This guy would have been a better choice

by Roger_Rabbit on

I would rather see VOA Persian run by a genuine American like Alan Eyre whose Farsi, despite being born to non Farsi speaking parents, is far better than Asgard (and is also an educated diplomat) than by a half-baked Iranian-American whose Farsi is so emabrassing to listen. Eyre could win over a lot more than Asgard can ever do.

He can express himself just fine

by Cost-of-Progress on

He's great for the job, a diplomat with no broadcasting background. He'll do fine with a new and fresh perspective.

He's well-educated and able and willign to do the job. I suggest those who take issue with his background, remind themselves of the status of Iran in the past 32 years where a bunch of incompetent ass backward goons have been at the helm of a rich nation (OK, we're not rich in 'all" ways, but we can get there in time) and are systematically running it into ground.

Un-friggin'-deniable.

What help if any is his Iranian background?

by Roger_Rabbit on

for somone who cannot express himself in his mother tongue language, hence not understood, let alone accepted by his ethnic community, what else makes him suited for this post?

Another demonstration of typical American poor judgment.

Asgard is a good choice

by Ari Siletz on

Understands that insulating VOA Persian staff from IC type quarrels is a high priority. Also, he has had close exposure to the minute details of the Iran situation.  As for the "Ferdowsi's nightmare" Farsi, more and more Iranians raised abroad will be gaining positions of high responsibility and media visibility, so time to get used to it.

aynak

Why can't this guy talk Persian properly?

by aynak on

That is embarrassing.   My friends kids all born and raised here can speak much better Persian that this dude, and none of them is a diplomat either.  When you want to run the Persian network and use your Iranian background as a plus, shouldn't fluency in this language be a prerequsite?

Hopefully his muscling power in deplomatic realm is much better than his Persian skill.

May we all have good dreams.

Mr Obama barak
Eid shoma mobark
Thank you for all those kind words
Promises and rewards
Cont...

Thanks for the great speech
Your lecture and what you teach
Firstly tell us what you do
Apart from saying boo
Secondly what are all these
These actions of Iraqis
Treating in this style
Iranians in exile
Is this the kind of state
We should aspire and wait
Why your allies in Holland
Europe, the promise land
Put our refugees
In the hands of mad bullies
Are you with them or with us
I wonder if Oobamas
If you are with us indeed

Please turn your word to deed

Voice of America…

by Bavafa on

Is it a news program or propaganda tool?

The question remains… Why not broadcast voice of America in America?

What sets Voice of America apart from PressTV in its strategy and goal?
