Masoud jan, I agree that Shazdeh, divane and Faramarz

are funny and know about politics. let' see if parazit will listen to our suggestions.faramarz wants to do relationship talk but i think he can do well as sports analyst and also he is good at debating those sneaky pro iri people. he comes up with good arguments against them. this ic tv is that a go? people who have far less interesting ideas and much less talent than ic contributors have tv programs. ic could do better.

Masoud Kazemzadeh

Dear Mash Ghasem, Shazde, Faramarz, and Anahid

by Masoud Kazemzadeh on

Mash Ghasem jaan,

Ramin Kamran introduced me to Ms. Mahshid Amirshahi back in 2006 at a conference. So, I only talked to her for a few minutes. It was formal. I have also watched several great interviews with her. She is brilliant and penetrating mind and is very very courageous. She would be great for the usual Parazit program. I have noticed that in both her writings and interviews, she has used a dry sarcastic comments. That style might actually work if it is next to Iraj Pezeshkzad. I can see her make a comment, sort of a set up, and then Pezeshkzad goes for a hilarious response.

Both Amirshahi and Pezeshkzad supported Dr. Bakhtiar, so a show on the role of the intellectuals on the revolution, or Khomeini before and after the revolution, or Mousavi, or Khatami, or Ahmadinejad might actually work with them (i.e., produce a hilarious and thoughtful program).

Best,

MK

Dear Shazde and Faramarz,

I am 100% serious. I think a Parazit program on this format with you two and divaneh would be really really hilarious. You guys have absolutely fantastic sense of humor and it is the kind which bounces off each other. All three of you are superbly funny and politically sophisticated. And the chemistry among you three works well.

The folks at Parazit should try one program with you guys and see what happens.

Best,

Masoud

Dear Anahid,

Shappareh Khorsandi is very funny. I have not seen her perform in Persian. If she could do it in Persian, she should be good. Maybe Parazit should have her in the format they used this week with our own Shazde, Faramarz, and divaneh. Even if her Persian might not be very good, our three musketeers might make jokes about her Persian in the middle of the program and turn it into another joke.

Best,

Masoud

Faramarz

Dear Mash Ghasem

by Faramarz on

Thank you for your words of encouragement and support.

Words of gratitude to Masoud Khan as well. I am honored and humbled!

Actually, I am a clean-cut person with short hair and no facial hair. That seems to work for me.

I would love to do a show on Iranian men/women relationship on IC TV. I believe that I have a unique perspective on that issue. However, my views will undoubtedly bring me a few friends and many, many enemies. But I am up for the challenge and looking forward to it.

Gentlemen fire up your engines and let the games begin!

Anahid Hojjati

parazit should have invited a woman to this panel

by Anahid Hojjati on

other people also mentioned that JJ is the only one who has studied journalism from this group. So if a group is chosen randomly, why is there not a woman? one of the worst characteristics of IRI is its treatment of women. As such, in any discussion of Iran, if you got several people, one would think that if there are qualified women, at least one should be invited. IRI is not going to start good practices, it is up to opposition.

deepMagenta

Some people are their own worst enemy

by deepMagenta on

I don't mean to be hard on the participants, yet I do believe the whole thing was too "aabaki".

It was a non-inspiring chit-chat among people who felt too much affinity for each other for their own good.

Although, it was supposed to be a fun interview, it wasn't funny and not much substance was conveyed either.

I believe it is a good idea if a potential participant would ask him/herself prior to the acceptance of an invitation, if he would elevate the level of the conversation in some ways. If not, he should not participate.

Mr. Javid seems to have a cohesive and measured mind, telling from his com nets in the past, yet might not be as convincing in a long conversation like this one, or perhaps he had to play it sage for personal reasons.

Mr. Nabavai used to write interesting satires in the past, yet I don't see the same creativity from him anymore. In fact his non-satirical political analysis are more interesting nowadays; moreover, his performance in front of camera is painful. Obviously he is an intelligent man, hence he should know his limitations that he is a writer, not a performer.

What is this urge to accept any invitation that comes our way, no matter whether we will be out of our element or not.

Reputation "Aabero", does not come easy, one should protect it.

I did not mean to demean anybody, just a sincere advice to all.

GR, I agree!

by Oon Yaroo on

Except a handful of people (e.g., Dr. Abbas Milani, Karim Sajadpour, et al) who are experts in their fields and whose bread and butter is research & analysis of the Iranian political affairs, the rest of the guests on VOA in general and Parazit in particular are novices & rammals who would be much more effective running the neighborhood 711 or car wash stores than jibberishing on Iranian matters!

G. Rahmanian

Of Journalists & Cartoonists!

by G. Rahmanian on

It has always been like this and will remain this way as long as getting invited to such shows is based on the "fame" of the participants rather what they bring to the show. I have criticized VOA for constantly inviting an illiterate like Ganji and a demagogue such as Dabashi who hardly bring anything worthwhile to the shows they participate in. Soroush is another worthless participant in such shows!

Wisely said. But that's expected of an opposition, any opposition.....until it forms the government..................However, there is a rule of thumb here...........A comfy opposition remains as an opposition forever..........

As I said, wisely said........

