Food, Quality or Quantity?

Food, Quality or Quantity?

Is there enough for everybody?

What is the future of food?

Water availability and its quality?

The food sold at fast food chains.

Naturally grown foods (Organic) and genetically modified foods.

Food preservation methods, canning, frozen and chilled, Freez dried and sun dried foods.

There are many areas to discuss this issue. I would like to start with quality of food available at fast food joints, especially for our young ones.

waste of bread

by earth lover (not verified) on

I know what you mean by food waste. In Iran, there is a lot of waste regarding bread, so if it is more than one day old regarding most bread types, except lavash, people get rid it, just because the price is cheap and subsidized. There should be a price hike, and increased quality, so people think twice before throwing it out it.

Food..,

by amjad on

 Dear Earth Lover,

I have to agree with you there. However, Don't you think it will be a good idea to start thinking of ways of tackling the problems at present and then thinking about the future.

I feel it is time to educate people to respect food, limit the consumption and limit the waste. Eat moderately . save food, use modern methods of preseving food. I live in Middle East and the food abuse here is at its worst..  we should not take it for granted.

The ever increasing population is a BIG problem and must be addressed to before all the earth resources are exhausted... I am sure the people will still be thinking...

well ... there will always be a Macdonald. :))

Food

by Hussain (not verified) on

Yes, you are absolutely right. But is it worth the compromise? The fast food culture is a problem. It is turning our lives around. But we also realise that it was need of the time which made it popular.
So there is no way out of it except making sure that they dont take us for a ride.
After all.. as they say, '' we are, what we eat! :)
My other concern was about a lot of food being wasted in richer countries where in many areas of the world, it is scarce.
What can be done for that?

Our planet is suffering

by earth lover (not verified) on

Our planet is suffering because there are just too many people. There needs to be population control, so eventually poverty, wars and many other ill will lessen and diminish. There needs to be a systematic way of decreasing the world population, by stages to at least 1/100 of of it is now. Who needs all these people? Corporations need them for consumerism of course, in the mean time, they are polluting the earth. ( both people and corporations)

Meanwhile put a lot of money in reasearch and development of clean energy, treating and curing diseases, and other scientific projects to better human life, and perserving our suffering earth.

Otherwise, you'll always see signs like" feed this" for "help that", bla bla.

Quality for 99 Cents?

by farokh2000 on

You are asking about quality at the Fast Food Places?

How could you expect quality for 99 cents of Double Cheesburger?

If it was quality, you could not make that at home for that price, forget all their Overhead costs.

I think if you are looking for quality, your best bet is to made it at home, no matter fast food or non-fast food.
