This is like Israel's Peace Process with the Arabs!!!
by Immortal Guard on Sun Jan 23, 2011 08:26 PM PSTThis is like Israel's Peace Process with the Arabs!!!
It is just a process!
Yes, Ari
by Azadeh Azad on Sun Jan 23, 2011 03:17 PM PSTMy reading of this cartoon – with or without writings on the signs, but more acceptable without any writing - is that the sign on the right is big, solid, attractive and self-assured, pointing in a specific direction to some specific place or goal. While, the sign on the left is this broken, ugly little thing that is pointing at the road, as if saying: keep on going, and going, and going, and ... :-))
My interpretation, before you made your suggestion, was exactly as I mentioned above. I did not write it earlier because the sign ''1 Mile'' could have contradicted my idea that those who choose to walk on the Road of Reform (and Not on the Road to Reform) will walk for a mile and then ... Nothing. Because one could have said ‘’Why nothing? Why not Reform? The real intention of the sign is to point at the direction of Reform, even if it is physically pointing at the road!)
In the wordless version of your cartoon, those who choose the left sign, will walk and walk and walk… like the Nowhere Man… till they drop dead. While those who choose the right sign will get somewhere. That somewhere could be Hell, but it is somewhere! :-)
The moral of the two cartoons in our minds: The Reform sign is not pointing in any specific direction, at any specific place of Change. It points only at the road, at the Process of Reform. Such eternal trip will keep the IRI in place eternally, so to speak.
Right? :-)

Nice Cartoon Ari jaan
by divaneh on Sun Jan 23, 2011 05:37 AM PSTI wonder if the dire state of the reform sign is because the saloon had been closed for some time.
Roozbeh, cartoons work even
by Ari Siletz on Sun Jan 23, 2011 01:53 AM PSTAzadeh: great Beatles song. Thanks. Poor Nowhere Man, I remember in the Yellow Submarine everyone pitied him, going round and round in circles like a phonograph disk. By the way, I think the above cartoon would tell a more interesting story without any writing on the signs. What do you think?
MM, Esfand, Comrade, Moosir, Monda, and Demo, glad you joined the party.
Revolution is revolutionary
by MOOSIRvaPIAZ on Sun Jan 23, 2011 12:59 AM PSTRevolutions are uncertain and unpredictable. their future too. Not all of them turn out into happy hours!
Nowhere Man
by Azadeh Azad on Sat Jan 22, 2011 10:02 PM PSTAri: interesting cartoon. For some obscure reason, it makes me think of the following lyrics by the Beattles :-)
Nowhere Man
He's a real Nowhere Man,
Sitting in his Nowhere Land,
Making all his Nowhere plans for nobody.
Doesn't have a point of view,
Knows not where he's going to,
Isn't he a bit like you and me?
Nowhere man please listen,
You don't know what you're missing,
Nowhere Man, the world is at your command.
He's as blind as he can be,
Just sees what he wants to see,
Nowhere Man can you see me at all?
Nowhere Man don't worry,
Take your time, don't hurry,
Leave it all till somebody else, Lends you a hand.
Doesn't have a point of view,
Knows not where he's going to,
Isn't he a bit like you and me?
Nowhere Man please listen,
You don't know what you're missing,
Nowhere Man, the world is at your command.
He's a real Nowhere Man,
Sitting in his Nowhere Land,
Making all his Nowhere plans for nobody.
Making all his Nowhere plans for nobody.
Making all his Nowhere plans for nobody.
Ari jaan,
by Bavafa on Sat Jan 22, 2011 08:49 PM PSTI suppose this cartoon needs to clarify if this is from an Iranian point of view or the "sane world" view?
For some, neither way will yield the satisfactory outcome thus advocating twice a day for a third and preferred way
"air tight sanction" and "surgical bombing"

The "Reform" to "Nowhere!"
by Demo on Sat Jan 22, 2011 04:36 PM PSTAnd where is the half-broken/falling "reform" short-cut is leading to??? A "Blue" colored "Mirage" known by previous travellers as "Nowhere!"
PS. Thnx Roozbeh for your thoughtful highlighted ending!
Good cartoon Ari, but...
by Roozbeh_Gilani on Sat Jan 22, 2011 04:10 PM PSTI the layman would make the following change to your otherwise excellent work of art:
The guy who went "left", was wearing an expensive italian shoe, was carrying excess weight due to soft living and too much chelo kabab in the west and his delicate feet just could not take the 100miles march to the right unless as a passenger in a second hand BMW350 with 60K on the clock & googoosh music blaring out on the CD player!
The barefooted guy though, turned right, as he was tough, used to walking , knew what he wanted and had nothing to lose but his chains...
good Ari, let's party
by MM on Sat Jan 22, 2011 04:02 PM PSTyou sure it is not slut machines?

King-size bed without a king.
by comrade on Sat Jan 22, 2011 03:48 PM PSTEven those with proper footwear should go to the left. The fancy sign leads to a mirage, only!
Never increase, beyond what is necessary, the number of entities required to explain anything.
Ari jaan what's "Hot Machines"?! .... The blue dot
