In the state we live, we have hezbollahis like this group who greeted Antarinejad in New York hotel. 

Although (believe it or not) most of them are really dumb enough to be sincere in the feelings they demonstrate for Antarinejad and the Mullah regime, a good percentage (not majority) are paid informants who were planted in the 1980's and even early 1990's as students and tourists who overstayed their visas and somehow became legal!  There is also the percentage who would go to these things to get a free, catered dinner at Hilton hotel! Go figure!

I went to college with one of the Hezbollahi types. He was actually a very nice and sincere guy when we spoke to him in college cafeteria. But people had no doubt he was an agent of the IRI (his views and his looks may be). I thought he had gone back to Iran but 2 years ago I saw him after a long time again at a Sizdah bedar outing. He was with his wife and several teenage kids. They had come to the park with several other families who were obviously Islamic. They all looked the type and sat in a cluster away from the live music and the rest of Iranians. No one knows how most of these people make a living and almost all of them stay long stretches in Iran on annual trips.

Yes, our country does not receive much respect, but whose fault is it? We, and I mean our society as a whole, has not achieved the level of sophistication and maturity compared to other countries in the west. We may have the right to blame others for it, but at some point, we have to accept that it is the weakness of our society/culture that has allowed others to manipulate our government. Any well established democracy looks out for its' own security and the wellfare of its' citizens. It is survival of the fittest at a much broader level. The solution is to accept that we need to better ourselves, modernize our predominant religion, have parents raise their sons and daughters as equals and participate in politics abroad. This will happen with time but in order to speed up this process we need to first accept our weaknesses, not dwell on the nostalgic past and move on.

These people that go to greet this guy, are the same people who left Iran the first chance they got to come here and use all the things that are available to them. These same people support the Iranian regime, but would never live in Iran because they would miss the benefits that America offers them (better healthcare, better education, better clubs/malls, alcohol, and casinos).
