Weaving Colors

Paintings

by Mani M

Elementary questions: Is painting a matter of fine lines or of patchwork and mosaic? How to weave colors? Should an Iranian painter maintain and adhere to his or her cultural heritage, or join the universal language of the time? Would a synthesis be better? Different times, different feelings, but always the same concerns. Questions that forever remain.

Atefeh

what is in it?

by Atefeh on

No one thing. A work of art speaks to each of us using our alphabet in art language. Knowing the "thing" will demystify the piece  and therefore we will feel less or no enjoyement at all.

Just enjoy it

And more questions

What is this beautiful thing coming from the artist's mind that is so appealing to our common experience? What is it?

SHOULD .......

by Atefeh on

I feel Mani has actually found his own language, however I hope the question of  should  or  shouldn't  does not limit his future paintings.

Artists and  limits do not mix

Absolutely gorgeous

In the age of color, digital and instant photography, weaving colors is all that painting can still do best - and do like no camera can, because mind has no visual limits.

Should an Iranian painter maintain and adhere to his or her cultural heritage, or join the universal language of the time?

A painter who wishes to emphasize an Iranian identity should work to make his/her cultural heritage part of the universal language of the time. Yours is an impressive labor, by the way.

Mehrban

Nice work

I can see re-interpretation of other modern/contemporary painters.  Names like Dubuffet, Pollock, Rothko, Bracque come to mind by some of your paintings, I can even see some of Haring.  There are interesting ideas going on in your paintings, I am curious about the actual sizes of them.
