AP -- Police say an Iranian immigrant who doused himself in gasoline and then set himself on fire in central Amsterdam has died of his injuries. A police statement says the 36-year-old's bid to secure a residency in the Netherlands was rejected before the incidents. Photos of the dramatic event began to circulate via social media and websites minutes after it occurred Wednesday. One showed the victim on his back, engulfed in flames, while people tried to put out the fire with their coats. The statement said Thursday that the victim was given first aid and taken to a burn center, but never regained consciousness. The Dutch have increased restrictions on immigration over the past decade amid growing anti-Muslim sentiment.

by Roozbeh_Gilani on Fri Apr 08, 2011 08:08 AM PDTI let you in two secrets about this beloved system of yours:
1) Capitalism is inherently self destructive (It creates it's own mortal enemy, the working classes)
2) Imperialism is the highest state of capitalism, where Working classes of the Imperialist Nation are kept quiet at the expense of the completely screwed "colonised" nations.
The Reason portugal is in such sorry state is because it reached the stage of being a major Imperialist state more than 200years ago, and has been going down hill ever since, well before assylum seekers from third world arrived at their borders.

by ahosseini on Sun Apr 10, 2011 12:53 AM PDTYou never make direct response to any logic or reason on any point raise and instead make general remarks unrelated to arguments given. The points you have made about Libya or Portugal has nothing to do with anything RG or I have said in my comments. Let me make it clear to you that I do not associate myself to any ideology. All I am saying is that you as individual should be given the right to have some kind control over your elected representative rather than your so called rep or party leader controlling everything. A democratic instituition should control the process rather the very rich in the society.
At the moment the very rich control and administer the so called democracy. What have you got against you being part of the process in a democratic society. I am a socialist, but I don't impose it on other people. I try to convince with my logic. It is up to people to accept or reject my idea. Cuba, Lybia, ... do not have such a system, herefore don't put a label on my politics.
ahosseini&RG Oh Yeah ? How is Poetry going to bail out Portugal?
by Darius Kadivar on Fri Apr 08, 2011 01:23 AM PDTIt's not by making a continent / country (which cannot accept more immigrants at the expense of it's own survival nor deliver these poor devils a decent job and future) Poorer :

Tourists avoid Tunisia as Libya violence flares (bbc)
Thank All those pacifists and Liberal Anti Americans who discouraged America from interfering in Libya when it was still possible to get rid of that Bloody Bastard while he was on his knees and with far less human casualties and blunders than the way they are handling it now.
It is precisely WISHFUL THINKING and FLOWER POWER BOLONY Mindsets which are undermining ALL European Democracies faced with huge challenges of having to face massive immigration ( hence feeding arguments to rising Fascist Parties in Europe who can use this as a pretext to win Elections and exploit this victory towards other far more "evil" means) that is leading to such tragic incidents as off the coast of Lambedusa in Italy :
150 feared dead after refugee boat fleeing Libya capsizes off Italian island of Lampedusa
If you think that the "Fall of the American Empire" and so called "Capitalist" Countries is something to rejoice in ... Dream On ... Cause it is not the New Asian Giants like China and Russia neither of Which are Democracies or built on Democratic Values or concerned by Humanitarian tragedies like this one which will worry about this decline ...
America and Europe may not be perfect but they are Not "Evil" as all of you clueless wishful thinking liberals wish to portray without EVER Offering Practical Solutions to solve the problems they face or the Challenges which are facing us globally.
But Keep On with Poetry ... I am Sure You have Talent ...
ahosseini, you are very right.

To hell with them indeed
by ahosseini on Thu Apr 07, 2011 09:31 PM PDTAfter the 1917 Russian revolution, social democracy really meant something. The establishments in Europe and US had to either accept a revolution like that of Russia or respond to serious social movements. The Russian revolution failed and in the process it has managed to kill the movement for social democracy in Europe and US. The Labour Party in the UK does not mean labour party any more and Democrats in US and Social Democratic parties in Europe are no longer social democratic parties. Instead, they have turned into capitalist monsters run by super rich in the world with no real challeneges facing them. That is why you see absolutely no changes in UK or US or Europe when governments change from one to the other. It is a very sad situation. People run away from Egypt to Libya for work, get stuck in the mess in Libya, have no home to go, end up on a ship wondering around in Mediterranean ocean. If they are lucky and don't get drowned they end up in a European country or US which supported those tyrannical regime for years. What do you think their solution would be? Build housing for them? Of course not, they keep them in those cells in hundreds. Our country man had to chose between going back to those camps or back to Iran facing torture, and execution. Well, what would you do? Perhaps you would do the same. It is no good asking JJ "What would you do if they turn up in your door step". JJ did not create the situation. In fact hundresd of them turned up on our door steps. We did set up organisations to help them. However, the harsh realities are different from what media inject into our heads. Here is a little poem from me:
Tabloids of all kinds
control our minds
and all other tools
make us follow rules.
Join the movement for real democracy. That is my answer. A democracy run and controlled by people and not the one run and administered by super rich in the world.
Please see my letter to Obama and a poem I have recently written about Obama's speech on Egypt.
Whatever you do, please don't get yourself into trouble like I did.
I would love to hear your feedback.

National tragedy
by afshinazad on Thu Apr 07, 2011 11:34 AM PDTOnce we had a passport and country and nation was respected and now and from last 33 year, there have been hundreds cases like this unnoticed, either they burn themselves or they kill themselves in their rooms or they get drowned in sea or killed in borders or other places. This is national tragedy for our nation and we have never had a so much migration in our nation’s history.Who would have imagined that our young people would have been lost in foreign lands and begging for asylum and shelter and protection from small countries like Holland and others like it? 33 year migration for better life or safety or refuge for peace of mind and running away from the evil people who occupied the land and holding the nation in chain. What would 75 million people of Iran do and where they should search for rescue or the asylum?
It is so sad to see a compatriot dying this way...
by Roozbeh_Gilani on Thu Apr 07, 2011 09:43 AM PDTIn my opinion at least, if a person reaches this level of desparation, when he'd rather die than live under an islamist fascist rule, why not go back to Iran , organise armed resistance to the regime and try to break this crazy routine of "peaceful demonstrations"? In the worst case scenario, you'd be taking a few of the islamist scum bags with you...
On the other side of the coin, we get these real islamist terrorist scum bags coming to Europe, getting visas and pasports and social security benefits courtesy of the hard working Kafir tax payer to augment their base pay from the islamist regime!
