

For how long you are going to rewrite the history, BBC?
