A tale about honor and disgrace

I think we are all familiar with the story of Pat Tillman, a young star who gave up much to join the call of duty for his country. If you have not watched the movie, rent it today.

I salute to his honor and his family integrity

Dear Aynak: "I hope at least from my writing, you know I be the last to pass judgment until I have enough evidence to make it slam dunk :( "

If my comment had remotely given you such impression, then my apologies as it I had no such intention.

As one of my favorite contributor on IC, I have read enough of your comments and blog to know better.

Regarding the family and my own reservation to make any comment, it is just my habit that I try (operative word here) not to jump guy myself before I know a bit more and that is why I hesitated to say any thing about the family's in action.

Again, thanks for sharing his story with us. I hope he rest in peace.

The Pat Tillman Story

All Americans should be required to view this film: after doing so you will never again believe a single word that your government tells you.

Mehrdad Jan, you wrote:

I did not do a good job of explaining the situation.   His father is one of the heads of universities with direct access to Khamaneh-ee.    (Saran Nezam).   From the get go, he came out trying to defend Nezam, instead of at least seeking the truth about his own sons murder in those conditions.   Even a year ago there was an interview with him where he said he knows Mortazavi to be responsible, yet after Mortazvai's promotion and still in charge, he has not said a thing, except that Nezam will do the right thing.

All the while people like Nasreen Sotudeh or Bahraeh Hedayat ..... and thousands are behind bars .....

The other parallel as I know Tillman family, is that, Because they love their country they did what is best for U.S by seeking the truth and not shortselling the precious life of their son.

You read the rest.   I hope at least from my writing, you know I be the last to pass judgement until I have enough evidence to make it slam dunk :(

Dear Aynak: That is indeed a stark contrast

by Bavafa on

Thank you for writing and not forgetting about this victim of tyranny, one of so many who decided to take action as opposed to just dream about it.

As for the inaction of the family, I would like so much to see more examples of Tillman's family in Iran but I will withhold judgment as I don't know the circumstance of their case specially that IRI is not exactly the same as the government in US.

It is sad that government manipulated the truth and used Tillman and Jesicca Lynch to get the support for the unpopular war!

May be not the same but

still  an interesting contrast.  (one family would not settle for anything less than the truth, and the other, accepts anything but the truth).

Dear Mehrdad,

The case of Mohsen Roh-O'll-Amin one of the early casulties of Khamaneh-ees post election murders, is as appuling as it gets.   There, his father, senior has still not asked the Nezam, what happened to the killer of my son?

Refresher:   Mohsen, was a green supporter who left his home post election fraud uprising in 2008 never to return home.   His severly beaten body with a broken Jaw and multiple fractures to his skull was turned over to his family.

This particular murder was one of the hardest for me to take, not just because of the crime, but because of the indifference of his "father" to murder of his own son at the hands of the regime, which caused me to write the following imaginary interview with him on the 1 year anniversary of his murder by Khamanehy'ees direct order:

//iranian.com/main/blog/aynak-7

Mortazavi, the person who ordered these crimes and many more (including Zahra Kazemi) has since been promoted to a higher post.

COP jaan: Agreed very much so

But what sets his story apart from all others…

- the level of integrity of Pat and his family specially his mother and brother

- the extend of deceit that the government went thru to mislead not only this family but the whole nation

- And possibly the level of complicity of media with the government and perhaps a good example of how they are more interested in a fairytale story then real journalism and finding the truth.

P.S. The youtube video which has been added by admin repeats the false story/propaganda about the circumstance of his death.

I agree that this guy could have raked in the millions being an NFL player, but instead decided to go fight and lost his life in friendly fire (which really sucks). If he was not a "star" he would not have gotten the exposure he got, as thousands of young folks have died or been maimed in the past 10 years and none got this kind of publicity.
