Iraq wants to shut down Camp Ashraf

Mojahedin must leave by end of 2011

CNN: Iraq's Cabinet underscored its intention to shut down a controversial refugee camp sheltering Iranian dissidents, and it wants to do so by the end of the year, the government's spokesman said. The place is Camp Ashraf, where 34 people were killed and more than 300 others were wounded on Friday in a confrontation between Iraqi security forces and people in the camp, the base of the dissident People's Mujahedeen Organization >>>

areyobarzan Jan again you confuse "Leadership" and "Sovereignty"

by Darius Kadivar on

First to say that I am familiar with your stance and that is why I put a foot note in the begining of my comment to distinguish you or your personal views from any generalization my response may appear to make in regard to you as a person.

However  what I am criticizing through my observation is not your stance in particular ( much of which I share) but the confusion you make between Leadership ( a Political Role ) and Sovereignty ( an Institutional Legitimacy)

Do you see the ethymological difference Or Do I need to go over all this with you too ?

ahosseini & Simorgh5555: What is it your don't Understand ? ;0)

PS: I wrote a much longer response to you but I think I will post it as a blog some other time so as not to lose focus on the debate in question.

Dear Darush

by areyo barzan on

If his Majesty has indeed raised his concerns with the international community and have already offered a helping hand I would then like to think that I am man enough to admit to my mistake and apologize.

As far af the 1979 cock up of a revolution is concerned in case you have not read my previous comments I have been against it from the very first day when everybody else had lost their brain and were looking for Khomeini’s picture in the moon and still am totally against the IRI with every bone and cell in my body

I have always had the highest respect for Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and always appreciated the miracle that he and his father has done for this country in terms of economy, education, industry, health ,modernization…… and so on during the short 50 years period they were in power. However that does not mean that I am ignoring their mistakes either or regarding them as saints

Furthermore I am not demanding anybody to be my leader but I expect from all those who step forward to take the role to show some leadership potential.

If we really respect and care about any of these potential leaders we always need to stay vigilant and be willing to criticize them when due by pointing to their errors and weaknesses.

With all the respect I have for the Pahlavi family, the last thing that I want is another dictator with an army of jealous fanatic supporters who would not let anybody to question criticise or challenge.

As far as I remember a similar mistake provided the ground for the downfall of the his father and anyway if I wanted another dictator whom I can not criticise and question we already have one in place inside Iran whose name is Ali Khameme-ee

As far as the demand for apology is concerned I believe a person who would regard himself as the leader of a nation would and should not need an apology in order to settle old scores before attending to his duties of protecting the people he wants to lead. He will do this because first and foremost it is the right thing to do and secondly to show his critics that he is concerned about all Iranians regardless of their past or political orientation.

Finally for the type of future government in Iran as HM Reza Pahlavi have stated himself it will be decided by the people on the ballet box and in such day you and I can cast our individual votes in private

 A Constitutionalist's Rebuttal

****************************
****************************

His Majesty was the First to React to this Incident. I have not heard any similar reactions be it from Shirin Ebadi or exiled Green Leaders to date.

And Get this in Your Heads Folks ... If You consider RP2 as a Potential Spokesperson he cannot do it as Your Leader but Your Sovereign ...

When will you get this straight in Your heads that a Sovereign is Not a Political Leader but stands above Political rivalries particularly if he is to hold a Constitutional Role in a Future Democratic Iran.

Now if you wish to see him play a Leadership role to guide you to a so called Secular Democratic Republic then I would say the ball is in your very own camp given that puts you in contradiction with the very ideological reasons that pushed our countrymen and countrywomen to topple the previous monarchy.

By demanding RP 2 to be your Leader is like asking the French REvolutionaries to call upon the Son or decendant of Louis XVI to save them.

