This program is very fascinating and interesting. I truly enjoyed it and wanted to share it with those who are interested in this topic. Modernity vs Tradition broadcast from IRIB channel 3. You must use Internet Explorer to be able to view this show.

Gives a good overview of what informed Iranian Islamic intellectuals are grappling with regarding modernity. One scholar's distinction between understanding the West and becoming Westernized was among the keen insights. I did note however that the Islamic framework was not questioned; the criticisms had to with failure of proper modern implementation and provincial assumptions about of what Islam is.
