What about Muhammad?

After 160 years of intolerance and persecution in the cradle of their Faith, Iran, the Baha'is do not have much reason to support the tolerance of Islam by any group; whether it be on this site or elsewhere.

However, Muhammad cannot be held responsible for the actions of the fanaticism that Islamic clergy have stirred up amongst Muslim believers, just as Jesus cannot be held responsible for the inquisition and witch-burnings of the Church.  Can anyone dispute this without bias?

We should not tolerate religious hatred, fanaticism and proselytism as they are defective human attitudes and qualities.  They are the most definitive signs that the animating spirit of the Faith of these believers has left the body of their religion. In short, nothing is left but a scripture devoid of life, potency, and relevance.  Is there any wonder why Islamic societies find themselves in this state of decreptitude?

It is this recognition that bears witness to much of the condemnation of Islam here and elsewhere. The fear of Islam that is instilled in the hearts and minds of people around the world is well justified.  But can we ultimately judge Muhammad, as Islamic societies, alongside the rest of the world, experience their own form of decline?  Are we blind to the decline in Western, so called Christian societies, even during the biggest heist of people's wealth?

Any fair minded person would understand this reasoning and would consider it as their own without pride or prejudice, when dealing with such questions.

The respect afforded one Manifestation of God does not come at the expense of another.  The defence of the Baha'is and the recognition of their plight is not in lieu of a compromise in the rights of others.  Linking the two is simply baseless and founded on a false premise that there is a scarcity of respect just as if it were a commodity.  Such a view represents is unenlightened and sadly is the basis for much of the challenges facing us Iranians inside and outside of Iran.

Respect, compassion, and love do not follow the laws of commodities as they are regenerative.  The more they are shared and given, the more plentiful they are.  Is there any evidence to the contrary?

Happy thanksgiving!

Hey Q

by KavehV (not verified) on

That cracked me up too :) I could swear I saw Tehran in his scribbling. Anyhow, my question still stands, albeit moving back 4 centuries. There is still a big lapse of judgment in relating these "SOB's" (and remember there were many immigrants and the flow is even bigger today, so someone else might get extinct soon) to native American extinction. Don't you think so ?

cheers

PS The second thing that craked me was being called (100%)Muslim, I don't recall being called that, ever. I'll take it, we're now Muslim pals, right ? :)

Forgive me intruding into your discussion.

It is absolutley fine with me you do not have any belief and since you consider all religions are the root of all evil therefore my detective assumption is that you are not devil worshiper either!!!

However your comment, "100% Muslim attitude", is racist. If you do not believe me check it out for yourself.

Thanks Q! Kaveh seems to be phenomenally clueless.

Even before thinking a nano second about what he reads, he attacks, personally, the writer and not the message.

100% Iranian and 100% Muslim attitude.

Q

KavehV, "lapse in judgement" ?

by Q on

LOL. The SOB's he's talking about are the Pilgrims, religious settlers from Europe who performed the first Thanksgiving in Plymouth colony back in 1621.

I can understand in depth and detail the validity of your first two sentences. Not being an apologist for many US policy horrors and mistakes. How in the world do you arrive at the conclusion in your last sentence ?

How are these SOBs (and I don't know why they are SOBs), due in Tehran tomorrow, are related to the american Indian genocide ?

The lapses in judgment in Iranian community is just phenamenal!

Fundamentalism of every ilk

by sickofiri (not verified) on

Fundamentalism of every ilk perverts god's message and institutionalizes murder.

A state that uses religion as an ideology does so to deny justice. A religion that needs the force of the state has no spiritual validity

I reject both

by Bardia 77 (not verified) on

I reject both Muhammad and his message. Judaism, Christianity and Islam, all 3 are the root of all evil in the world. And tomorrow we will be celebrating arrival of a group of SOBs who performed genocide of the American Indian.

Go figure.

Mohammad's own behavior and

by don'tblameus (not verified) on

Mohammad's own behavior and conduct reflects very badly on him. He acted more like a warmonger and a cult leaders than a holy/spiritual person in his life time.

If anyone is to blame, it's him.

Divine message of the Lord

by samsam1111 on

Dear Mr Alborz

If I may intrude, I myself being a spiritual person & a strong believer in the power of almighty absolute being (God) , reject the intrusion of worldly messengers to come in between me & God ., I look at all prophets & their religions as agents of change for their native culture  be it to promote the afflicted , underclass, gender rights or so on . I personaly respect all great religions since most carry the divine message of Lord , with, some half truth & lies . The truth comes from the Lord and lies come from the earthly messenger , the human . I respect Mohammad for 2 reasons, 1-being a prophet of a religion , 2- His hands were clear of Iranian blood while he lived (never mind the letters to Rome & Iran) . How ever the proceeding khallifs took it upon themselves to preach the message beyond native Arabia via sword , changing the image of Muslims from the some what oppressed to the oppressor .

Islam is a reality & a collective religious refuge for millions(for good or bad) . In the case of Islamophobia , I look at it thru my Iranic lenz . My approach to Islam is pretty simple in 3 steps to change Iranic Ommatist psyche,  1- God  2- Country(Iran) 3 - religions(Private) . This way unlike the fools approach , You don,t target Islam as a religion but the ommatist brokers/messengers (Mullahs) who use/distort/magnify Islamic mixed message as a Trojan horse of hate to further their useless existance . To Mullahs,  Islam is a Dokoon , store(one aspect of Ommatism) to justify their hold on power .  Avoid attacking Islam  but expose the brokers & crush the store  . Once Ommatism is buried, Islam will be, to a lesser degree, like most other religions .

Cheers & Keep well!!!

There are no bad followers - only bad leaders

by Mehdi Mazloom on

Muhammad had laid the foundation of and the code of conduct by which every Muslim to follow as inscribed in his "revelations". He is the one who told those backward Bedouins in Arabia, to whom he claimed his words were directly from Allah. Not the other way.

All of those Islamist cucumbers whom you are referring to, all pride themselves to be following Muhammad's teachings.

Here is another axiom which goes like that.

SHOW ME YOUR LEADERS, AND YOUR ASSOCIATES - AND i WILL TELL YOU EXACTLY WHOM YOU ARE.

With all due respect to those moderate and level headed Muslims. If you examine Muhammad's legacy, it is very easy to realize that, no one on this earth had instilled so much fear on so many people for so long.

Otherwise, why a man should be beheaded for  saying "Some of Muhammad's deeds and actions would not have been acceptable in today's standard"

Separate Muhammad from his message, and a whole world of pleasant surprises will shine upon you.