Not that I mind that personally but if I were a Jomhurykhah I would find that humiliating at best to have to come and Beg someone whom I fought to come and defend my interests. At best I would tell myself that the least I could do is First apologize for my poor choice 3 decades ago :

Apologize Fish called Wanda

All the more that His Majesty has been accountable in return for the wrong doings of his predecessor :

ROYAL ACCOUNTABILITY: Crown Prince Reza Praises Mossadegh's Patriotism (ANDISHEH TV)

ROYAL ACCOUNTABILITY: Crown Prince Reza on Torture During His Father's Rule

Only then would I expect to speak on equal terms with a former enemy or son of an enemy.

Otherwise the behavior of You Jomhurykhah's amounts to what ? "Gedayee" at best !

I wonder what is more legitimate asking a Former Crown Prince to run for President for a bunch of losers who 32 years late realize what a blunder their Revolution was in the first place or Restoring the Monarchy all together with the Same Crown Prince as King:

RESTORATION: Shapour Bakhtiar advocates Restoring the Monarchy

It's not RP 2 which is in contradiction But You folks who cannot come to terms with your own Set of Priorities and blame him for your own shortcomings and lack of a common vision.

The MKO is an OFFSPRING of Your Very Own Republic :

REPUBLICAN OFFSPRING: Massoud Rajavi at Tehran University during Presidential Campaign (1980)

Now you can come and houl and cry all you want that the Revolution was Highjacked but you cannot escape your own responsabilities and demand Our Sovereign to make Blunt Excuses for your Own Failure.

We Cannot be held responsible for Your Own Poor Choice :

Khomeiny’s Hichi

All the More thaT we did Not Highjack your Vote:

Footage of the 1979 referendum of the Islamic Republic of Iran

We are all ready to offer Compassion for these poor devils and their families but if you are expecting some kind of political endorsment then look elsewhere.

To date None of You Jomhurykhah's ( secular, Reformist, orthodox etc) have taken steps in our direction but expect everything in return.

Well Sorry Folks the Ball is in your court. Up to you to come to terms with your own contradictions and mixed signals.

Loyalty is not something that can be bought so easily.

And besides as a Constitutionalist the "Crown" and hence our Crown Prince's Royal Status is NOT Bargainable in the name of some political calculations.

Either you accept the fellow as your future sovereign or you go and look elsewhere for a better potential "leader" willing to lead you to victory. I personally believe there are many out their who could take on such a role and if they displayed less megalomania and more pragmatism they would accept to join their Sovereign as Prime Minister instead of ridiculing themselves as the next PREEEEEEEEZIIIIIIIDEEEEEEEEENT Mahboob of your Clueless Choice:

Amir Jahanchahi: Iranian Idiot of the Day

If 32 years On you still have not understood that the Key is Not to Support a Person But an IDEA ( Republic VS Constitutional Monarchy) of what is best for Iran's Future  then I have to say that you folks have learned nothing from the past.

You have the Future of Iran in your very hands. The Blue Print is Clear and Unambiguous. Yet You continue to pretend you don't understand  :

REZA’s CALL: An Iranian Solidarnosc by DK

RESPONDING TO REZA's CALL: An Iranian Solidarnosc in the Making ... by DK

In doing so you are merely delaying the process :

"Iranicans" Get Your Acts Together!!! by DK

Now if you wish to play Smart ass and be Perfectionist let me tell you bluntly that the longer you wait the sooner you and all of us altogether (regardless of our political preferences )will be reduced to nothing else but a laughing stock in the eyes of our own people but also in that of any international support and recognition we could seek legitimatley. All the more that the vaccum for this lack of coherence will be filled by no other than the Islamic Republic you folks wish to see replaced barely a year after realizing Keh Dobareh Gooletoon Zadan:

How YOUR "Green" Color Was Chosen & By WHOME !

Not our fault if you realized 32 Years Late that this regime was Illegitimate  in the first place:

pictory: Bakhtiar Denounces Bazargan's Provisionary Government in exile (1979)

So before demanding accountability from your Legitimate Sovereign ask yourselves if you have been truly accountable for your very own shortcomings.