Roger_Rabbit

Can you really fault AN's words per se?

by Roger_Rabbit on

Using our very Iranian habit of coming up with made up statistics I would say 90% of what he said in his UN speech is not any different from what most of you guys constantly write on this website. The only difference is that some of his words and his deeds do not concur but as in our case (I include myself) we are just words and hardly any deeds!

Souri

I loved JJ

by Souri on

He is the best!

Neyestani = I find him very conservative, he didn't want to go too far in criticizing the regime (said mildly a few sentences about AN)

Nikahn = Good and to the point .....

Nabavi = is a lost case. Never liked his humor. He is another islamist whose humor is only to belittle others and mock them w/o any real base. He didn't say anything interesting this time

JJ = He is the one who took the show more seriously and wanted to talk as in a real debate....alas, otheres didn't get it....or didn't follow

Overall, the script was not that interesting.

Thanks to JJ who brought/was a bright spot  in this week's parazite.

He save  the program, big!

Fariba Amini

Journalists and cartoonists!

by Fariba Amini on

I usually do not make comments but here I must and I shall.

Of the so-called journalists on this panel, none have actually studied the art and profession of journalism except for JJ.   If he is articulate it is because he knows his job. He is also democratically minded.   The others I am afraid, became journalists or reporters overnight.  When Mr. Nabavi while writing in praise of the late Dariyoush Homayoun writes that Hossein Fatemi mesleh Bacheha brought down the Shah's statue during the days of the coup, I not only question his wisdom, but his knowledge of history.   In fact, I don't even find him all that funny. The other, Mr. Cartoon is another story.  I wonder how a few days of jail makes you prominent all of a sudden and you go all over the place to become rich and famous!

As for Parazit,  they need to change their format a bit.  It is too hyped up and sometimes not even that funny.   But there is room for change.

Frankly,  I have washed my hands off of these new breed of journalists.  Not only do I not trust them,  I find them opportunist to the core.  I will never help a single one of them.... like I did in the past.

VOA needs some serious people if it wants to reach the audience.

MK, like you two cents, add another two cents

by Mash Ghasem on

Mirza and Faramrz are more than enough to start with, for a TV program. They are essential icons  here on I.C., and elsewhere.

On the serious side, as much as a circus I.C. feels at times, somehow it has maintained it's own unrestrained  life, its own flow: with an amalgamation of notable talents in many different fields.

My most recent top two favourites here on IC are: Sadat Nory's Poetry Academy, and Azadeh Azad's contributions, each of which are enough programs for a few years. I'm sure everyone has their own top two in here.

Agree with you on Pakdaman and Nategh's limitations. Perhaps  another format, interview, with lots of editing, might help.

You forgot to mention Mahshid Amirshahi.

Do you play Poker?

Darling Parham the word you're looking for is "Modest Plug," No?

by amirparvizforsecularmonarchy on

I chose to be as modest as possible to nurture enlightenment rather than force it.  I chose Socrates, Plato, Ralph Waldo Emerson & George Bernard Shaw, many call these the leading intelligencia of their time, true philosophers and deep thinkers.

Iranians could use a little deep thought & philosophy in place of the main stream media, I think.  We've had lots of difficulty thinking for ourselves and allowing the Main Stream Media and politicians do the thinking for us.  That hasn't worked too well, as you will realize by reading the quotes it proves our politicians haven't had our well being in mind.  For more respect from intelligent people share this with your friends, they will be impressed with what you are truly giving them. //iranian.com/main/blog/amirparvizforsecu...

Parham, I want to get people to have a thoughtful AHA moment

by amirparvizforsecularmonarchy on

"They're killing and torturing people by the dozens (dozens? hundreds!)
in the homeland, and nobody really does much about it. The closest thing
we have to an opposition inside the country are people who themselves
are part of the system and as guilty as the rest of the junk that's
running the country. Lies, deceit and outright extreme cruelty have
taken over people's rites like nowhere else and there are only a
handful, themselves connected to this system of thugs, who are reaping
the benefits from this shambles. Poverty is reaching rates it probably
only reached during periods in the Qajar era, and nothing seems to be
going right"

Analysis 100% correct.

However, do you honestly think non-intellectuals on this blog can see how the situation is this bad and why the real solution is not out there but very very close to home also?  //iranian.com/main/blog/amirparvizforsecu...

This will give some the AHA moment and others will get it on another blog

Parham

If you think about it...

by Parham on

... there wasn't much there to laugh at either. You have this sabzi-foroosh-looking president who sticks his finger in his nose every chance he gets and makes comments about everything from jet engines and the effect of their explosion inside man-made towers to how much water you need to grow a potato, representing a nation that usually thinks it has fallen from the nose of the elephant and has a 2500 year-old culture to boast and if the Iraqis hadn't fouled then that would have been a goal.
They're killing and torturing people by the dozens (dozens? hundreds!) in the homeland, and nobody really does much about it. The closest thing we have to an opposition inside the country are people who themselves are part of the system and as guilty as the rest of the junk that's running the country. Poverty is reaching rates it probably only reached during periods in the Qajar era, and nothing seems to be going right (except for one IMF report that contradicts all of this, go figure)!
Really, what is there to make fun of? It's a lucky thing they didn't cry on stage at the show...
