I was on Facebook tonight and saw Hoder's ( Hossein Derakhshan ) picture on the top right corner of my home page.Facebook was suggesting for me to add him as a friend.Probably because he's a friend/contact of a friend of mine.It made me wonder about his whereabouts , his situation. No one talks about him anymore ! I am assuming he's still detained but why no one is making any efforts to free him? I know that the opinions are divided on him and I am no expert on Hoderism but why the silence? If he' a ploytical prisoner in Iran ,this is a good opportunity for us to bring up his name. Does anyone have any insight on this issue?

Agreeing with Hoder's imprisonment is to agree with Ahamadinejad
by K (not verified) on Mon Jul 06, 2009 01:22 PM PDTI don't get the source of yea right's bitterness. Hoder was a journalist and a thinker and now he is detained (illegally) because of that: simply for giving his opinions. It is perfectly fine to disagree with someone's arguments. But condemning him for that is just the same that Ahamadinejad is doing. What is the difference between Ahamadinejad that jails his dissidents and yea right that is happy for Hoder's imprisonment? I think it is just sad...
Saying "anything" to get back into Iran
by truthseeker (not verified) on Sat Jun 27, 2009 10:08 AM PDTIf you review what Hoder said and wrote over a long period you'll see consistency in his views. Then suddenly, within the last couple of years prior to his return to Iran he started saying the opposite. Stating support for people and ideas that he had never supported. Why? Because, in my view, he urgently needed to return to Iran. But why? Is is possible that his friends or family had been threatened and that he had been coerced to return - if only so they could get ahold of him. This wouldn't be the first time a vocal dissident in exile was coerced to return via threats to that person's family and friends. I believe this to be the reason for Hoder's strange change of views.
But most important, as others have pointed out, support for Hoder isn't about support for anything he said or did (all of which must be scrutinized according to other similar contexts as I mentioned) but that he was arrested for simply having a blog and opinions. That they accused him of spying for Isreal is bogus and the standard-issue crime for anybody they need to quickly jail. Hoder isn't a spy. He would have been lousy at it. Hoder is just a regular young Iranian guy who wanted to write about the world, post photos and live his life. He is no criminal, spy or political traitor.
An Idealist
by ghalam-doon on Thu Jun 25, 2009 02:58 PM PDTSome of us might have been impressed by some of the stuff that Ahmadinejad was saying about the plight of the Palestinians etc. But we weren't foolish enough to put ourselves in danger. Hoder was an idealist and he really saw something good in this regime. So he put himself in danger just to prove to us that the I.R. is not what we think it is. I.R. proved him wrong. I hope he's okay but the events of last few weeks and Hoder's imprisonment show that he was a real fool.
I am sure he is in good hands
by yea right (not verified) on Thu Jun 25, 2009 10:02 AM PDTHe was kissing Ahamadinejad's and Khamenei's ass in his last few posts, I remember him calling Khamenei "a benevolent dictator" and was a supporter of Ahmadinejad, I am sure he is safe and is in good hands. Probably giving advice on how to oppress people.
He was a pro-ahmadinejad

Hoder predicted a lot of what we're seeing now
by I Have a Crush on Alex Trebek on Thu Jun 25, 2009 04:59 AM PDTHe predicted this Rafsanjani v. KHamenei war. It is too bad that he isn't free to tell us more.
Hoder
by Paymaneh Amiri on Thu Jun 25, 2009 04:18 AM PDTI have inquired about Hoder from my activist friends in Iran several times. Unfortunately for various reasons, his case has received only spotty attention by most human rights activists in Iran. The rumors about Hoder are so macaber and serious, they are better left unsaid. It has been my understanding all along that his family actively discourage people from questioning and publicizing his long detention and any progress in his case. I wish him well and hope to see him alive and well soon, refuting all rumors. Prisons are for criminals and people who have only expressed their opinions should never be penalized for doing so.
Thanks for the Reminder ...
by Darius Kadivar on Thu Jun 25, 2009 03:53 AM PDTI can't understand why Iranian.com has not put up a permenant logo demanding his freedom since his arrest as a sign of solidarity with a fellow feature writer of this website.
What if we were in Hoder's shoes right now ? Would anyone care about our whereabouts or campaign for our release as they did for Roxana Saberi ?
I guess one needs to be a Super Model to draw any attention otherwise I guess the key word is ... SCREW YOU !
Truly Shameful that NOT EVEN ONE WORD was Pronounced during the Self Congratulatory Iranian.com Concert
//iranian.com/main/albums/night-palace
in support of Hoder ... or a reminder of the late Iranian.com feature writers who have passed away since ...