Or to paraphrase Kennedy :

CAMELOT: Ask Not What the CROWN Can do for YOU but What YOU can do for The CROWN

The Shah of Iran and President Kennedy

For Ultimately that is the Genuine Definition of Iranian Patriotism as defined in the Shahnameh and embodied by it's emblematic Hero ROSTAM:

ROYALTY ON SCREEN: Boris Kimyagarov's "Timeless Legend of Rostam & Sohrab"

If the British, Belgians, Danes, Dutch, Swedes and all other European Monarchies with a far less rich and ancient royal tradition have understood this basic prerequisite to their national unity (which ultimately led them to collectively shape their monarchy into a democratic system of government) then I don't see why you folks who claim our history is 7000 years old can't understand this basic concept.

Either we are indeed a hopless lot and deserve to see our nation dissolve itself due to our own Recurrent Treacherous behavior:

Isn't Calling for the Head of State's Death usually called "Treason"?

SEPARATIST TEMPTATIONS: Don't Let It Fool You ... Treason Exists ...

Or we come together and try to work hand in hand to bring about a common understanding on what we can do concretely to Set our country Free and build a better future for our countrymen and countrywomen.

The MKO is only entitled to our sympathy and any concrete humanitarian help we can bring to them as defenseless fellow countrymen and human beings in danger and alerting international awareness on their predicament.

That is what Our Sovereign has called for and he cannot do more given the circumstances.

But expressing concern for the MKO members in their predicament ( eventually helping them through legal means in finding assylum) and endorsing their political stance are two different things and besides we never claimed to be their ideological leaders which could hence entitle us to speak in their name all the more that they don't recognize our sovereign as their own ...

Regradless of politics

by David ET on

It is best to close this camp and send these brainwshed people to different countries where they can seek asylum and gradually integrate in to normal societies where there is more hope for them instead of staying within a fully controlled cult.

As long as Camp Ashraf exists, there is no hope for these people and they will remain toys of: Mojahedeen Leadership, Islamic Regime, US & Iraqi governments.

Let us not forget that  some of these people may have shed bloods of fellow Iranians in Iraq-Iran war, Shaias in S. Iraq and Kurds in Iraq.

Their stay serves no purpose, not even for them. For now it's time to close this sad chapter of history.

areyo barzan

Really! How democratic we are

by areyo barzan on

Before anything we should all remember that those people trapped in Iraq are  our fellow countrymen (Hamvatan).

Regardless of all our political orientations and what ever mistakes any of us have made over the past 30 years we should all be concerned about their welfare and give them our support. We should talk to media petition our MP or congressman and demand from UNHCR to help and save them

After all with all our claims of wanting democracy and being democratic, this is now the ultimate test.

Personally I have always believed that Talk is cheap. Any one can writean article or claim to want democracy for Iran. But the real test comes when you are obliged to help those with whom you are not necessarily in agreement.

Hence we need to ask ourselves this question: Are we just paying lip service to democracy when it suits our purpose or to make us look good? Or do we really care about all Iranians from what ever background or political orientation they may be even when we are in dire disagreement.

Furthermore I should say that I am really disappointed with His Majesty Prince Reza Pahlavi’s reaction or rather lack of it, with regards to this whole saga.

After all with all his claims of democracy for Iran I would have expected the man whom I consider to be my  most elligible potential leader, to have shown some concern and sympathy for our fellow countrymen who are trapped between murderes of Alghods brigade from Sepah e Pasdaran on one side and the savage Arabs on the other

As for the solution I believe these poeple should all be brought to USA. If the American government or any other European nation has a shred of evidence against any of them for being a terrorist then they should be prosecuted and punished according to international law. Otherwise they should be given refugee status and  be allowed to live in the US or Europe.

This is the least the US and European government can do to put right some of what they did to us for the past thirty years

Of course the "Mullah's goons" are behind this, the terrorist IRGC has been involved in every step of this operation from the planning to the psychological torture to physically attacking this group of unarmed Iranians (regardless of their political views this is a gross violation of their human rights!).
