I have the balls to wear Bakhtiari men's trousers, but then I'm female.

What about men?

by Jahanshah Javid on

Hi B-Naam, I think Farahnaz said some of the jackets are also suitable for men. But her concentration is on women's fashion. Qajar style clothes for today's men? I'm all for it! But who has the balls to wear them?!

I agree with JJ. How can we...

by B-Naam on

...make traditional clothing appealing for us men?  And I'm not  talking only about shirts.  What about Qajar-style dresses? Or traditional long coats from different part of Iran?  JJ, does she only promote traditional women outfits or she is thinking about expanding to men?

I doubt

by Anonymous77 (not verified) on

I seriously doubt that these will do well out of practical reasons. No one wants to stick out because they are tripping over their dress going to work. Why doesn't she mix those e.g. scarves with 'normal' everyday wear?
I've been dressing like that for years, mixing styles and wearing the long coats on special occasions. Otherwise one would look as if one's just fallen off the boat.
She needs to change the presentation then it'll work out really well.

Very interesting designes. They seem simple and elegant at the same time.

Great photos. Picture #4 is

by Anonymousk (not verified) on

Great photos. Picture #4 is a cheap imitation of real "Balooch Doozi". Balooch Doozi is an art in and of itself just like rug making...the real ones are very expensive even in Zahedan.

Profit sharing

by Jahanshah Javid on

My dear fair trader... you're not being fair. First of all we are talking about maybe 25 items of clothing which if they all get sold there's a profit of MAYBE a few hundred dollars. So let's not assume the original manufacturers in the remote, poor areas of Iran are being robbed of millions! Besides, Farahnaz Mazandarani said she will go to the tribal areas and buy directly from the women tailors at a price higher than what the bazaaris pay them.

Good business!

by Fair trading! (not verified) on

Photo 21: True that $60 to $120 per item is a bargain for us living outside Iran. BUT the question to ask is how much does it cost to buy these items in Iran? I can just tell you that it's a very high mark up... Not fair for the manufacturer in Iran! They do the hard work, someone else makes the profit.
