In his speeches and writings he always refers to Iran as "Vatan-e Aziz-e-man Iran" Click: //www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjBtChLO_Uk
In an interview with Shahrvand last year he explicitly stated that he does not want even one centimetre of the Iranain soil be separated from Iran.
Yes, he is an Azeri, like one third of the Iranians and me. From what I have seen, it is obvious that he loves the Farsi culture and language as well as Azeri, Kurdish, Lori, Baluchi, Gilaki, Mazi, Arabic, Armanian and Ashouri cultures and languages that are spoken and observed in Iran. I am sure that he is not a Pan Turkist, Pan Iranist nor any other Pan but simply believes in human beings and respects human rights.
Finally my friends please note that Iran is made up of Fars, Azeris, Kurds, Lors, Baluchis, Gilakis, Mazis, Arabs, Armanians and Ashouris a
nd to protect the integrity of Iran, you do not need to convert and assimilate the non Fars portion of the population. Let's integrate the Iranain peoples rather than assimilate them - Let's learn from our chosen country, Canada!Person | About | Day |

Could you please tell me
by mohammad348 (not verified) on Fri Feb 06, 2009 05:01 PM PSTCould you please tell me what "Fars" means in English? And what a breed is "Farsi culture". Last time I checked Persian speakers of Iran didn't call themselves "Fars". From Where have you gotten those terms?

Also
by YazdanYar (not verified) on Fri Feb 06, 2009 12:38 PM PSTAlso again back to democracy. I recall reading in the last page about Mr. Moridi, a writer by the name Azerbaijani Turk claimed that he attented separatist concerts of a singer name Aras Azles (or something similar). Also he calls different Iranian people/background/ethnicities as "nations" which is really the communist thing to do. This was in the shahrvand newspapers.
Lets be clear. There is one Iranian nation, it is diverse but at the same time it has one common language Persian and a common Iranian culture which does not belong to any particular group has been built based upon this language. For example Attar, Sanai, Hafez, Shabistari, Shams Tabrizi do not belong to one group, but belong to all Iranians.
Common language.
by YazdanYar (not verified) on Fri Feb 06, 2009 12:34 PM PSTIt is good that democracy gives us the right to express our opinions.
Persian is the common language of Iranians and despite different ethnic languages, it is the common language that keeps Iranians bonded. So despite different backgrounds in Iran, there is a unifying Iranian culture in which Persian is its medium. It has always been. I say this as someone with a Mazandarani/Kurdish background. Just like Mr. Moridi's country has a common language (mainly English except Quebec). There is no assimulation in Iran, but having a common language will eventually lead to variety of people adopting it much like English in the USA.
Mr. Moridi has been in conferences where pan-Turkists like Barahani, Asgharzadeh and others have spoken. These are seriously rabid anti-Iranians and should not represent the 15-22% of the Azeri (not 1/3 if you do a provincial statistical map) population of Iran.

So I urge Iranians not to vote for him and vote for any other candidate.
Thank You.

Your work for his campaign,
by Mardaviz (not verified) on Thu Feb 05, 2009 09:08 PM PSTYour work for his campaign, don't you? Reza Moridi only got elected in Richmond Hill because of the large Iranian community there, and Iranians voted for this unknown person simply because they assumed he was just another Iranian. But more and more Iranians are slowly finding out about his pan-Turkist views, activities, and tendencies. He has done all those services you you mentioned, because he is a politician who relies heavily on the Iranian vote. And while he suck up to Iranian community like a good showman, on the side, he runs a pan-Turkist center with likes of Reza Barahani, and attends separatist concerts/events to cheer for songs about "South Azerbaijan", "Greater Azerbaijan", and "independence from Fars chauvinists".
Canada?
by Pan-Zir-Shalvarist (not verified) on Thu Feb 05, 2009 07:36 PM PSTThe last country on earth one would want to learn from.
If your fellow is not Pan-Turkik he must come out and declare that. Short of a clear explanation he will continue to alienate Iranians from himself.
I for one am a Pan-zir-Shalvarist zealot and am glad to declare that. Can he do that?
