In search of my lost city

Bahmani bricks, tall sycamores kissing each other on top of the streets, bitter sweet smell of water splashed dusty pavements, loud calls of walking vendors through narrow alleys, cool summer night sleeps on roof tops, shady afternoon plays under the grapevines, summer afternoon naps in the basement, munching under Korsi with numerous cousins .... these are all symbols of my lost city. But there is still something more, a quality which painted my lemony afternoons of childhood, a wave of warmth in the hearts of people, a beautiful simplicity in relationships, a "thing" which faded into the gray sky of my lost city along with the young boy that was me. As Googoosh sings: "from those days till today, I've been looking for the one whom I lost during those days".

by Mash Ghasem on Wed Oct 26, 2011 11:27 PM PDTYes we are bache mahal! When I was growing up there, as a kid I always thought that Amirieh starts from Rah Ahan and goes all the way up to Monireih, later on I found out that most of that strech was not called Amireih proper.
We used to live in Ghaleh Vazir. Thanks for the other blog, Cinema Flore was one of our regular "hang outs!" I could wait till eternity for more pictures from that neighborhood. Thanks once more.

Lost Architecture
