Green Scroll in San Francisco

Photo essay: On June 12 anniversary

demotix.com: People gathered in San Francisco's Chrissy Field Saturday and marched past people hiking and biking along the beach and then up a hill overlooking Golden Gate Bridge. They carried a 2000 meter scroll which had been signed by Iranians in many countries. When the march ended, a group of people held up the pictures of people who had been killed in the protests while wearing shirts with the names of each person and how and when they died. Also see "Green Day in the Bay" and "Golden Gate Goes Green". Watch video.

Thank you for participating! All of you are great! It is easy to watch from the sideline and criticize, it is not easy to sacrifice the spare time and get involved! Thank you for your time and effort!

Wow! It appears that only 15 people died...

Sorry but this, like the Green Movement itself, is largely sad and lame. How many signatures are on this banner? 10,000? 100,000? So what? 2000 meters of objection? That's it?

As an object of scale, this is one of the worst and weakest ways to visually demonstrate a simple objection. Especially when the signatures are not the names of the dead. That would be impressive. But that this is just the names of people who think the Iranian election was rigged? Honey, everyone in the world thinks the election in Iran was rigged, so 2000 meters of it ain't sh*t.

But I'm sure it was a lot of fun for the folks who participated. Even made them feel like they were doing something I'll bet. Unfortunately, they weren't.

The Green Emperor Has No Clothes.

Especially now, we need to think BEFORE doing! Just doing to do something is an absolute waste of enthusiasm and time. Because you know how quickly we Iranians get bored...

This was such a perfect demonstration. The Green Scroll is even more impressive up close than it is in photographs. All those good people carried it for several hours around what must be one of the most breathtaking views in the world. The effect is really beautiful, telling the world that we have not forgotten and that we stand in solidarity with the people of Iran. Thanks for sharing Bahahreh Jan.
