Being fair is indeed all it counts

by LostIdentity (not verified) on

That said, unlike majority that make noise, I don't believe we can blame government for everything. Someday, we must feel responsible and share the blame as an individual for what goes wrong. I consider government a product of nation rather than an external entity. People need to take the responsibility to keep government in check. believe me, no system of government WILL be able to overpower will of people, unless people wants it that way. So, my take is AZ MAST KE BAR MAST. Let's be fair.
I'm all for steady, rational and resilient process of expansion and progress than chaotic, unpredictable and erratic one. I think we need some contrarian elements to get the dynamism necessary for healthy progress.

People in Iran will blaze the trail indeed...

by Fair (not verified) on

..in this regard I agree with you. Our nation will not sit around anymore waiting for the government to change or the expatriate Iranians or outside powers to pull some magic. They have shown their initiative and innovation and dedication many many times, in the women's movement, student movement, worker's movement, and yes, in science and technology as well despite all the difficulties. But no doubt, the biggest obstacle to their progress is our government, which unfortunately (I must disagree with you here..) does not care about the will of the people. This is where Iranians abroad can help...

So in the end, if we Iranians abroad are smart and care, we should ask our hamvatans back home genuinely- "How can we help?", rather than prescribing to them what we think they should do. But that is a big "if".

The day Iranians abroad and inside the country get truly united, the Islamic republic will be dead.

But first we must learn to be FAIR. To each other as well as to ourselves.

Re: Fair

by LostIdentity (not verified) on

I agree with your stance that we should not buy into baseless claims. I also believe that Iran will not become a powerhouse over night or a decade - it is just unrealistic especially considering non-alligned behavior IRI has with the world.
But, I just believe in what Iranians are capable of. I'm sure they will find their way to forge ahead, and if IRI lags in responding to this demand, they will make IRI alligned with the will of people. This seems to be the course of action our people inside has taken.

I am also very happy for every successful Iranian...

by Fair (not verified) on

..but you must be able to substantiate this "success". When the government claims for the last 10 years that it builds jet fighters and helicopters when it doesn't, there is nothing to be happy about... UNLESS..

there is actually evidence backing up these claims. which there isn't. Similarly for this "launch into space".

I would love nothing more than Iran advancing into space and any other scientific frontier, but will not be blindly happy over empty claims.

So don't label me and others as "against people of Iran and after my own interests" just because I don't blindly believe IR's empty claims.

Stop attacking people just because they refuse to swallow BULLSHIT against your wishes.

be FAIR.

IRAN IS MADE OF IRANIANS NOT IRAN GOVERNMENT

by LostIdentity (not verified) on

The people who want to put down Iranians for whatever achievements they have are those who are either against the people of Iran or they are after their own interests. The glory belongs to the Iranian nation NOT the government. When I hear an Iranian is successful in Iran or abroad, I feel happy.

Let's work (NOT HOPE) for a day that all iranians, regardsless of their personal belief will put aside excuses and work side by side to bring on glory days again as we have done in the course of history repeatedly.

by Fair (not verified) on

You said it brilliantly, thank you very much.

If Iranians spent just 10 minutes a day thinking logically about what you said, we could move beyond categories and labels and name calling and actually progress as a nation.

I know people in Iran claim BULLSHIT things like "look at all the cars we make now, before we were an American and British puppet, and we would montage GM and Peykan". Somehow, they don't seem to mind that the "new cars" we make now are mostly Korean, whose auto industry was BEHIND that of Iran's in 1979, so it is Korea who should be assembling Iranian cars today, not vice versa (not to mention the cars Iran built in 1970's were actually up to date and competitive and could and were sold in foreign countries (and I am not talking about a few Samand's sold in Syria or Africa somewhere..)

Same goes for electronics, aerospace, helicopters, refineries, you name it. It is absolutely shameful that Iran today imports gasoline and during this cold season people face blackouts and natural gas shortages- in a country which has 2nd natural gas reserves on the planet. And it goes on and on and on.

But I guess somehow, we are supposed to just stick our head in the ground, and be proud because some islamic fascist official made some completely unsubstantiated claim. Allah-o-akbar! Yipppeeeee!!!!

