Great piece. Yes we do need
by Farhad Kashani on Fri Aug 21, 2009 03:28 PM PDTGreat piece. Yes we do need to counter IRIs propaganda and we need to do that strongly and effectively.
The ones who are upset by this are regime apologists themselves. So Bahram jaan, keep doing what you’re doing. We are exposing them.
Thanks aziz.
Ostaad, the distinction
by oktaby on Thu Aug 20, 2009 10:26 AM PDTpoint is a reasonable one and I am mindful of it. I specified iricrimes site as a related reference only as I know the founders that work in other arenas. To illustrate my point about why it is important to counter the large network of islamic republic on direct and indirect payroll, I could use the example of Nazi's, former communist republics, or even far right in U.S.. To use the latter as an example: Richard Pearl, Wolfowitz, Rumsfeld, and likes of T. Friedman, Howard Shultz...that are from all walks of life ranging from government to media to academia. Are they criminals? Collaborators? Racist? full of Agenda? The short answer is yes. Did they influnece policy and opinion? definitely. Friedman who has gained such global reputation as a thinker was vitriolic in his support of 'civilizing middle east', Iraq war (and later ate crow and partially backtracked) and far right policies and he actually had quite a fancy description for as he is capable of composing it. They were all on the wrong side of history, reason, and fundamentally so. Wolfowitz was considered a lunatic even in the inside circles of Pentagon but once in power we saw what they did (ala most of islamic regime leaders). The proponents like those I named and many others had a role in bringing him and others to power and/or helped keep them there too long. Without a large number of people scheming GWB will not be able to do what he did or get relected. However, in the name of free speech them and many others got away with defending Bush's assanine policies that were not just bad for Middle east but disasterous for U.S. They all filled their pockets. The same goes for people in this video and NIAC, AIPAC....because they are profiting from others' misery. They do have the free speech which is why we see and hear them but what are they using this free speech for? To enrich and enfame themselves defending the immoral and illegal. One could argue these people in the video still believe in the islamic regime and it is not just profiteering at the expense of Irani (and other) blood!? The islamic regime's actions and existence is illegal, immoral and anti-human by any definition and in any context. That is not just an argument to be proven anymore. That U.S. and world capital system is corrupt and is screwing people is true but irrelevant to what islamic regime is doing to Iran and Irani. But if that is still in argument for these people or anyone else, then that is a moral compass so broken no one can fix and a gap that can not be bridged.
oktaby, I hope you see the disticntion here.
by Ostaad on Thu Aug 20, 2009 07:33 AM PDTthe work of inicrimes.org is to document assassinations, executions and torture events done by the regime and its henchmen and women to the Iranian people, who have opposed the regime in one form or another. That is a laudable task which is NECESSARY for the prosecution of the perpetrators by the qualified courts.
What is suggested here is targeting people who have done nothing of the sort. What is being targeted here is public speech. Unless any of these participants are advocating terrorism, torture or killing we as civilized people must recognize their right of free speech.
I hope we won't lose sight of that crucial point in this debate.
Bahram, you bring attention to an important issue
by oktaby on Wed Aug 19, 2009 12:43 PM PDTMost of the people in this video are well known and established IR agents and supporters. I think creating a central datasource that compiles and helps identify collaborators and supporters of islamic regime who are typically less visible would be a worthwhile effort. That may include businesess here that do significant amount of trade or specialized trade with certain components of islamic regime, key members of foundations that abuse the charity provisions of IRS (Iman, Alavi....), individuals that organize (not necessarily speak) events that support or otherwise endorse islamic regime etc. Please leverage //www.iricrimes.org/ and I am interested to collaborate with a focused group on this.
Mr. Bahram
by capt_ayhab on Wed Aug 19, 2009 12:04 PM PDTI got to admit that I agree with Mr. Ostaad here. What is it exactly these people are doing that you consider them [Ayaadi] of IR. Open televised discussion is hardly what an [ayaadi] would do since they do not want to be recognized?
Lets not expose people and their privacy just because they might hold a different view point with us. Its called freedom of speech after all, and democracy in action. Besides, are these people not anti war group? Unless you would like for Iran to sink in another war!

B A H R AM, I have not advocated vigitantism ever...
by Ostaad on Wed Aug 19, 2009 08:15 AM PDTI leave that to cyber-cowards who are unable to answer an argument with a counter-argument!
My avatar is not my picture. Let me show you. Come closer... a bit closer... now look very carefully... I'm holding a mirror. See that?

Ostaad , thank god you do have the testies to put your name and your picture as your avatar so people can see your real identity.B A H R A M,
by Ostaad on Tue Aug 18, 2009 10:41 PM PDTThe people whom you label the "regime agents" are exercising thier freedom of speech right in public. I am sorry that vigilante goons like you have difficutly realizing this fact.
At least those "ayaadi" are on TV openly discussing their views for everyone to see who they are. These people are not doing anything to hide their identities nor their beliefs. You, on the other hand don't even have the testies to use your name or your picture as your avatar in order to reveal your friggin identity!
If you think those who are "anti-war" or "peace seekers" must be businessmen and women, and are only engaged in what they are doing because of "donated dollars", then you're dumber than a door knob.
