Nuclear scientist killed in Tehran

U.S. denies involvement, condemns killing

BBC: The US has condemned the killing of an Iranian nuclear scientist in a car bomb attack in north Tehran. National Security Council spokesman Tommy Vietor said the US "had absolutely nothing to do" with the attack. Mostafa Ahmadi-Roshan, who worked at the Natanz uranium enrichment facility, died along with the driver of the car. "The United States had absolutely nothing to do with this. We strongly condemn all acts of violence, including acts of violence like this," said Mr Vietor >>>

off accusing people there is no proof who did this. Joe: I know you want to blame everything on Israel. But your antisemitism and tacit support of Hitler makes me sick.

Mehrdad: how do you know for sure who did this? Reasonable people will wait until we know what happened. You all assume this was Mossad. I just want to know how are you so sure. Given this I hope none of you serve on a jury.

Cost-of-Progress

eh...seems like it does not pay

to be an islamist sicentist these days. But I agree, that targetted assassinations should target the root cause, i.e., the anti nationalist, nuke-seeking theocracy whose policies can potentially end our identity once and for all as Iranians!

What a fucked up situation, no?

Horrible example

When more Democratic systems support murdering and terror (method) the less developed systems and societies follow with even harsher response. We all should remember these acts as starting point when it spreads further to harm more innocent population.

Mess

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on

We got a mess which is only going to go after Islamic Republic goes. Iran is being squeezed from all side by all nations. From US sanctions and threats to Chinese garbage just one way to be rid of them.

Get rid of the IRI and we are saved. Don't and we are screwed no matter what. This to all those intellectual a**holes who came up with Islamic Republic. Thanks now a whole nation suffers because you did this.

This is a clear act of terrorism…

by Bavafa on

Regardless of who is the responsible party that has been behind these acts and deserve every one’s condemnation.

I wonder if any of the “sane world” would condemn this terrorist act or they stick to hypocrisy

P.S. IRI has proven the ability and stamina to hit back and these strings of tit for tat is good for politicians but not humanity.

We put our journalist, writers, artis and thinkers in jails. They take care of people that are useless to Iran.

Esfand Aashena

Faramarz jaan we now have a pattern.

by Esfand Aashena on

Perhaps they didn't care much about the early ones and were non chalant about it, like they usually are about all subjects.

Hey Islamic Republic, US will kick your ass and will change your regime for good = no problem!

Sanctions will cripple your economy = no problem!

Your currency will sink = no problem!

Your senior military and nuclear experts will be eliminated one by one = no problem!

But we can't dismiss the pattern of these assassinations like they do, can we?  These can't be inside jobs anymore.  Even the green scientists if he had the nuclear goods Islamic Republic would've held his family and life hostage so that he can deliver what he could.  They don't care.  They only care about what they say to the outside world, inside they do the opposite.

There is a sustained strategy of targeted assassinations by foreign intelligence services in Iran to the levels we have not seen before!  Iran has done it again, we are #1 for another bad thing in the world!

Everything is sacred

Simorgh5555

All target assassinations

by Simorgh5555 on

All target assassinations should be aimed at the regime and not the scientists and researchers. I condemn the attack but I believe a campaign of terget assassinations againat the clerics, the Basij and the hanging judges is long over due. Target assassinationw can be very effective as this incident shows. It definitely is unnerving and the spectacle of a car bomb explosion is extremely unsettling and sends a powerful message to terrorists. I urge Israel to.use caution and only to target the hideous monsters who are at the seat of power and who have been waging war on Iranians and Israeli citizens for thirty years without a nuclear arsenal.
I also worry about the timimg.of this event given Hekmati has been given a death sentence and any chance, however, remote for the families to try and stop it will be closed.

I doubt this was a inside job, i would think it was Mossad or another foreign force.

Underscoring the fact that regime's massive security forces are only
good at dealing with unarmed. internal political opponents of the
regime, not able to protect the most important assets of the regime in
face of a well armed and determined enemy.

To be fair, Mossad are some of the best in the world at what they do. They have successfuly carried out many missions all over the world without their agents being captured in almost all of them. It's not just Iranian security forces that is incapable of stopping them

Roozbeh_Gilani

Two possibilities here:

by Roozbeh_Gilani on

1) it was an insider Job,  like the previous ones, done by IRI itself to settle internal scores and raise tensions, diverting attention from internal problems (collapsing economy, political oppression...) to a foreign enemy. A clear sign of Regime's desperation and weakness.

2) Done by a hostile country (no shortage of them....): An even bigger sign of regime's  desperation and weakness. Underscoring the fact that regime's massive security forces are only good at dealing with unarmed. internal political opponents of the regime, not able to protect the most important assets of the regime in face of a well armed and determined enemy.

I dare say, we will never know for sure who was responsible for the killing of this man.  I also dare say that sadly there will be lots more Iranians who'll have to pay the ultimate price for Islamist regime's reckless and warmongering foreign policy.

"Personal business must yield to collective interest."

Faramarz

Esfand Jaan

by Faramarz on

One of the ealy ones that was done in front of the guy's home by placing a remote control bomb on a moped and blowing it up as he got out of his house looked like a typical Hezbollah operation. The guy was also a Mousavi supporter. Also, Press TV was on site within minutes, they blame Mossad and they all went home!

On this one, the bearded scientist (victim) looks like a Basiji. The somber look on the faces of the Sepahi guys around the crime scene and the way they are dealing with the evidence looks different from the others.

Also, this past year both Panetta and Petraeus made it clear that there will be consequences to the Regime's actions against the US soldiers in Iraq and I believe that they are delivering on that.

And then there is the used-car salesman and the plot to kill the Saudi Ambassador. Since 9/11 they take these things extremely serious.

Darius Kadivar

Apparently he was commercial manager not Nuclear Scientist

by Darius Kadivar on

Pending confirmation but I heard that Iran Newspapers say, the assassinated man was deputy commercial manager at Natanz. Guardian and other Western newspaper have immediately referred to him as a nuclear scientist. Why?

Esfand Aashena

Faramarz jaan I think they were all assassinations!

by Esfand Aashena on

At first I thought some of the early assassinations were inside jobs.  Although the early ones on the green scientists may have been an inside job that gave the foreign intelligence assasins (Borne, 007 and Mission Impossible ;-) the idea to this strategy, I think it's clear by now that most are "outside" jobs.

I feel bad for all the innocent people who get killed or injured in all of these.  Bombings in the streets of Tehran. The Scientists themselves are ultimately the victim of Islamic Republic's wrong headed agenda.

Everything is sacred

This one looks like an assassination.

Unlike the others, they are treating this incident as a crime scene.
