Where's the beef?.......

This site has recently been filled in one form or another with blogs and news related to what is happening in Gaza. They all talk about shame this, shame that, boycott this, boycott that, racists, murderers, victims, terrorists, fascists, Zionists, slaughter,….and of course none of these logical and/or emotional outbursts have any impact on the fact on the ground. It is just an expression of opinion, which is always respectable. But, where is a sensible debate over, what does it take to bring about a long lasting peace?. A debate over idealism versus realism. A debate void of blames and name calling. In my opinion this forum is not to come up with an enforceable policy, but rather to learn and get to know ourselves better and provoke deeper thinking.

There is no doubt that every soul who posts here or silently just visits, loves freedom, peace and justice. The question is how to get it and at what price? What is real and what is ideal? Again, in my opinion, there is no value in debating on “how we got here” if it is doesn't help us with “how to get there”. With that in mind, I ask the bright minds of this site, what does it take to transform IRI to a secular democratic republic? And, what does it take to have a lasting peace in the Middle East?

I always remind myself that a good debater is the one who can argue both sides of a debate. I am still a novice in this but have promised myself to work on it…. So, please help me learn.

Good points Bijan

hard to answer. I can tell you one general principle that seems to work for all fascistic utopian ideologies in power. They won't be effectively debunked by arguments. If that was the case, they would have never come to power in the first place because fascistic utopias are rather easy to debunk logically. It is more an emotional thing for the masses. Real change comes about within the cultures that are one way or another engulfed in their lure when their consequences are felt, the misery they bring experienced by their subjects to the very bone. That's when a culture gradually wakes up and distances itself from such nightmares who are sold as dreams. Usually takes new generations to fully throw off the old addictions though. It is a long process. The faster hard reality is felt, the shorter this period of transition becomes. I know of no other way.

Uhmm..My earlier comment is missing here..may be it didn,t go through ..any way..here is what I wrote earlier;

First off , I,m not a opposition groupie & to be honest , I prefer the mullahs to stay in power another 50 yrs so the people will get fed up with the culture that brought em into the scene . But again , every day longer for mullahs to stay on , is a day lost for true Iran to re-emerge, so here is my 2 cents;

The people in Iran haven,t seen a viable alternative to the ommati regime and what they see is the same status quo opposition playing the same boring tune for the last 70 yrs . What is it that diaspora is offering to Iranians inside that is much different than mullahs version . All of them basicaly offer status quo solutions for the status quo culture , give or take with some imported alien ideology & most were at some point side kicks of the same Ommati regime  they criticize now . None address the virus that causes entities such as IRV(IRI) to come to the scene aka Virus of Ommatism and sooner or later they will become one themselves if in power . I wont even discuss the cultural baffoonery called LA satelite culture with cheap music , opium for the minds entertainment  & closet mullah fan clubs turned political sound machines . Is that the Neo-Iranic vision we are offering to folks inside Iran to rise up for ? ..

You will not defeat the mullahs by military foreign intervention or bombs . This regime came to power via a cutural war & the only way to defeat it is by a cultural re-awakening of the masses around true Iranic values , identity & icons aka a new version against status quo ommati culture . thats why I chuckle , each time I see another political opposition bulletin same old, same old . The Iranians inside are looking for directions from diaspora and it,s up to us to first embrace it ourselves and be prime examples for them inside that it can be done . Once they see a brand new attractive solution based on patriotic agenda, preservation of our heritage and a new Iranic psyche they will surely will want to follow us by rising up and demanding it from the regime..

It has to be a grass rooted personal effort by all of us outside to give true , sincere example to our kinzmen inside Iran . Sites like iranian.com should lead the way on an ideal scenario but unfortunately most are part of the problem . We should practice what we preach in patriotism and once they see our resolve, they will want it too . this effort will range from revising our culture , language all the way to our psyche & our world view for us and for our children . Thats why I emphacize on it in all my blogs . We have to offer an attractive solutions and you can not cure a patient if you dont know what ailes her .. Sorry Bijan, no short term solutions. I will expand later if need be .

 pls,  read my blog to find out what I mean by Ommatism & true Iran.

cheers!!!

8 million addicts & the rest under propaganda & suppression need a hand from us Iranians outside to show them a ray of hope , a sign of change , directions , Icons from our true Iranic heritage to follow , the right vision ,  viable enough to yearn for it . Now is not the time to be all gooey and lukewarm , to preach them patience , to show them the easy way out  & indifference , To lecture them on tolerance even for the enemy , tell em fictions on a fake reform within , telling them others will do the job for em  ...... They need a battle anthem to resurrect true Iran...where are those hands & icons

btw* Patriotism that mullahs preach is yet another concept distorted and demeaned to replace it with their jehadist agenda . In V-ran today , values are being hijacked and repackeged with the same name but ommati content .

Samsam Khan,

Thank you for your post. Would I be wrong to conclude from your post that a secular democratic Iran would help bring a lasting peace in ME? I tend to agree with that, but what does it take to transform Iran into that state? Do we have to wait for several generations for a peaceful and gradual transformation before resorting to a bloody revolution or rely on lessons of history and use force to uproot the current system? By that I don’t mean foreign forces but rather armed uprising from within? But, for this to happen, IMHO, the masses have to become committed to the cause. Be fed-up with the ruling of the current system and educated about the alternative.

Again, IMHO, patriotism works as a two edged sword when it comes to current status in Iran. It can be used to raise the sense of awareness, pride and support for a democratic republic, but at the same time it can be used by clergy to kill those same senses.

If recent demonstrations by students are any indication of change in general population’s sentiment, then we may be approaching a point where they would be receptive to help from within (or even from outside) for a forceful change.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed

Regards

You need it ::))...it,s like looking for music CD in kingdom of the deaf... and having dialogue with ommatis only credits their bankrupt agenda..

btw* debate them about the main culprit of this horrific bloodbathing , you know, the one big guerilla who keeps putting palestinians against each other , arming one & using their blood to push the ommati agenda .

Pasdar Rezaei once wrote in his memoires "We learned early on that in order to protect this holy islamic republic we must be always on the offensive beyond our borders and make wars with our opponents in their own land so they will always be on the defensive so our survival is insured "

Hence, the opposition terror campaign, hezbollah, hamas, Sudan, Yemen, Bahrain, on & on & on & 5th columns in the west....

Cheers!!!
