Al Jazeera: Two days of talks between Iran and six world powers have failed to break the standoff over Iran's nuclear programme as it becomes apparent there are serious obstacles to an agreement. At the heart of it is an attempt by the US and other world powers to persuade Iran to accept immediate restrictions on its nuclear programme. So what's next in the standoff between Washington and Tehran? Guests: Lawrence Korb, Trita Parsi, Hooman Majid.

These morons who criticize are just hoping to change that place to another wahhabi state.

"Thought" 's arguement makes sense
by Azarbanoo on Fri May 25, 2012 07:34 AM PDTSo It seems to me the IRR/IRI is on his demise route and taking a lot of innocent IRANIANS with itself + detruction of IRAN and taking it to 100 years ago.
Dariush,
by Soosan Khanoom on Fri May 25, 2012 07:42 AM PDTSaddam could have left or replaced very easily giving the fact that he was on the CIA's payroll . But heck no... as long as they can make a " show and tell " event why take him through the backdoor.
Do you really think if U.S invades Iran it is going to bring Reza joon the second to power? Of course NOT ... they have already taken care of his father through that " show and tell " event in 70s why even bother?
Actually reza joon has more chance to come to power through reform ... cause, then and only then, may be some people start liking him as who he is rather than who his father was and as the result vote for him.

Good point Dr. Ala,
by Soosan Khanoom on Fri May 25, 2012 07:05 AM PDTThis also proves that common sense is now so rare that it
should be considered a super power.
It's not clever anymore, it's just stupid.
by Mohammad Ala on Fri May 25, 2012 07:01 AM PDTWell, let's recall what Colin Powell told the United Nations Security Council on February 5, 2003 that he subsequently called "one of my most momentous failures" and "the lowest point in my life": The material I will present to you comes from a variety of sources. Some are U.S. sources. And some are those of other countries. Some of the sources are technical, such as intercepted telephone conversations and photos taken by satellites. Other sources are people who have risked their lives to let the world know what Saddam Hussein is really up to.
I cannot tell you everything that we know. But what I can share with you, when combined with what all of us have learned over the years, is deeply troubling.
"Deeply troubling," is one way to put it. War crimes and crimes against humanity are another. And then the United States invaded Iraq, occupied it for over a decade, and killed hundreds upon hundreds of thousands of human beings there.
There are various depths to which propaganda about the Iranian nuclear program have sunk. It is not clever anymore, it is just stupid.
Mousa,

Educating tRita!
by Faramarz on Fri May 25, 2012 06:44 AM PDTThe new line by Trita that somehow all the blame for the lack of progress rests with the US and, Obama somehow cannot make tough decisions because of "other forces" in Washington is amusing to say the least.
Obama is the man who made the tough decision to land the Seals on bin-Laden's porch, not-quite-knowing who lived in that house, but fully aware of the consequences of the failed hostage rescue attempt by Jimmy Carter in Desert One.
Obama is a smart and decisive guy who knows this Regime well. He is pursuing a well-thought-through policy carefully and meticulously.

Dear Thought,
by Soosan Khanoom on Fri May 25, 2012 06:30 AM PDTI got the point ... cause I sometimes take my time to think; so I had " thought " about it too .
It is not just Saddam ... a review of Gazzafi's non conditional agreements should also be read. I believe it also has to do with Syria, if they have been successful in Syria there would have not been any negotiation talks with Iran.. Not even this fake one !!
And AIPAC lobby ! Just read Fred's daily blog ..LOL
I , however , do not think so Iran is buying time but rather it is BiBi who is buying time to have all the Euro slaves on his team, one by one. He needs time to do so but once he achived his gaols, then, he will use the Europian and U.S resources to invade Iran. BiBi has resources among the Ayatollahs as well... An RNA Virus exactly knows what it is up to .
Check out the "RNA Viruses" structure and function, then, you see what I mean !!
And now be ready for the keyboards to be thrown at me. Some are nice, they will ask what drink I prefer .. and, NO, they and their comments are not going to ever get flagged or deleted.

Thought shouts THINK
by Thought on Fri May 25, 2012 05:26 AM PDTThought wonders the reason behind approving more sanctions against a country that you are about to negotiate with two days before conference time.
Thought shouts THINK as thought works only through logic. The invisible hands had planned to fail any negotiations before it began.
Thought explains for those who suffer from fanaticism clouding mind syndrome:
The negotiators promised lifting some of the newest EU sanctions if Iran agrees to fully stop its 30% enrichment. Iran happily shows interest. They are to meet in Baghdad to negotiate the details then sign.
West asks UN chief to visit Iran to appear serious about negotiations but the plan is nothing more than cornering Iran from all ends. Show to all people that if talks fail, which they intent to push for, it's Iran's fault.
When negotiations begin, Iranian media happily reported about continuation of Istanbul talks to halt 20% and gain limited free trade. UN chief earlier had also shaken hands that possible exchange seem fair and reasonable.
Back two days, US system under influence of known lobby passes more sanctions. Most of the media ignored this event and majority of non-politically savvy disregarded it.
Iran announces that AIPAC is working hard to assure failure in negotiation regardless of initial Israeli reaction that they would be happy if Iran was producing 3% and if Iran allowed heavy monitoring.
Now Israel was working within the US system to assure the failure of talks. Thought encourages all to seek answers.
When talks begin, Iran starts with how they propose stoppage of 20% and allowing all sites to be visited at will for lifting newly imposed sanctions and gradual economic normality.
EU acts surprised and demands stopping enrichment without any offers. Iran is shocked and recognizes the plan. The negotiation is a scam. If Iran agress with West's demands then they will put more sanctions as they broadcast sanctions have worked. If Iran doesn't agree with their demands they push for more sanctions as they say need more sanction to make it work. Thought assumes you get the point.
To offer carrot carrying large sticks EU proposes spare parts for Iranian aging fleet, not even allowing purchase of new ones. Thought believes that this is a good start however thought encourages all to review Saddam’s deal with the West before destruction of Iraq.
Thought lets the ending be made by readers as thought does not predict.
Thought emphasizes the logical disagreement with illogical and anti-progressive format of Iranian regime yet disagrees that failure of these negotiations is Iranian fault. Negotiation failed before it started when US system voted to impose more sanctions.