Jamshid in denial anti revolutionary

by Jamshid the ignorant (not verified) on

This according to Vali Nasr, who CONSULTS US government and is on chair of Council of Foreign Relations:

"Unlike the Eastern European communist rulers who had lost their peoples by the 1980s, Iran's hardliners know that they have a solid and zealous 18 to 20 percent base among die-hard elements drawn from war veterans, paramilitary cadres, and their families. Ghalibaf assembled focus groups to branch out from there by capturing the mood of the middle class and urban youth, but Ahmadinejad's skillful use of populism proved him the better strategist."

Are you really the one in denial? Guy like Ahmadinejad doesnt get 17 million votes without having a hardline base that is united.

One out of every four Iranian support the IRI hardliners? Ok, and I am emam mehdi, and one out of 2 Iranians support me. What an idiot you must be...

Hey Jamshid

by Hey Jamshid (not verified) on

You are funny, IRI front? lol. The funny thing is according to even the most conservative estimates 25% of the populace backs the "hardline regime" in their words. That means 1 out of every 4 Iranians backs not just the regime, but the conservative elements. So if as you claim thats an IRI front, well its speaking on behalf of at LEAST 1 out of every 4 Iranians. So it is representative. Deal with it! But since when is showing the news a bad thing? Does it really matter who made the site? As long as its providing us with the latest news and speeches of whats going on inside Iran. Appreciate the site for providing exclusive footage and stop hating and being so paranoid all time.

The immoral and racist

by Anonymous3 (not verified) on

The immoral and racist leadership of IRan launches another absurd shenanigan:

Institute Denounces Draft Iranian Penal Code; Death Sentence Legislated for 'Apostasy'
The Iranian Parliament is currently considering a draft penal code that for the first time legislates the death penalty for what the regime defines as apostasy.

Further, the law gives the regime global jurisdiction, holding groups accountable around the globe for differing from the regime on religious issues.

A careful review of the draft clearly shows that it is nothing more than a legislative tool to consolidate power around the regime and extend its religious tyranny globally.

It is equally as disgusting to believe that the Mullahs have had anything to do with Iran’s progress.  Even if we accept this as a evidence of a “Space Program”, do you believe that the IRI and the 10-15% Khodies who are sucking the nation dry, had anything to do with it?  The people who have made any progress possible for the past 30 years are from the same genetic pool who had made the staggering progress of the era before the revolution.  The governments, could at best, have set a direction for progress.  The argument is had the Iranian nation not been fooled into this revolution and not been looted for the past 30 years, how much more progress could it have made?  If there is meager progress, at what cost has the Iranian nation made it?  At the cost of public stoning and hangings? Torture of students and humiliation of women? massacre of the minorities and total isolation and total damage to the reputation of Iran and Iranians?

The Shah is gone.  But you are still regurgitating the propaganda fed to you 30 years ago.  Try to educate yourself so you are not taken for a ride again, by the likes of these khodies.   They must be having fun with the billions they have looted, knowing they have the unwitting support of people like you.

I feel sick to stomach when I read some of the comments posted here. If you have no brain to criticize something or someone in a logical way, please shut up and don't show your stupidity to the whole world. Ass holes! if you think that you are Iranians, you should be proud that your fellow Iranians (not government) have accomplished something. If not, then shut up and mind your own damn business. If you are representatives of the opposition outside the country, so the hell with you; I prefer mollahs over you western educated bright jackasses. You guys are the best advocates generating sympathy for the IRI.

People of "Shahid Parvar", the announcer says

I ignore number counting fiasco. People of "Shahid Parvar", the announcer says. Shahid Parvar literally means kamikaze. So, this is what I get, Iranians to Islamic Republic of fraud are great people because they are kamikazes. Let me express my disgust with these self professed and made-moslem idiots. Why not “kharad” and “wisdom” (knowledge and wisdom)?

Here, I acknowledge Iranian’s inner drives. The fire inside of each Iranian's soul is great.

LOL

by no_name (not verified) on

This is so embarrassing that I don't even know where to begin. First of all, they couldn't even get the count right, unless we are in some base 8 numbering system that I am not aware of. Second, pointing a missile upward to the sky does not make a space program. The idiots even left a truck next to the launch pad not realizing it could catch fire ;)

I don't even know if the rocket hit the limit that is internationally considered space. But let's say if it did. BIG DEAL. Saddam could have pointed his SCUDS upward and call it a space program. Any country with a bit of cash can buy a such from Korea and fire it up like fireworks and claim they have a space program.

