Nothing new about Jahanbegloo's refutal's of Social Contract

by Darius Kadivar on

He is merely trying to Safeguard HIS Republic by discrediting the Pre Revolution Constitution one on grounds that it has no legitimacy.

Had this fellow who lives in a Constitutional Monarchy (Canada) been intellectually honest and accountable he would know that the Social Contract that the British Established was the Bill of Rights under which he is himself living under and benefiting from in that North American British Colony ...

RESTORATION: Britain's 'Glorious Revolution' of 1688 and the 'Bill of Rights'

That YOU don't believe in the Monarchy and refuse any Intellectual Accountability for your own Bankrupt arguments is your problem but then Don't try to define something you clearly don't understand  ...

ROYAL FORUM: Explaining the Concept of a Constitutional Monarchy to a Staunch Republican

Unlike YOU Jomhurykhahs We Constitutionalists have been accountable ...

ROYAL ACCOUNTABILITY: Crown Prince Reza Praises Mossadegh's Patriotism (ANDISHEH TV)

ROYAL ACCOUNTABILITY: Crown Prince Reza on Torture During His Father's Rule

Where have YOU been accountable for the past 32 years ?

COMPLAINING JOMHURYKHAH: What Have the Pahlavis EVER Done For Us ? ;0)

You Start by defining that Being "Open Minded" is to accept "Republicanism" as a Pre Requisite to being a "Democrat".

Nothing is Further from the Truth:

Economist Intelligence Unit's Democracy Index 2010 (PHOTOS ).

A Look at what is taking place in the Middle East where the most flexible regimes which have not cracked down on their people and tried to introduce a democratic transition smoothly have to date precisely been Monarchies like Morocco and Jordan:

Morocco vote to curb king's powers, abolishing death penalty

Jordan’s King Abdullah Welcomes Reform Plans Amidst Regional Unrest

where as the Republics born from ousting their previous monarchies ranging from Egypt, Libya, or Syria have displayed the most ruthless behavior towards their civil society.

Jordan's King Abdullah Calls On Syria's President Assad to Step Down

MACBETH: Life & Death of Libya's Usurper “King of Kings” in 3 Bloody Acts …

So who says that we will achieve democracy by merely dismissing our history and refusing any sort of accountability for the establishement of your Illegitimate Republic ?:

pictory: Bakhtiar Denounces Bazargan's Provisionary Government in exile (1979)

The Libyans with a far younger Royal history haven't turned their back on their history and are achieving to build  a new society based on their own ideals ...

Maybe not Your or My Cup of Tea but at least GENUINE to their Own needs.

ROYAL HOPEFUL: Libyan Crown Prince offers to help homeland

But Iran with a far longer Royal Heritage shouldn't ?

And Besides who is saying Iran should be freed like Libya ?

It's You Folks who are BS on us Constitutional Monarchists claiming things we never said.

Answer to spatima

by Shemirani on

from what you said:

"They distorted Jahanbegloo's words in the last video which was posted here (the one concerning the top six greatest thinkers). Jahanbegloo clearly stated that he does not see Khatami as a candidate fit for the list, but the monarchists distorted his words (a 180) and claimed that jahanbegloo was pro- khatami being on that list"

I also mentionned R.Jahanbegloo on the other blog but not because of Katami selection or not !!

But because the way he described Ebn Sina...he gave  the feeling to definit Ebn  Sina by being a moslman !! and to me its a distortion of history. an intellectual ke  hadiss mikhoon baraye maan chize ajist but its my opinion !!

I don't know why ????? YOU ( and Mashshoosh ) jumped on conclusion that R.Jahanbegloo was insulted ??? and you linked to katami by yourself !!!

To Ramin Jahanbegloo( Fluent in french) au sujet des 6 personnages Historique:

By the way being secular its not matter of saying it, we have to see it in your acts and thoughts :)

(sorry other readers, its was a aparté here,i will listen to this video later and maybe comment about it too )

Simorgh and si morgh

by Arj on

Excellent points, simple, yet to the point! In a nutshell, it's reminiscent of Attar's famous 'Simorgh va si morgh' epic. Sadly, most of our oppostion are caught up in sloganeering and hatred towards IRI so much, that they fail to se the bigger picture or at least care for how Iranian society is supposed to function post IRI!

Ari, the weird thing for me is that this is now.

Spatima, please don't call for the spamming youtubelectual. I have to keep scrolling down  over the incessant illiterate, irrelevant, idiotic garbage, that spams entire pages on this site.

When is JJ going to fix all those things here, so one can opt what to read?

spatima Dorogoo Khodetee ...

I never mentioned Khatami ...

Before attacking me Phony at least do it with talent ...

The minimum is to refer to the thread for people to read my views directly rather than interpreting "your" comments" on "my" comments ...

Most Eminent Iranians

My critics directed towards Jahenbegloo were not based on his comments on Khatami but his comments on Reza Shah which he considered as dismissing as opposed to Foroughi :

Calling his contributions az "manfy" ... aka Negative

If BBC Persian thinks that they can fool people by merely playing around smart camera movements just to make the same "usual suspects" come across as sexy and bright then they may well go back to cinema school.

Monty Python - "French Subtitled Film" sketch

Nothing easier than Putting together the same panelists they interview regularly and claiming they are "Barjasteh" merely because they all share the same negative and belitting views on the Monarchy and then asking them to select an eminent persian who ends up being Mossadegh or another rusted Icon of the equally rusted masses ...

étonnant Non ? ...

Desproges Sur Apostrophes Répond à Pivot sur la Démocratie

If you don't understand French humor No worries Ramin Does  ...

Besides it's Not my fault if you folks have no taste for the Monarchy and particular you spatima despite contradicting yourself like nearly all young generation Schizo's by using an Avatar of Iran's Founding Monarch yet advocating republicanism ...

But then Don't try to define mine ...

Insightful, and more importantly, useful!

by Ari Siletz on

Particulary from 45:00 where Jahanbeglo brings up the advancements that Iranian people have made in terms of social engagment, civil dialog, and small citizen institution building which has blossomed independently of government and policy. It is true that increasing teamwork in organizing cultural gatherings, artisitc events, common interest clubs etc. have worked to build trust amongst ourselves, the debilitating lack of which Jahanbegloo probes at length in the first 45 minutes of the video.

where are the ignorant crowd of monarchist now?

Where is Dk (doroghgooye kabir)???
They distorted Jahanbegloo's words in the last video which was posted here (the one concerning the top six greatest thinkers). Jahanbegloo clearly stated that he does not see Khatami as a candidate fit for the list, but the monarchists distorted his words (a 180) and claimed that jahanbegloo was pro- khatami being on that list. its hilarious how the monarchist lie when anyone can go ahead and check the video.

HERE is the link: //www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedd...

 R. Jahanbegloo is a decent thinker, and probably one of the very few intellectuals that we have today. he is against the very same mentality that has led to the creation of the islamic republic. however it seems for the most part that his opponents (i.e. monarchists, islamists, reformists) use the very same tactics that jahanbegloo is trying to criticize, as a method to discredit his work.

In hope of a Free, Democratic, Independent and Secular Iran

Shifteh Ansari is quite quite correct

 23 mins in.

although i wouldn't say that all Iranians should watch this, but I would say that most should and most importantly grasp it.

There are quite a few view points I disagree with, but boy oh boy, so good to hear someone say what I've been saying for goddamned years. Funny.

Excellent analysis

Absolutely worth the hour spent listening to Jahanbegloo's take on why Iranians act as they do. I recommend this to all.
