by Persian Gulf (not verified) on Fri Nov 21, 2008 05:04 PM PSTI'm glad to see that they have corrected the map (pic 2) and put the correct name of the gulf, PERSIAN GULF, on the map. Last time I was there, it was Arabian Gulf - stupid!

by Moosh e Bidandoon (not verified) on Fri Nov 21, 2008 02:09 PM PSTHi,
These pictures are GREAT, but I suggest you change the name of your photo essay from "Louvre Museum, IRAN section" to the Louvre Museum, Ancient NEAR EAST section" instead or as Louvre label's it:
"Near Eastern Antiquities".
For those folks who do not know ancient Near Eastern history well, the pictures on the 2nd page are of the Sumerian, Babylonian and Assyrian civilizations of ancient Iraq, while the first page are mosty Hakhamaneshi (Achemenid) and some Ashkani(Parthian).
You also have no pictures of all the GREAT art from the "Elamite" (Ilami or Anshan)section of the Louvre, from the Iranian-Khuzestan region and especialy the city of Susa (Shoosh). The Louvre has the best and I dare say almost all of the important Elamite art in the world housed there.
Look at the sites below:

The sad fact is that they would have all been destroyed or damaged if they had been left in Iran.
The ones in iran have been destroyed under mullas.
(1) Khalkhali tried to destroy pasargad.
(2) IRI flooded the pasargad pass way with some 170 sites going under water (according to UN) behind Sivand dam.
(3) Few months back, one of news agencies reported that when digging to build a road in Khark Island a scripted stone with cuneiform was found from Hakhamaneshi period. Few nights later the writings were damaged overnight with a drill-like tool.
(4) For those who have visited sites in iran, even the historical mosques have been neglected and is full of dirt and dries up rain fall. It is so sad to see those is such poor condition.
video clips of Shah
by paymanjon on Fri Nov 21, 2008 12:01 PM PSTthe clips are very interesting as with all propaganda piece it's filled with "canned" applause etc...
in all of the clips of the shah he is always visiting other countries, or water skiing or snow skiing or playing tennis, i wonder how much attention the country was getting then. Can't help being reminded of George W's first term in the office before 9/11

by Shahriar on Fri Nov 21, 2008 11:20 AM PST1) When I visited The Iranian section in Louvre, I sat on a bench overlooking the huge Persepolis column, not looking at the column but the expression of awe on the faces of people who just turn the corner, enter the section and face the column. It was quite amusing.
2) I always cursed the "foreigners" for looting Iran's historical artifacts, but after visiting Louvre, I was so grateful that they took these out of Iran and preserverd them with the care they deserve. The sad fact is that they would have all been destroyed or damaged if they had been left in Iran.
Alireza Ajam thank you

by Anonymous Misha (not verified) on Fri Nov 21, 2008 10:37 AM PSTWhat are you trying to do, give a heart attack to islamists? Iran practically did not exist before Shia safavids, let alone before islam. Listen to Mullas Ajam Jaan.