The key is can you actually orbit the thing and do something useful with it like launching a satellite in the correct orbit.

Ahamdinejad must be desperate for America's attention and just burnt up a good missile to help his elections goals.

Lastly, those idiots chanting in the background. They should chant Russia Akbar. Our even better, our Hemagat Akbar.

If they could build something...

by Setiz (not verified) on

These are bribed to borrow technologies.

Iran has over one hundred years of experience in oil industry, from exploration to refining, yet IRI has not been able to be self-sufficient in the well-known refinery technology and have not been able to build refineries internally; do you really think that the same IRI has been able to develop far more complex and expensive rocket and satellite technologies? while they have bribed and begged indian and chinese, among others, to explore, develop, and provide refined products for internal use. Just building the lift-off monitoring and control station is super complex and well beyond what is needed in building a refinery, in an array of technologies from computers and software to radar and telecommunication.

Those with a good memory can remember that iran and iranian technology, whatever it was or was not, was far ahead of any gulf state, and competitive with china, india, and s. korea in 1979. Yet today, china, india, and s.korea are miles ahead of iran, and gulf states are equally prospering with iranians lining up to get visa to move to Dubai, a country that did not count in 70s as a desired destination.

Why jumping around . . . ?

by Javadagha (not verified) on

Why the majority of you are NOT addressing the topic of this post? Okay, you do not like IRI, but do not make everything a personal issue.

Iran has plenty of food and it exports it to many countries in the region. If you have not been to Iran, don’t believe some of the non-sense that you read.

Regarding not having enough gas; Iran has built gas refineries in South Africa and Pakistan to name a few countries. Iran exports the cheap raw material to be refined and returned to Iran. Don’t underestimate the ingenuity of IRI officials in making extra money.

Iran has realized that no country is going to help it. The brain drain has continued because of negative publicity which has made heaven out of Western countries. Fortunately, this heaven is turning into hell because of wrong foreign and domestic policies of their own governments. If these governments could not steal, for example, Iraqi oil they would be in worse shape.

Western countries, through their globalization crap have controlled many developing countries, and thank god, the sanctions cut their hands out of Iran.

Against all odds, wars, sanctions, opposition groups, Iranians inside of Iran have achieved a lot. THANKS to our Men and Women who have made us a proud nation. With their bare hands they fought Iraqi’s who were armed to their teeth’s by the global companies.

One of the people who have written eloquently said the following which I would like to use it because of your posts:
If we consider Iran as a mother, what did this mother do that it produced so many haroom-zadeh with no ergh melli?

Shah was a puppet serving the west not his people

by Naser (not verified) on

If Shah (or his son) was in power, we were still assembling industrial leftover junks from Europe and America and were happy about it. What are the achievements of other countries in the region who are friendly to the west and enjoy their support today? If Shah was in power, we were at most like Saudi Arabia (a servant) serving America's interests.

I'm not a fan of IRI but admire the hard working people in Iran for their achievements. Those of us who think we are the greatest brains who left Iran are stupid arrogant jack asses. The greatest brains are those who are making scientific progress with their bare hands in Iran.

Amazing Technologies from ISLAMIC REPUBLIC of iran

by Fariborz Maleknazri, OBGYN (not verified) on

I think the happening illustrates in a good manner what the honorable Iranian nation has achieved during the last 30 years. The first ten days in February as every body knows are the celebrating days of the unprecedented victorious Revolution sending 2500 years of corrupt regimes of PERSIS SHAHS for ever to the cemetery of the History. However to iranian nation count - up to my opinion - only the ones who have founded thier ISLAMIC REPUBLIC of IRAN, are living there and are willing to protect and continue to develop what they have achieved.

The latest reports indicate that Iran's Kavoshgar-I lifted off for space from 12th Emam well, carrying a capsule with a passenger. The capsule and the passenger have successfully reached orbit, causing admiration across international and scientific community. The capsule included the Omid (Hope) Satellite and the passenger was a Khar-Magas (a king fly whose name has been changed to khomeini fly ever since the toppling of the PERSIS king (shah)). The passenger has been viewed to be alive and well by the high resolution radar built by the ISLAMIC republic of iran.

