The N word comes from hate,

by jonloton0098 on

The N word comes from hate, anger, disgust, and centuries of slavery mentality which non of those are present in the Iranian culture. It can be racist but not the same as Western racists, who are hateful.

I add to what Ari said, the fact that, to a much lesser degree than the white establishment in the US, the Iranian elite of the Safavid and Qajar era imported hundreds of slaves from Ethiopia and other African countries. If you are interested in knowing more about this issue, I recommend Behnaz Mirzai-Asl’s doctoral dissertation at York University, Toronto, called "'Slavery, the Abolition of the Slave Trade, and the Emancipation of Slaves in Iran, 1828- 1928." You may order a copy of this thesis by contacting York University's social sciences library or graduate studies department

Iranians use "kaka sia" to make fun of the appearence of a person's race rather than to deny his/her essential worth as a human. So I see your point. But this distinction is subtle enough to be lost in translation. Larijani's boorish lack of finesse in intercultural sensiblity has done Iranians precisely the disservice you are warning us about.

Larijani is "trying hard" to add racism to "Iran's" repertoire

Please correct me if I am wrong

Please correct me if I am wrong. The N word comes from hate, anger, disgust, and centuries of slavery mentality which non of those are present in the Iranian culture. It can be racist but not the same as Western racists, who are hateful. We all must be careful not to show the word that we do have such racists, because we don't.

Hi Azadeh,

Great job! I did not know the "N" word exists in Farsi until this episode occurred!

Thank you for the political cartoon!

Add hit-and-run driver. Or is it that IRI licence plates identify the car by blood type?

Princess

Very expressive

I love the sad humour in this, Azadeh jan. Thank you!

Dear Azadeh, thanks for your excellent Cartoon.

Azadeh jan, loved your cartoon.  Indeed IRI top leaders are perfectionist az dare aghab. So instead of "pendare Neek, Goftar Neek, kerdare neek", IRI top leaders have the most disgusting thoughts, say universally detestable words and commit horrific crimes.