Prior to lift-off, the honorable leader of the ISLAMIC REPUBLIC of IRAN, in cooperation with the absent 12th Emam (AATF), performed the necessary prayers to guard the rocket, the satellite, and the fly, against salty eyes of our enemies. All the reports indicate that all those prayers have been most effective and have saved the fly from certain death during lift-off acceleration and stress.

The khomeini fly was resulted when cloning was attempted using DNA from beard of AYATOLLAH KHALKHALI, found in the middle of his personal belongings, in an advanced biotech barn ("tavileh") inside ISLAMIC REPUBLIC of iran. The honorable scientists, however were puzzled when the cloned AYATOLLAH KHALKHALI turned up as a khomeini fly rather than a flying pig. So, it is amazing that so many ISLAMIC REPUBLIC technologies have come together to make it possible to have a clone of the honorable AYATOLLAH KHALKHALI orbit the earth and even witness the activities of the greater and the lesser satans.
Greeting.

How do you think Japan became the economic superpower it is now?  After WWII Japan was the first country in the pacific to become the “assembly house” for the West.  Cheap transistor radios and electronics were being assemble in Japan in the 50s and the 60s, until they started to form their own design houses.  Then in the 60s and 70 Korea became the “assembly house” of the West.  In time, they too, became an industrial giant.  In the Sixties Assembly of busses started in Iran (1962) and by 1967 the first Paykan had been assembled, and the steel industry started operating in 1966.  In the Seventies, several industries started flourishing, such as Tractor building, Helicopter assembly and parts for F16 started to be manufactured in Iran.  Because of the revolution, the solid state electronics revolution that was about to explode, did not make it to Iran and instead made it to Taiwan.  Taiwan, today, is an industrial giant that makes and designs its own electronics.  Today the Assembly house of the West is China.  Utilizing your logic, the West has “The goal of keeping you (China) in total dependency”.  China is assembling cars, manufacturing electronics and making European designer fashion articles, and all the shoes that Iran used to make and export but now is importing.  In time China, too, will become an independent design house, and already the electronics industry is moving onto Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.   With your Daei Jaan Napoleon mentality, all these countries should have rejected the notion of starting off in assembly for the fear that they were being kept dependent.  You have to start somewhere and build up know how before you can contribute to the sciences and technology.  Iran was well on its way to having  a second generation of engineers and scientists who would have taken Iran beyond assembly and by now well into a whole generation of first class designers.   But instead, most of the brain and talent is now contributing to the advancement of the West.  Think about that, next time you fanaticize about dependency of Iran before the revolution.

I agree with Jamsheed

by Ali Sefati (not verified) on

I don't like going backward but I agree with Jamsheed that we would have been a much more advanced country if Shah was still ruling Iran.

Both Shan and Iranian people have great thirst for knowledge and technology. And it was just matter of time for Shah to realize that sole dependency on America would not going to help him. In fact he did and that is why he didn't have the American support during the revolution.

Just to see that the most complex Sports Facilities, Aryamehr (today called Azadi) and state of art soccer stadium was made during Shah and to this day, IRI has not been able to make a soccer stadium into that scale shows how much more in advance Shah was.

If Shah was in power, Iran's advancement would be more well and rounded rather than one sided Military projects. And oh Yah, Iran would have state of art missiles and air planes and military too.

Re: Anonymous01

by jamshid on

Yes, with the previous regime, we would have been far more ahead with technology than we are with the IRI today. In the past 30 years, instead of leaving Iran to a foreign destination, all the "brains" would have gone back to Iran and contribute to its advancement. And I am not talking about a few hundreds, I am talking about a significant SEVERAL HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of intelligent, well educated, hard working Iranians that would contribute to Iran's progress by being in Iran, instead of living in a foreign country. They leave Iran because of the IRI's backwardedness and brutality.

Therefore, our accomplishments would have been far far more than under the IRI.

The IRI is a joke.

Today Iran's imports are even worst. We import more in food, more in consumer goods, and even in gas, yes in gas! We are one of the richest oil countries of the world and we import almost half of our gas! The IRI has made half of Iran poor and the other half nothing but a consumer of cheap imported foreign goods.

Just remember, the IRI imports our gas and exports our brains. I rest my case.
